By offer, I meant the “discussion of open coaching position” claimed by legions of Bama fans that claimed they have the inside scoop on where the school or a booster’s plane was landing to meet with Spurrier (Columbia, Agusta National, Florida), Saban, RR. I would not expect a formal offer to be tendered to someone that said, “F No” during any of those informal meetings to discuss the offering of the position.

Woodson was a shutdown corner in a conference that doesn’t pass. He was good, that’s it. Manning was one of the greatest college QBs of all time. It was a travesty.

There is no national media bias for the Heisman, Woodson won it b/c he was simply better than Manning.

Woodson led his team to the national title. Manning led his team to…..another loss to Florida. Case closed.

The only coach offered the Bama job and did not accept was Rich Rodreiquez. The others were asked by reporters if they were a candidate and responded that they were not a candidate. The media reported these type exchanges as coaches “turning down” the job. So far Les Miles and Greg Schiano have both officially turned down the Michigan job, and many more have said they are not candidates. I asked the question earlier “where is the national media?” rhetorically……we all know the ESPN and national media bias that is there for the south in general (Charles Woodson over Peyton Manning for Heisman in 1997), this is just another example of it.

Capstone & TinCup – my guess at why the media is not all over UofM and why folks aren’t saying it’s as bad as Bama’s search last year is that there is a huge difference in the reaction and comments from Michigan fans now compared to that of Bama fans last year. Plus, the general attidude of Bama fans in general makes things much different.

For one thing, my opinion of Bama nation’s attitude last year was that Bama fans beleive you never really made anyone an offer until the one Saban accepted, so no one officially turned you down… even though left and right coaches were turning you down in public (well 2 or 3 before you got Saban).

In general, Bama fans publicly denied that there was a problem in the coaching search, and that anyone that thought otherwise was an idiot. You guys believed that you would absolutely get whatever coach you wanted. I know many of you on here posted your thoughts about how Mal Moore (sp?) and Bryant Jr was screwing you guys hard (which is the realistic opinion), but the rest of Bama nation knew that those two’s every move was being orchestrated by the Almighty and that all will end great for you in the end.

In a polite summary, I think Bama fans brought the media’s harsh bright spolight on themselves and it’s unfortunate that the more practical minded Bama fans are lumped in there as well.

If that doesn’t work – use the one that my mom told me when I was 7, “Just because you’re paranoid that everyone hates you, doesn’t mean they don’t.” Sniff

#2: Hypothetical here – if Bama was looking for a coach and the guy they wanted was coaching a team that was about to play AU in the MNC game (like I said, hypothetical – AU in a MNC game – laugh it up ), would you wait for him to coach the game and possibly get a win against your arch rival before closing the deal and signing him?
