Nice reply, DG. I wanted to applaud your reply to me on the variety.

I saw a Miami-Ohio game in Athens in 1996 I think. Ed Sears (sp?) was the big guy for Ohio and scored the first 16 or so points for Ohio. Miami was favored, but Ohio won. There were Muck Fiami shirts aplenty. Sold our house, I snuck in a door that security guard held open for us. At that point it was the crowd record in that arena, but you need to add 3 to get the accurate number (if not official).

Re #45: And so it is. I'll drop this digression and get back to monitoring the wires for Fulmer Cup updates, and you can return to plumbing the depths of th e 'Bama two-deep before your next attempt to call Paul Finebaum.

Best personal regards,

Re #38: Different strokes, sir. Different strokes.

Football is all Wagnerian sturm und drang and frequently more dramatic than anything else on offer in American sport. But, while I love the smell of napalm in the morning (and killing the wabbit) as much as the next guy, I want something other than Wagner on my playlist.

Well-played basketball is either intricate chamber music (e.g., Princeton and my Miami RedHawks) or flowing jazz (Duke and Carolina). It's a nice change of pace, and apparently, even Mr. Swindle partakes now and again.

#15,

tOSU and its fanbase is hated not out of begrudging respect but because of their blind eye to the facts staring them square in the face, delusions of grandeur, and a frustrating sense of entitlement.

All of which is summed up nicely in your post.

Between Ferentz' Felons, Joe Pa's School of Malevolent Geriatrics, and Zoooo-ooook, the Big 10's Fullmer Cup status is looking up. Way up.

Look for big things from Rich Rodriguez in Ann Arbor once he gets his kids installed. In the past, all you could hope for from Michigan was the occasional beer bottle assault (thank you, Marlin Jackson) and some late-night porch spankin'. But it could be laywers, guns, and money in AA before 2009 is out.

How about enough talking about a shitty game like hoops. I mean for god's sake, throw a round little ball in the hoop kids. Come on, you can do it. Oh, don't want little Tommy to slap you wrist while you try it? Ok, let's call it a foul. Tommy, 4 more of those and you have to sit in timeout, mkay? Somebody must have posted a link here on the Tarhole/Dookie Rivals hoops site, and shazam now we have heffed up hoops kids playing tag on here.

TAFKatOSUB,

I don't really care so long as Georgia players are only getting arrested for trivial shit. When assaults and guns enter the picture in Athens I'll feel somewhat ashamed of the program. Take Georgia's basketball team under Harrick for example. What the rest of the league does is delciious schadenfreude.

"Although hated, they are what every program aspires to be, which is grudging respect in an odd backhanded way."

A football team scores one NC in 40 years and suddenly they are what every team aspires to be? Um, really?

Hey that sounds great, can I get one of those frontal lobotomies too?

Evidently, the commentary about Dook hourly workers showing up in UNC gear on game day was not legible to those without reading skills.
