Now I have to post this list again, since you keep making more relevant places to put it….

I’ll repost the rumor list for us from yesterday, since this seems to be a better place than the “Mustache Wednesday” thread…

Tier One
Randy Edsall
Will Muschamp
Rick Neuhisel (?!)

Tier Two
Chris Hatcher (current Ga Southern coach)
Jon Tenuta

Tier Three
Charlie Strong

Personally, I think Hatcher would be the most exciting, but he may be a little light on the experience.

Sorry about the double post – server got really slow for a minute.

Oh please oh please oh please oh PLEEEEEEZE give us Slick Ricky to kick around again! Happy Days!

by bitterhorn on Nov 29, 2007 1:43 PM EST reply actions

I heard from old rich men in country club locker room

Tenuta as head coach and as of now are trying to convince
Chris Hatcher to come be OC.

#5:
Problem with that is that Hatcher (supposedly) turned down the FSU OC job last year, saying he doesn’t want to move up to FBS as a coordinator, but as a HC. It would be a major coup if we could do that.

by ehrenb2 on Nov 29, 2007 1:45 PM EST reply actions

  1. that makes a lot of sense, I just report what I hear from old men in locker rooms. Oh yeah, & Blue Horse Shoe Loves Anacot Steel

by corey bailey on Nov 29, 2007 1:49 PM EST reply actions

Will Slick Rick be bringing MC Ricky D with him as OC?

I had to share this, and there’s probably not going to be a related post anytime soon:

I think the upshot is that Tim Tebow is a White Devil.

Slick Rick would make Georgia Tech relevant and they’d certainly get better.

Why doesn’t David Cutcliffe get more love? Look what he did at Ole Miss. And he did it with Eli!!

I thought they were smart at Georgia Tech Dept?

Why in the world would they hire Rick Nuheisel? He needs to go to a program that has really weak academics and no entrance standards to get the type of players that he likes to get…..someplace like…’Bama, Miami, or Vandy. (Vandy was a joke, fellers….)

by Stacy Keibler Luvs Me on Nov 29, 2007 1:57 PM EST reply actions

Neuweasel would be a perfect choice for any program that believes that:

a) Character doesn’t matter.

b) Winning 10-11 games in Coach’s second year is worth everything going to Hell in a handbasket immediately thereafter.

Just offhand, I’m not sure what ADs and presidents out there concur with both a) and b); but I wasn’t expecting Tech’s to be among them.

by Blog Goliard on Nov 29, 2007 2:08 PM EST reply actions

SKLM,

Other smart hires by Georgia Tech: Pepper Rogers, Bill Lewis and Chan Gailey.

by Biggus Rickus on Nov 29, 2007 2:08 PM EST reply actions

As a UGA fan, I’d hate to see this…despite the fact that the entertainment level would be Nuttian in stature.

by Bobby Decatur on Nov 29, 2007 2:09 PM EST reply actions

Since when has Tech been so synonomous with high character?

by Bobby Decatur on Nov 29, 2007 2:12 PM EST reply actions

Supposedly the AD has done a pretty thorough check on the past incidents and his current character and was alright with the results. Whether or not anything has actually changed with him is another matter entirely.

by ehrenb2 on Nov 29, 2007 2:12 PM EST reply actions

Rick Neuheisel is from UCLA. Karl Dorrell is on the way out. UCLA brings Ricky home to coach on the cheap since he hasn’t coached for a few years.

Since George O’Leary has served his time at UCF, isn’t he ready for a return to the BCS or is there still too much baggage?

@Blog Goliard,

How many D-1 programs are there?
I’d say about 100 of them qualify.

Slick Rick needs a gig.
Those gambling loses add up quickly.

GT pisses excellence. From a reliable source, the next head football coach on the Flats will be Chuck Norris.

by lawtool on Nov 29, 2007 2:35 PM EST reply actions

GT is in a much better spot versus when they hired the afforementioned goons of Pepper Rogers, Bill Lewis and Chan Gailey. For one, The AD was Bobby Dodd for a couple of those, and Dave Braine, the previous AD, was a class-A moron who had no business sense. The current AD, Dan Radakovich, has his shit together, and I have little doubt he’ll find someone solid for the school.

by Brian on Nov 29, 2007 2:49 PM EST reply actions

Who will be his offensive Coordinator? Doug E Fresh???(people in the press box will complain about constant beatbox/clickin, clackin, weird mouth noises) that will be comin from Doug E Fresh…

by Mr Pelican Pants on Nov 29, 2007 2:52 PM EST reply actions

Just for the record, I like Slick Rick and think a lot of his brushes with authority have been a little overblown — but be that as it may, Techies, putting Neu on the payroll will officially disqualify you from ever uttering the words “Jan Kemp” again.

