The moon has now completely turned blood red as the approach to the apocalypse continues: Missouri is now your consensus number 1 in the AP poll following their defeat of the Kansas Jayhawks Saturday night. How do you celebrate a decisive victory ending with a humiliating sack? Nu-metal-backed highlights, comin’ atcha! If you can’t tell if a band is a Christian rock band on the first five seconds of listening, they suck. Viva la Youtube volume control–the plays are impressive enough without the 12 year old anger management soundtrack in the background. Minnesota head coach Tim Brewster really wants you to write something positive. Because he’s out there recruiting hard, and because he wants the media out there recruiting hard for Minnesota, too. Just a thought, you know, guys. An article in this newspaper’s Nov. 14 sports section reported that a former University of Minnesota cross-country coach addressed football coach Tim Brewster’s weekly news conference and “implored the media to be more positive” and “help us recruit.”What can you media members do about recruiting? Anything that is negative hurts us. It hurts us in volleyball. It hurts us in softball. Hurts in track and field. Hurts us at the gate. … Que? Brewster’s attempt to propagandize the Minnesota media fell flat with local reporters, including Star-Tribune reporter Lou Gelfland, who suggests that in the future when the Minnesota football program has an issue with media coverage, “those in charge should have left public relations matters to the professionals.” Tim Tebow broke his non-throwing hand in the game versus Florida State when he scored a rushing TD in the third quarter in the 45-12 defeat versus Florida State in the 45-12 defeat versus Florida State in the 45-12 defeat of Florida State. (Sorry. It just got good to us.) Sonny Lubick, one of college football’s most venerable coaches, is likely out with a buyout at Colorado State. The winningest coach in CSU history leaves following a 3-9 season and is expected to retire following the coaching shakeout. F is for Ferentz. Hide the bleach if you live with a Michigan fan. Kirk Ferentz may already be the next Michigan head coach. Egads. More on this later, but when you run your football program like a Communist state, the Politburo doesn’t have to explain who they hire, or why, no matter how obvious the reason may be: because Kirk Ferentz is the Mac version of Lloyd Carr. He’s more accessible, a bit shinier, but really just the same thing in different packaging. If you loved Brezhnev, you’ll love Yuri Andropov! We mean, Carr and Ferentz!

Mr Pelican Pants says:
I’ll say this…..Alabama will win a MNC before Auburn will, with or without Tubberville, write it down…..
2009 is the year where we will be able to compete for the SEC…Bama should be able to get there to a MNC playoff game by 2010 if Saban doesnt kill any players…Auburn better do it next year if they can get by Florida or Georgia, but dont see that happening either, cant see Tubs goin 3 in a row over Tebow…thus another possible Auburn MNC down the drain…he would have a better chance at Arkansas w/ Felix Jones coming back….Auburn lost their chance when ,in 2002,with loads of NFL talent in the backfield gets beat by USC 24-17….so keep dreamin of the MNC….its all they will ever have…they make pretty good NFL running backs and linebackers at Auburn, but no Champions on the college level…If Saban gets 4 full yrs of recruiting under his belt, the result will be fuckin scary, and everyone knows it, if it wasnt so, no one would give a fuck, but heresay dont matter til its played on the field, and everyone will see Alabama get consistently better, not worse, thats a fact. SEC teams, when they get to play in the BCS MNC game, dont usually lose, and GA would wax either WVU or tOSU…just like GA waxed Tubs

Pelican Pants,
Actually, the only reason people give a shit is because we’ve been hearing about how fucking great Nick Saban was all off-season. Nobody is scared of what Alabama will be in three years. I’m certainly not. For the record, Saban’s years at LSU went something like this: 8-5, 9-3 (SEC title), 8-5, 13-1 (SEC title, MNC), 9-3. I’m sure Alabama will improve, but there’s nothing scary about Nick Saban.

It seems Pelican Pants has gotten himself into a bit of trouble with his mouth (yet again), but to open the post talking about how “easy” WFV is to beat and using USF as an example, then to say OSU will get rocked in the title game again by that same WFV team, is just odd. Can you tell me with a straight face that USF is a better team than OSU? Really? 3 Big East losses, to a murderer’s row of Uconn, Rutgers and Cincy, compared to OSU’s one Big Ten loss to a team even Orson is afraid of playing in a bowl game?
I’m sure you’ll insist USF is better, but I just can’t see it.

