IS THE DOOR OPEN?
Cause we’re bringing friends.

Tebow. Capital One Bowl. Incoherent, angry, blood covered blood updates blood. NOW NOW BLOOD NOW.
1:22: Rich Rodriguez gave ‘em the playbook. Florida’s defense looks like they studied for a Latin test and got the Cuneiform. Michigan 7-0, thanks to Chad Henne’s sudden excellence and Florida’s continuing inability to pressure the passer.
1:38 p.m.: A holding penalty is Florida’s best defensive play thus far: a three and out and suddenly we remember that Florida’s traditionally a slow starter under Meyer. Panic level: three coffees.
2:00 p.m.: Updates will be slow and spastic thanks to anger, emotion, and periodic reassurances to TCOAN that we’re not about to spear the television with the MacBook.
2:18 p.m.: Manningham is a damn beast, and Henne makes a brilliant call on the audible to a run. Florida’s defense is an atrocity as it’s been most of the season. We’re on a huge cup of coffee and a fruit tart and thinking about the champagne, not because we want to celebrate, but because we need the booze. Holy smoking hell.
2:22 p.m.: Don’t look now, but the surefire blowout of Virginia by Texas Tech is now a 16-7 Cav lead.
2:28 p.m.: Like Ladanian Tomlinson doesn’t have some lame shit on his system? Play artist Silkk The Shocker! Suck on that, Mr. Famous-I’ll-make-fun-of-a-bust-ass-broke-teenager!
2:39: Thank you, Mike Hart.
3:00:
3:31: Rain of frogs. Bloody seas. Anything else? This is an astonishingly ill-prepared team. It’s as if, in addition to our existing problems in pass coverage, we’ve sprouted a new lack of discipline and special teams problems! Dead in the water and taking it on below the waterline. No idea what can be done here.
4:04: Much broken furniture later, Florida has taken trash-talking dwarf Mike Hart’s fumble back for a tying TD. Now on Henne to destroy the secondary again. Someone steal Hart’s fish!

4:38: We’ve been through all the stages today. All of them. And there’s still five minutes left in this goddamned cardiac event of a game. Pills. A hammer. Something. There is no balm in Gilead for what this game is doing to the soul.
END: Well played. Michigan is the better team today. It’s hard to complain when you can’t defend a post route, can’t protect your quarterback, can’t kick a field goal, can’t…can’t win. Salut, monsieur Carr. We raise a glass of bubbly to you. Now go fishing and leave our team alone, because you were 2-0 against Florida.
ps. Michigan looked fast. Like, Big Ten fast.

It’s a great win for Michigan. They really played well and it would have been a bigger win if not for the turnovers.
It doesn’t really exhonerate the Big 10’s recent woes, but it does show that the conference can field good teams.
Big 10 fans shouldn’t be talking shit (except to FL)
SEC fans shouldn’t be talking shit either.

I love the Zooker, but I’m not sure I could deal with ESPN’s reaction if Illinois won. Hearing the Citrus Bowl announcers today say that a lot of players on Florida’s (ridiculously young) team are Zook’s players was just silly–let’s retire that line please. But the juxtaposition of the two games today if Illinois wins, along with the “Ron Zook’s players” thing, might kill my soul.
Of course, then I remember in the past 20 months my teams have won 3 national championships and a Heisman, and the pain dulls.
I’ll stop talking now.

Chin up Senor Swindle.
You lost by 6 playing mostly freshmen and sophomores at every position. Michigan won by 6 with seniors playing every important position. Florida’s lineup is set while we retool everywhere and change systems. You will compete for a MNC next year. We will not
Still, at least for today, Ha ha.

Annapolis @ 238 – because we didn’t talk shit all year about how much better the Big 10 is or make unfounded assertions about “speed” or anything else. No, we just let the numbers to the talking, and now we can run our mouths after the supposed epitome of SEC speed, with the Heisman winner, essentially playing at home, just got their asses handed to them by an 8-4 Big 10 team
Uh….Florida finished 8-4

252 – 4 turnovers for Michigan 0 for Florida. But Florida played like shit and Michigan played well? Oh yeah, and 3 of Michigan’s turnovers occurred inside the opposing 10-yard line. Tebow got hit more often and harder than he’s been hit all season….that was the difference when it mattered.

Annapolis – Penn State has a pretty good record against SEC teams, with only 2 losses (Florida, Auburn) since 1990. They play Bama again in 2010-2011, so we’ll get a chance to improve the record.

Essentially the inverse of last year’s MNC. Florida was quite obviously nowehere near as much better than tOSU as the score indicated. Rather, a much better prepared, supebly motivated AND, somewhat better team laid the wood to the complacent Buckeyes coming of a very long layoff.
Here and inferior Michigan team loaded with Seniors who had suffered a humiliating season and somewhat diappointing career beat a flat young Gator squad, complacent over their recent achievements and interested primarily in the future.

I love the arguments about who is the best conference. IMHO, the SEC is both the best conference and the most overrated conference.
Florida sure was soft today, I mean SEC soft. They certainly didn’t play like the team that physically beat up the SEC last year and OSU in the BCS Championship. Better toughen up next year Gators.
Where is Chris Leak when you need him Gators? Michigan gave a clinic on how to beat Tebow today. Look for more of the same the next two years.

Jesus Christ 271, give some credit where it’s due. Nothing worse than using mindset as an excuse. Maybe FL was flat and is looking forward to the future (which should be an incredibly bright future), but being mentally prepared, no matter what the game, is as important as physical talent. Michigan beat a good FL team, overcoming 4 turnovers in the process. FL’s flatness is a bullshit excuse.

I for one was not one of the Buckeye fans who enjoyed Michigan losing to Appy State. By virtue of living in the south, I have become a pussy and a fan who has to root for other Big Ten teams because that is what everyone down here does. Growing up in the North I would have never given a single thought about rooting for another Big Ten team…they were the enemy. But things are different down here…SEC fans band together for SEC pride…it’s a southern thing…it’s a pride thing…it’s a proving to the rest of the country we are not a bunch of dumb hicks thing…all things that don’t exist up north.

Actually, Michigan gave a clinic on how to beat Dan Mullen’s offense, whether it features Tebow or not. For a while, it looked like the sheer greatness of the offensive talent would be enough to overcome Mullen’s playcalling, but in the end, it wasn’t enough, especially with the defense playing so poorly.
Thank you to Mike Hart for trying to help, though.

I’m not making an excuse and am very far from a Florida fan. I’m giving full credit to Florida for their preparation last year and Michigan this year and am assigning the appropriate blame to this year’s Gators and last year’s Buckeyes for their mental and motivational failure.
I’m simply observing that the two results, last year’s MNC blowout and this year’s Michigan win are the results of those aggragate achievements and failures rather than an absolute indicator of the quality of the opponents playing at something approaching their best.

Just who else for LSU has been injured/not playing beside Doresy? Further, healthy or not USC is better than Illinois, much better. USC has a decided experience and coaching edge in bowl games. Illinois was 2-9 or something terrible like that last year.
I would in no way equate USC/Illinois to LSU/Ohio State. Other than they are virtual road games for both Big Ten Teams, just like Michigan playing Florida in Florida and Penn State playing aTm in Texas…Tenn also got Wisconsin south of the mason-dixon line.
