2 from this year's class get to go back to 2007, both are already enrolled (Chris Jackson and Corey Smith) as Kerry Murphy and Mike Ford did not qualify (but Ford was able to qualify at South Florida). Another recruit Jamar Taylor enrolled early-but apparently had family (I think a child as well) and left the school and was able to play right away at South Florida as well.

Alabama also had 3 scholarship players transfer during the year (OL Alex Stadler, LB Zach Schreiber, and QB Jimmy Barnes). I expect a couple to not qualify and perhaps a couple to greyshirt as well.

Adding to #22's explanation of the "process" -

Anyone who enrolls in the spring (this semester) can count against the 2007 cap of 25, but only if 'BAMA didn't reach that limit last year....you would need to back out the number of spring enrollees to make a rough estimate unless you know exactly how many hit the cap (not capstone) in 2007.

Wow, TOSU, hate much?

I can see how someone would be so upset after the last two National Championships.

Teams that signed 30 or more players in the top 25 of the rankings: Alabama, Miami, Florida State, Minnesota, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss. Huh, four of those aren't in the SEC, one of those four is in the Big 10. Weird.

#20, those schools with more than 25 are only allowed to enroll 25 of the commits by NCAA rule. Some of those people will not academically qualify, grayshirt, or get into too much trouble before they can officially count towards the Fulmer Cup.

There was a sliver of truth to Big 10 commish Delaney calling out the SEC's academic standards in that the Big 10 has it's own rule: you can only offer qualifiers and there is a 25 limit period. If someone is offered but does not qualify, that scholarship is burned for a year. So you can't take chances on players you know are marginal academically, like Notre Dame did athletically when Willingham was coach. A school like Bama, they overstock and are banking that 4-5 will not qualify, or some JUCO's are already enrolled so don't count against the limit, or they will grayshirt some guys, making them pay their own way for the fall, but then yielding a scholarship the next spring.

TAFKATOSB,
I tried to add that shit up myself..but I didn't have enough time in between trying on my new Stage 3 body armor and sharpening my hatchet. I guess I'll ask the lady at the liquer store when I get work release.

How in the fuck do you sign 33 guys???? No wonder Alabama has the top ranked class, they signed 33 fucking guys...that's not rocket science.

Here's something I would like to see added to the fuzzy math these recruiting rankings use...how many official visits did a school conduct and out of those visits how many kids did they land.

Jim Tressel had 26 visits and landed 19 of them...with Terrelle still in the balance it could be 20 of 26.

Back to Dick Saban and the Criminal Tide, 33 fucking recruits....33. How in the fuck is that possible????

Don't we have enough fuzzy math in the BCS formula for ranking teams...how we are all going to become slaves to recruiting rankings just like the BCS.

As if fucking up our bowl system and creating bogus conference championship games to drum up more cash for the conferences wasn't enough to start ruining college football, let's now add recruiting ranking and sucking the lifeblood out of high school athletes to the list of things that will eventually lead to the demise of college college football and what it was supposed to be.

Why doesn't the SEC just leave the NCAA and create a semi-pro league where you can have your official draft, playoff system, and superbowl game...

"?HOW THE FUCK DOES TY WILLINGHAM GET PEOPLE TO PLAY FOOTBALL FOR HIM? ARE DISORIENTING LIGHTS AND SLEEP DEPRIVATION INVOLVED?"

The "Now watch this shot." refrain and the apparent complete lack of giving a shit about anything fool them into thinking it's the OBC. When they get out there, he dispassionately demonstrates his golfing ability on the skull of a disobedient 1-star, thus terrifying the rest of them into signing. Even Jake Locker couldn't outrun those balls.

I promise we will get better results with our recruiting class than Notre Dame will. And we got ours for a lot better bargain. Plus the fact they wont have to go to church and all that other stuff that gets in the way of watching film, like family.
Signed,
Nick Saban
