Penn State is still noted on there for the refiled charges from last year because, frankly, we?re still on the fence here. Last year?s charges refiled for this year?s points just feels so cheap and reheated. I mentioned this in the previous thread, but it was pretty far late already, so... Penn State's chargers were NOT refiled from last year's Fulmer Cup. They were refiled from the season. The incident in question occurred in October. We're not talking about a months-long refiling here. The incident occurred in October, the charges were dropped in December due to lack of evidence, and refiled in January. C'mon, you've got to keep the recent stream of moron jock activity in State College straight, man!

On Okie State’s Pettigrew – looks like the Stillwater Barbradys won’t be persuing the the “assulting an officer” charges per the local news. May need to update the scoreboard to take away the 3 points. Looking for linkage as I type.

Ok, my take on the Penn State controversy…

The options:

1. Put the points back on the board that were taken down when the initial charges were dropped or reduced.
2. Award the points retroactively and reissue the 2007 Cup.
3. Do nothing, award no points.

I don’t think you can let it go without awarding any points as if it never happened. However, I agree that it doesn’t feel right to award points this year for last year’s transgressions. Nor would I be comfortable taking the Cup away from Illinois, which you have to do if you awarded the points retroactively (although you could declare a co-champion, kind of like the double gold medal for that figure skating mess a few years back).

So I advocate a compromise solution –

4. Award half the points toward this year’s total that would have been awarded last year if the charges had never been dropped in the first place.

It’s an acknowledgement that the incident is Cup-worthy and may yet have an effect on Penn State’s future, but it doesn’t exaggerate the incident by awarding full credit for past incidents, nor does it affect last year’s outcome.

I'm a big fan of asterisks and an even bigger fan of seeing my team on the scoreboard, but I must state for the record that Penn State's potential points should just be tossed. It's something that happened during the season and had to be refiled in front of a judge from a different county. Then again, it happened during a black fraternity's "party walk" and actually involved a combatant saying "I'm fronting on you and I'll do what I want!". Like "A Different World". In the middle of Pennsyltucky. Maybe we do deserve points, after all. Also, Jasmine Guy was kind of hot.

Reminds me of the Athens police report for last years FC partcipants.

Police pulled over a car driving erratically. Officer approaches vehicle as window is being rolled down. Plume of smoke escapes vehicle. Officer asks if there are any drugs in the vehicle. To which the accused answers (while laughing)…………..not anymore!

I think staggering the beginning of the Fulmer Cup season is confusing and patently unfair. I realize the beginning of the real CFB season is somewhat erratic, but only a matter of days, not weeks.

Bowl teams like Georgia should not be penalized by some johnny-come-lately 5th-degree felony that occurred between the regular season and the bowls.

Such activity should be consider pre-season and should only count for schools that include their spring intersquad game as a victory.
