SOUND EFFECTS MAKE FOOTBALL BETTER
This highlight comes from the “Mo Hall Classic,” whatever that is, and is notable because yes, it contains a stellar crackback block, the move where an offensive football player split out away from the play runs back in towards the snap to block a defensive player. Sometimes, on crackback blocks, the defender has no idea what the hell’s coming and takes a neck-snapping
“Sometimes,” as in this clip.
So football terminology aside, the clip pwnz because they added the classic punching noise to the hit, not once, but twice, showing the play in sepia tones and replaying the gag. This stands as a superb example of Stranko Montana’s one and only rule of comedy: if it’s funny once, it’s funny every time. Now, excuse us while we slip on a banana peel on a midget’s shoulders in a trenchcoat that covers us both on the way out the door, so that we actually look like one very tall man.

Not sure what the Mo Hall Classic is, but FYI, Maurice (Mo) Hall is the former Buckeye running back who scored the winning touchdown against Michigan in 2002. A product of Brookhaven (Columbus) High School, Hall used to gash my high school’s defense for 200+ yards every time we played them.

Would have been better if they had included the Wilhelm scream instead. It would be in good company.

Technically that guy “peeled back”. A crackback is when a receiver blocks from the wide out or slot onto an unsuspecting linebacker, safety, or nickel as the play comes toward him.

SUPER CRACKBACK! (filmed in “D.Skillzcam”). This kind of visual art rivals that of the greats like Sophie Calle and Gregory Shepard. Truly inspirational.

Maurice Hall was part of the stupidest play I have ever seen in High School football. I was at St. Francis DeSales (Columbus) at the time and we played Brookhaven in the 2000 playoffs. Brookhaven had the ball in the red zone wuth the top RB recruit in the nation. Dumb bastards call a HB pass and he throws a pick, ending the game and giving the win to the good guys.