by Doug on Nov 29, 2007 2:54 PM EST reply actions

Hey techies, If Hatcher is so high on your list, why don’t you play
Georgia Southern and evaluate from the whoopin you are likely to get.
They would also fill your stadium.
You’re the third best team in the state.

by hunglikehussain on Nov 29, 2007 2:55 PM EST reply actions

Anyone notice how much Rick Neuheisel looks like the mascot?

by blazin on Nov 29, 2007 2:57 PM EST reply actions

I’d be happy to see Slick Rick coaching again, but I’m really pulling for him to get that UCLA job. I mean if the Bruins want a change from boring Karl Dull-rell, Slick Rick is about as much of a change as you can get.

On the other hand, I’m not sure if LA could handle Slick Rick around again.

by Jeff from LA on Nov 29, 2007 2:57 PM EST reply actions

The fact that his nickname is “Slick Rick” makes me very uneasy.

I really want this man to have nothing to do with Georgia Tech. I don’t care if his past is overblown, there’s just too much shadiness.

by asim on Nov 29, 2007 3:19 PM EST reply actions

This is so out there, I don’t know if we should dignify it with a response.

What is the possible upside of a Slick Rick hire? Probation again?

I’d give Terry Bowden a shot again before I’d accept Rick.

by Techie on Nov 29, 2007 3:19 PM EST reply actions

If Tech gets a good coach, you can expect him to do well very soon. The last 2 coaches at Tech worth a nickel (O’Leary, Ross) both kicked a little UGA ass and won 10 games before trading up for an sweetheart job. Plus it ain’t a rebuilding effort either. If Chan-freakin-Gailey had a winning season every year what’s a good coach gonna do?

by George P. Burdell on Nov 29, 2007 3:34 PM EST reply actions

Screw O’Leary… he got us on probation, ceding the moral high ground to which we could retreat after any losses to the cheating bastards up the road in Athens.

Given D-Rad’s focus us bringing us back in the black, our next coach is definitely going to be young (read: cheap) and “exciting” (read: gimmicky, likely on offense). Since Tenuta is close, I bet he stays, and they hire a flashy OC. Maybe we can get someone who swabbed the decks for Cap’n Leach… doesn’t get any more gimmicky than TT.

by Steve on Nov 29, 2007 3:46 PM EST reply actions

Doug, admit it…..you’re just being coy when you say you just ‘like’ Slick Rick.

You want him in Athens like Stewie Mandel wants Jenna Fisher in his basement cot….

by Bobby Decatur on Nov 29, 2007 3:48 PM EST reply actions

Slick Rick wants to stick it to the U-Dub. Watch him take the Wazzu job. Now THAT would make for a great Apple Cup.

by Brian O'Blivion on Nov 29, 2007 3:54 PM EST reply actions

Ehrenb2, could you please post that list one more time. I just can’t get enough of it. Thx k by.

by Officer Freaky on Nov 29, 2007 4:09 PM EST reply actions

Techie,
So you are good with probation either way, for the record?

by GamecockTony on Nov 29, 2007 4:23 PM EST reply actions

I think even Wazzu’s standards are too high for Prick Neuweasel. Plus the strip clubs in Pullman are lobbying hard for Price’s return.

The rumor floating around is that the fucla job is his if he wants it. Personally I’d rather him take the GT job since its about as far from here as you can get.

by Quack Whore on Nov 29, 2007 4:30 PM EST reply actions

Notice, I didn’t say what kind of a shot I’d give ol’ TBow.

by Techie on Nov 29, 2007 4:43 PM EST reply actions

Rick Neuheisel…

Do we need any more grist for the “lack of minority hiring” mill than Rick Neuheisel being considered for jobs?

Actually the last two “good” Tech coaches that beat UGA happened to be there when two of the worst coaches for UGA (Goof, Done-in) were around.

Ross had one really good season and then lost to UGA their defending co-champ year (1991).

O’Leary had his streak* but was using ineligible players all three years and for a while, before NATS appealed to the NCAA, UGA had wins/defaults from 91-present.

So Tater Tot or Slick Rick should make the Nerds happy: they won big in the 90s (like Ross) and got their teams in trouble with the NCAA (like O’Leary).

When strip clubs in Pullman, Wash. are pining for your return, it’s probably time to just let go.

by Innocent Bystander on Nov 30, 2007 3:15 AM EST reply actions

  1. Will

Did you ask a Tech fan to help you make up those pathetic excuses? (We’re good at it is why I ask.)

by George P. Burdell on Nov 30, 2007 11:35 AM EST reply actions

Tech fans, don’t forget to budget an extra few million for when he sues the school after tanking your program. Ah… the memories.
