ESPN: MILES TO MICHIGAN, DONE...SIIIIIIKE!!!!!

Update: the Ann Arbor News and Rivals are now both reporting that Miles has ageed to a contract extension with LSU and scrapped Michigan's offer completely.

The coronation begins: Miles to Michigan, post-SEC championship game, per ESPN's televised type division.

Some poetry can only suffice at a time like this:

2.5 million
to 3.45 million.
Less is more for Les.

Lloyd Carr, in garage
Raises kitten in hand. "He
doesn't like punting!"

Let er rip! Go Blue!
How do you say strange word...
En-thu-si-asm?

Ready to rock, baby!

Oh, and Pelini to Nebraska, too. If you have a resume, send it to the HR department in Baton Rouge pronto.

Orgeron to LSU? Pretty please?

by Biggus Rickus on Dec 1, 2007 10:17 AM EST reply actions

My Resume:

Dear LSU,
I’m a hard drinkin’, hard living, motor-mouthed, wild man both on AND off the field. I would gladly kill whomever you would want in order to get the job. In short, i’ll be all the things to LSU that Les was. A match made in Heaven.

Go (Geaux) Tigers (Tyegeurs),

How long until they start calling him LLLes?

So are they serious about getting tOBC?

The big news isn’t Miles to Michigan, it’s that Georgia Tech’s DC John Tenuta is going with him. Michigan’s defense just got 600,000 times more aggressive.

by Year2-Dave on Dec 1, 2007 10:40 AM EST reply actions

Good Lord, that means that Georgia might actually make a decade against Tech. With no Tenuta, there’s really nothing to fear about the NATS again, ever.

Also, expect to see Michigan get burnt by any teams with good offensive lines at least twice a year from now on. They won’t lose to teams playing with the spread, just to teams that aren’t afraid of being blitzed.

by blackertai on Dec 1, 2007 11:01 AM EST reply actions

What’s next, is Crowton coming with him? This is a crazy Saturday, what with the empty Jim Beam bottle by the bed. Does my moniker need to change to Not Painfully Close Games Against Minnesota?

by Zone Left on Dec 1, 2007 11:08 AM EST reply actions

Man, there is going to be a Chernobyl style meltdown at the North Ave. Trade School if that is actually the case. Couldn’t happen to a better bunch. Enjoy Edsall (Lewis 2.0) – we will.

Did Michigan interview any minority candidates?

by RIP Logan Young on Dec 1, 2007 11:18 AM EST reply actions

I wonder if Saban now regrets bolting for Alabama when he did. Had he stayed in the pros one more year, he could have gone back to LSU. As bad as the Dolphins are this year, he wouldn’t even have to quit, he’d be fired.

by Smyth on Dec 1, 2007 11:21 AM EST reply actions

@#11: I believe Michigan interviewed Ron English, but I’m not positive though.

by Andy on Dec 1, 2007 11:23 AM EST reply actions

Interview? Hell, they hired one! The large-testicled, taffy-eating retard has long been discriminated against by the ruling classes.

by PW on Dec 1, 2007 11:23 AM EST reply actions

Michigan interviewed the Defensive Coordinator Ron English (African-American) earlier this week. Question is what will happen to him (demoted to DB coach? leave?) and to Offensive Coordinator Mike DeBord?

by M5 on Dec 1, 2007 11:23 AM EST reply actions

That’s the same Ron English whose defense couldn’t stop anyone for the last three years or so, correct?

by RIP Logan Young on Dec 1, 2007 11:25 AM EST reply actions

I just emailed now_a_hoo to concede the next three ND-UM games. (I figure after three years, someone will have hired Tenuta as their HC). Tenuta’s defenses have made Weis’ offenses their bitch the last two years.

Dammit all to hell.

by Eirishis on Dec 1, 2007 11:37 AM EST reply actions

Great…based on this years trends, LLoyd Carr will be the next LSU head coach……

by Mr Pelican Pants on Dec 1, 2007 11:44 AM EST reply actions

Seriously folks,
Ramp up the (any coach in Jimmy Sextons Stable) talk to LSU….Saban, Spurrier, Fulmer, Tubberville, Nutt(anything can happen),…….. If Saban leaves and Tubberville leaves—-at the same time———expect a rather large sinkhole to envelope the state of Alabama…if Saban leaves to LSU, I call dibbs on Spurrier…..

by Mr Pelican Pants on Dec 1, 2007 11:49 AM EST reply actions

Les isn’t keeping Ron English? I am SHOCKED, shocked I say.

