One night, while attending summer quarter at AU right before the 1998 season, my roommates and I went to an almost empty Botchers for some of their giant LITs. Like I said, the place is empty except for Terry Bowden, two guys who I assume were assistants and their wives listening to the accoustic band on the back deck. Terry apparently enjoyed the “college atmosphere” a little too much as he is wearing an untucked, unbuttoned flannel over a t-shirt and jeans with no socks and berkinstock’s and is way more than three-sheets to the wind. He ends up sluring through some song up there with the band and one of the assistant’s wives starts flirting with one of my roommates. At that point the assistant decides it’s time for them to split, which she resists in a drunken MILF comedic sort of way.

Needless to say, it was an interesting night. My only regret is that it was before camera phones.

I dont know whose house I would want blown up first,
either the Bowdens(coaches) or the Baldwins(actors),
is it me or are they all Catholic or Mormon where the believe in creating a family that either all of them coach or act…..where one in each family is dominant at his job and the rest are sketchy at best?

I think their wives need some sort of award for putting up with all them dads and sons…..like a Medal of Honor or something cause you know with Bobby’s schedule as a coach, Mrs. Bowden was raising them hellions solo..from birth til high school grad……had to be tuff

The Bowden boys are an interesting bunch. Tommy is a pretty bright guy – likable, smart and has the demeanor and humor to handle the position he’s in, even if it means perpetually losing three games a year. He’s clearly the most like Bobby once was 20 or so years ago. … Jeff is like your TV when the cable goes out – you might get a clear signal on one channel if you hook up the antennae and tilt it in the right direction. … Then there’s Terry: thinks he’s the life of the party, but in reality he’s just the one talking the loudest. Terry Bowden quit the day before a game. Some people (bammers) will say he was run out of town on a rail, but there was a tough meeting that day about the bad season and Terry chose to quit midseason. If he was fired he would have a had a job since 1998, but he quit on his team and that is why no school will even interview him.

Good luck if WVU hires him – can’t recruit worth a damn. The ultra-fast, lawyer talk doesn’t go over so well with recruits, or at least it didn’t in the states of Alabama and Georgia. Auburn was left with the dregs and questionable qualifiers. Once Pat Dye’s recruits were out of Auburn, we had zero talent left – hence lovely 1-5 start to season.

Not to mention walking in and quitting the day before homecoming.

I’ve got a buddy thats a big Auburn fan.
He says Tiny Terry is just now pursuing coaching jobs b/c Auburn had to pay him X amount of dollars a year ever since he left. Hush money?

Bowden’s column isn’t bad but his talk show here in Orlando is horrid. It’s clear that it has to be a subject that he’s prepared for in order to speak on it – his knowledge on anything outside of current college football is spotty. He’s blanked on the name of the Red Sox’ Stadium, referred to Carson Palmer as “that kid from USC”. I had to get a satellite radio just to have something to listen to on the drive home because I refuse to listen to him.

Funny how Bowden’s regime fell apart only after the players obtained via questionable methods went through the system. When Auburn had to follow the same rules as everyone else, all of a sudden they weren’t that great. Terry Bowden won’t ever coach again because the schools he wants to coach at don’t want him and the schools that would take him he doesn’t want.
