Personally, I think Hatcher would be the most exciting, but he may be a little light on the experience.

Tenuta as head coach and as of now are trying to convince
Chris Hatcher to come be OC.

Problem with that is that Hatcher (supposedly) turned down the FSU OC job last year, saying he doesn’t want to move up to FBS as a coordinator, but as a HC. It would be a major coup if we could do that.

Why doesn’t David Cutcliffe get more love? Look what he did at Ole Miss. And he did it with Eli!!

I thought they were smart at Georgia Tech Dept?
Why in the world would they hire Rick Nuheisel? He needs to go to a program that has really weak academics and no entrance standards to get the type of players that he likes to get…..someplace like…’Bama, Miami, or Vandy. (Vandy was a joke, fellers….)

Blog Goliard says:
Neuweasel would be a perfect choice for any program that believes that:
a) Character doesn’t matter.
b) Winning 10-11 games in Coach’s second year is worth everything going to Hell in a handbasket immediately thereafter.
Just offhand, I’m not sure what ADs and presidents out there concur with both a) and b); but I wasn’t expecting Tech’s to be among them.

November 29th, 2007 at 2:12 pm

Supposedly the AD has done a pretty thorough check on the past incidents and his current character and was alright with the results. Whether or not anything has actually changed with him is another matter entirely.

Crabapple Buck says:
Rick Neuheisel is from UCLA. Karl Dorrell is on the way out. UCLA brings Ricky home to coach on the cheap since he hasn’t coached for a few years.
Since George O’Leary has served his time at UCF, isn’t he ready for a return to the BCS or is there still too much baggage?

GT is in a much better spot versus when they hired the afforementioned goons of Pepper Rogers, Bill Lewis and Chan Gailey. For one, The AD was Bobby Dodd for a couple of those, and Dave Braine, the previous AD, was a class-A moron who had no business sense. The current AD, Dan Radakovich, has his shit together, and I have little doubt he’ll find someone solid for the school.

Just for the record, I like Slick Rick and think a lot of his brushes with authority have been a little overblown — but be that as it may, Techies, putting Neu on the payroll will officially disqualify you from ever uttering the words “Jan Kemp” again.

Hey techies, If Hatcher is so high on your list, why don’t you play
Georgia Southern and evaluate from the whoopin you are likely to get.
They would also fill your stadium.
You’re the third best team in the state.

I’d be happy to see Slick Rick coaching again, but I’m really pulling for him to get that UCLA job. I mean if the Bruins want a change from boring Karl Dull-rell, Slick Rick is about as much of a change as you can get.
On the other hand, I’m not sure if LA could handle Slick Rick around again.

The fact that his nickname is “Slick Rick” makes me very uneasy.
I really want this man to have nothing to do with Georgia Tech. I don’t care if his past is overblown, there’s just too much shadiness.

This is so out there, I don’t know if we should dignify it with a response.
What is the possible upside of a Slick Rick hire? Probation again?
I’d give Terry Bowden a shot again before I’d accept Rick.

George P. Burdell says:
If Tech gets a good coach, you can expect him to do well very soon. The last 2 coaches at Tech worth a nickel (O’Leary, Ross) both kicked a little UGA ass and won 10 games before trading up for an sweetheart job. Plus it ain’t a rebuilding effort either. If Chan-freakin-Gailey had a winning season every year what’s a good coach gonna do?
November 29th, 2007 at 3:34 pm

Steve says:
Screw O’Leary… he got us on probation, ceding the moral high ground to which we could retreat after any losses to the cheating bastards up the road in Athens.
Given D-Rad’s focus us bringing us back in the black, our next coach is definitely going to be young (read: cheap) and “exciting” (read: gimmicky, likely on offense). Since Tenuta is close, I bet he stays, and they hire a flashy OC. Maybe we can get someone who swabbed the decks for Cap’n Leach… doesn’t get any more gimmicky than TT.

Doug, admit it…..you’re just being coy when you say you just ‘like’ Slick Rick.

Quack Whore says:
I think even Wazzu’s standards are too high for Prick Neuweasel. Plus the strip clubs in Pullman are lobbying hard for Price’s return.
The rumor floating around is that the fucla job is his if he wants it. Personally I’d rather him take the GT job since its about as far from here as you can get.

Will says:
Actually the last two “good” Tech coaches that beat UGA happened to be there when two of the worst coaches for UGA (Goof, Done-in) were around.
Ross had one really good season and then lost to UGA their defending co-champ year (1991).
O’Leary had his streak* but was using ineligible players all three years and for a while, before NATS appealed to the NCAA, UGA had wins/defaults from 91-present.
So Tater Tot or Slick Rick should make the Nerds happy: they won big in the 90s (like Ross) and got their teams in trouble with the NCAA (like O’Leary).