I heard the A-A chick who writes on Page 2 for ESPN, or the guy who wrote Souled Out state that they could not understand why Ron English and implied race played a factor.

Yeah, as opposed to the Ohio State/USC/App State/Oregon debacles?

Seriously, banner day in the Coop household:

Tenuta gets the heck out of the ACC, LSU has an opening and somebody very high up in the LSU adcademic administration, means nothing really but I can dream, was a provost or something in Gainesville in the early 90s.

Come on, Steve. You know you want that national title, and you would easily get it in 1-2 years. Maybe you would even repeat as national champion on the Bayou.

Besides, that 45 minute drive to Augusta is overrated. Who wants to travel that stretch of I-20 just to play golf?

I hear gumbo and crawfish are mighty tasty, and they will not give you bs on recruits you want to sign, even though your USC admissions dept took the bullet for you because you oversigned. Hell, they believe there is a positive correlation to how dumb you are and how good of a player you down there.

Look at Steitz for cying out loud. Get that boy a haircut.

Ed note: Steitz may be a Rhodes scholar for all I know.

Go to Baton Rouge, oh visorred one. You know you want to…

by Coop on Dec 1, 2007 11:53 AM EST reply actions

Wow, Edsell to Georgia Tech?

That 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense will work well there.

Er…. make that 1 yard…

by hunglikehussain on Dec 1, 2007 11:56 AM EST reply actions

20 – insert " was not a legitimate candidate, only received a courtesy interview," between Ron English & and.

by Coop on Dec 1, 2007 11:56 AM EST reply actions

So, is Michigan picking Miles up because he is a ‘Michigan Man’; or is it because they want to introduce some SEC style of football north of the Mason/Dixon line?

by drogue on Dec 1, 2007 12:05 PM EST reply actions

Apparently, ol’ Les is staying at LSU.

LSU produces more quitters than the French Army (Saban, Les Miles, Peweenie, etc.)

by Harvey Wireman on Dec 1, 2007 12:18 PM EST reply actions

On the bright side, maybe LSU is just a stepping stone to bigger and better things.

Either way, it looks bad for LSU.

High prized recruits are watching and will undoobitablee jump at the right option right now.

ESPN News not saying that Herbie’s statement was premature.

Sounds like Herbie’s source is Tenuta, who obviously is a 3rd party in the Miles and LSU discussions.

Tenuta to LSU, now?

Eh, either way he would be out of the ACC, so score!

Now THAT was funny! You left off a couple of LL’s from LLLLoyd’s first name, however…

so it safe to assume that we’re only going to get sporting news links now??

by gerry dorsey on Dec 1, 2007 12:30 PM EST reply actions

ESPN.com has a link titled “Source: Miles to announce he’s staying at LSU”, however when you click on it you get the story where Herbstreit says he’s going to Michigan. As Chief Wiggum would say, that’s some nice work, there, boys.

doing my best here from my phone standing next to some seriously drunk people in an Atlanta parking lot!

by Orson Swindle on Dec 1, 2007 1:04 PM EST reply actions

People in the SEC are actually hoping Miles would stay… we love his kind of waterhead retard football.
Not really mediocre, but not really great either.
He has the ability to make his team play down to the level of competition—-see Tulane——and then in the 4th quarter, actually start playing like a team, making up ground that they have lost….its kinda like every game they play they are hustling pool….they act like they cant shoot the easy shots, get a few balls behind, then, boom, they go all Minnesota Fats on your ass, except the two games when they scratched on the eight ball….ya know what Im sayin??

by Mr Pelican Pants on Dec 1, 2007 1:05 PM EST reply actions

Great. We may as well have a drunk four year old girl out there coaching.
Remember when Saban showed up in his Hawaiian shirt, flip-flops and lawn chair and coached LSU to a defeat against Iowa while not spilling any of his straw umbrella garnished cocktail? This will be like that but worse.
Geaux (sigh).

Tenuta to LSU would be a nightmare….wouldn’t want to face that D with the athletes that LSU has.

by tim in tampa on Dec 1, 2007 1:49 PM EST reply actions

I wish some of these favored candidates for the big jobs would reject the school’s offer.

The panic, fumbling, PR bullshit, and distress that comes with second (or third or fourth) attempts to secure a head coach is much more fun and interesting to watch.

And, sometimes, the results are better than expected. See Carroll, Pete.

Or not. See Weis, Charlie.

by D-nice on Dec 1, 2007 2:01 PM EST reply actions

Looks more and more like I’ll get my wish. Baton Rouge newspaper says Miles is staying and has a press conference scheduled. Looks like someone pulled out their wallet.
