#39, I don’t think it is “big city” talent pool that is the argument as much as it is “california” talent pool…Whether actually true or not, Fla., Tex, Cali are perceived to be the most talent rich states, and thus having to compete with other schools in the geographic area is not a good excuse, see: Fla., State of.
Heck, Tenn. grabs kids out of So.Cal. every so often, and that has no business happening.

This can’t be a true statement, err, question…whatever. As I pointed out recently, everybody already moved to ATL. Seems there is a transplant/bash correlation in a given area. Detroit’s can’t use that excuse, obviously.

Sweet, sweet Asian Fever. I remember 5 years ago, during the twlight of my 20s (around Orson’s age I believe) I caught the bug myself. Ahhh, bliss.

What’s funny is that we were all surprised with the Asia Carrera reference, but 99% of us know exactly who she is. Now I can’t wait for the Miko Lee parody!!

LSU v tOSU – tOSU was ranked what, 10th as little as 2 weeks before end of season…they hang much better, but get smushed by steamroller LSU in 4th

UGA v Hawaii – we may see the waterboy playing QB for Hawaii before this is over… welcome to the South boyz… UGA by about 21

Mich v Fla – disorganized meets wonderboy…. FL by a handful

OK v WVU – Oklahoma is pissed … I almost feel sorry for WVU … they should just forfeit to avoid embarassment

VTech v Fighting Manginos – Kansas should go ahead and change their mascot and school name…. very kewl to see a team with a grossly overweight mascot stuffed into a normal sized helmet…maybe a Mangino blimp sailing overhead…kansas takes this or Mangino eats a player after the game

I question the assumption that a big city talent pool equals an elite college football program. Where are the elite teams in NYC, Chicago, Atlanta, Cleveland, Houston, etc?

Compare the top teams in those cities with Norman, Lincoln, Gainesville, Knoxville, Ann Arbor, Columbus, etc?

USC and Miami are the exceptions. And in USC’s case the program started winning national championships back in the 1920’s and 1930’s when LA was more of a backwater than it is today. UCLA with a single split championship over 50 years ago has never been on USC’s level for a prolonged period of time.
