I am fairly confident Auburn won’t be facing Steve Slaton in the fall.

His remarks after RR’s exit became public, he gave me a chance at RB, doing what is best for him, was surprised he didn’t leave for Alabama last year, tell me that Slaton is going to take the #15 or pick in the draft and leave White and Devine by themselves.

I’ll say this. Beating a TB coached team would put a little salve on the wound, sure. But if RRod were not leaving, then we’d have a road game against a NC contender. This at least knocks them down a little on the respectometer.

And despite the knock down, they’ll be featuring some outstanding athletes in a new offense. No film on White/Slaton(or is he a sr.?)/Devine running whatever the hell they’ll be running will be a nightmare for Muschamp. So it’s like double jepardy.

Given, AU is installing the spread as we speak, so hopefully they can generate enough points to cover up any surprises the Mountaineers might throw at the AU D.

You don’t get to be a D1 coach on skill and skill alone, theres some wrangling abilities in there kids, so I don’t think RRod is as stupid as everyone assumes he must clearly be. I think he’s engineered these shenanigans to a degree, but we will see if he loses control of them or not. At any rate, I think you guys are missing the big picture, and that is: Since the schools have the same colors, he wont have to buy new suits and ties, he’s SET.

On a totally selfish note, this whole WFV debacle is going to really hurt Auburn’s SOS next year. WFV was the crown jewel in the out-o-conference slate, and, barring a big time HC hire, it will lose some serious luster.

I think we can all agree that this is a fucked up situation. Even if RR feels he has some ground to stand on, it’s more than a little douchey to quit then call a lawyer. I would think before resigning he would go the the WVU AD and say “Look, I have an offer from Michigan and I know there’s a buyout. But you guys have clearly not lived up on your end on points A, B, etc. So lets come to some agreement on a reduced buyout, or I’ll call my lawya and make such a public mess for you that the only person who would want the job would be Terry Bowden.” Maybe he did do that and this is the follow through.

Terry Foster of the Detroit News — who barely fits the bil as a reporter — wrote yesterday that two Michigan boosters agreed to split the buyout between themselves. So this is probably more about RichRod presenting his case to the public as to why he’s leaving, and maybe trying to negotiate the number downwards as a favor to his new overlords.

Didn’t everyone know about the buyout when he was first hired? It doesn’t make sense that he or the Michigan administration didn’t know when a bunch of dudes on message boards did. My question is, would he really bring this lawsuit if the administration didn’t promise him things and then not follow through? It just doesn’t make sense to do that.