The Artist Formerly Known as tOSUBuckeyes says:
LSU has had a nice amount of NFL talent, but not as much as Miami or Ohio State over the last 5 years.
Also, what has Saban or any of his players really done since 2003 when they shared the NC with USC in a year much like this year where there is no clear cut dominate team – they have beaten Miami and ND in bowl games…wow….??? They were 9-3 in Saban’s last year and lost the bowl game. They were 8-5 the year before going 13-1. And honestly, Saban only had 1 year that was really better than DiNardo’s and that was the 13-1 season. Saban had a 10-3 season and DiNardo had a 10-2 season and a 9-3 season…also had the two bad seasons before Saban got there.
Bama fans cling to Saban because it is the only hope they have left…that program was left for dead after being placed on the stiffest probation since SMU and had it not been for the 32 Million Dollars coughed up for Saban, Alabama would be done…a distant memory.
McPants….there is no way you honestly believe that Alabama is going to win 9 straight over anyone, much less Auburn. When was the last time you guys won a game in November?
Further, how do you have any idea what Georgia would do against West Virginia or Ohio State? In year when Stanford beats USC anything is possible.

Mr Pelican Pants says:
What people try to compare is:
In state rivalry used to matter when Alabama and Auburn used to matter…it was a bigger game when both seasons were in the balance. Usually Alabama came in ranked in the top 5 or vice versa, and the other team would almost always knock em out of contention since the game was late in the year…usually had bigger names on National level (Bo, Cornelius Bennet), and now its just about a streak that doesnt matter outside Alabama…and mainly it was played by players that grew up in the state of Alabama, with Coaches who had worked with each other, from both sides back in the day, so it was more of personal thing, now the polish is off since this year was a disappointment on both sides. Auburn has had continuity and lil distractions, Alabama cant say that, though most of it was self created. Storm for Alabama is over…..lowest point has been reached….in relative to catastrophes and the process, get ready for the Saban Tsunami

We are all shaking in our boots, even ULM. When is your narrow mind going to wake up to the current state of college football? Things that have changed since the last time Alabama “dominated”:
1. 85 Scholarships
2. TV and Media coverage
3. The Internet
4. The rise of Miami, FSU, and Florida
5. The BCS
6. College coaching salaries
7. NFL Free Agency
8. Cell Phones
9. Microwave ovens
10. Population boom in southern states
11. Online Gambling
12. Do I need to continue?
And you are telling me that Nick Saban is so great that he can overcome all of these things that have leveled the playing field since the last time Alabama “dominated” the college football world?
In case you haven’t noticed, Alabama is still the same shit hole state it was back when Alabama “dominated” with the longest state constitution in the country (having 777 amendments) that makes it nearly impossible for the state to progress in terms of real economic growth and improvements in primary education.

You guys are gonna get a penalty flag for givin me “the bidness”…
Yeh we had talent and momentum this year…..til the University of Alabama, some conspiracie theorist seem to think some Shula lovers in the admin dept, decided to drop the bomb and get 5 starters suspended…right after the Tenn game and right before the LSU game. These werent scrubs, Starters, mind you.Saban had nothing to do with it since the crimes were committed over a period of time, and they probaly knew about it before the season began… After they dropped the LSU game, players seemed to give up since there was nothing to play for, and do their own thing. But Talent without effort is, well nothing….see ULM game…and I guess Saban hasnt had to deal with a few talented athletes who dont want to compete, even with nothing on the line…if he would have done what he should have done at the beginning of the year and cut several key losers off the team we would have been 4-8…I understand these players have been thru 3 divorces metaphorically speaking, but man up and play..most D-1 players I know will play their heart out playing church softball because they are so competitive…yes the 9 in a row is extreme…most of what I say is tongue in cheek, not fact….I’m pretty reasonable as far as being a fan goes, just like to stir shit up since we can beat Auburn, and neither can Florida….I’ll take SEC title sooner than later based on track record, but according to TAFKATOSUB, the SEC was down when Saban won both his and his Natl Champ….Least our SEC teams have to play another game and we dont get the luxury of sitting at the house watching other teams take each other out while we move up the ranks by default for 2 weeks in a row…funny how you can go from 5th to 2nd or 3rd by doing nothing….tSOU would be number one if we had one more week to go……

Well since Coach O has recruited them and offered many of them scholarships, we may stand to get a bunch since they fire him…damn 9/11, Pearl Harbor, and Tsunami, isnt anything sacred??
In case you missed it, Nick Saban could have save himself some trouble by stating without comparing anything: “This season is a disaster, not only for us but for college football as a whole, remember, if Auburn wins, the terrorist win…..again, and again and again and again…this whole season is a Tsunami wrapped up in a Hurricane Katrina type enviroment.”
He didnt really say that, he would have gotten sued by Jesse Jackson..
To SUM IT ALL UP: BAMA SUCKS….and I dont think many will disagree if they watched any highlights.
There is light at the end of the tunnel, and its coming from the reflection of Nick Sabans teeth….

I’ll say it again… how does a coach supposedly worth $32 million get worse over the course of a season? This team went from 6-2 and leading the SEC West to near implosion.
As for the 5 suspended players – losing players to injury, suspension, etc.. is part of the game. Lesser paid coaches deal with it daily. And also, is there one player on LA Monroe that would start for bama? Doubt it.

If I wasn’t at work right now I would rip you a new ass…hey dumb ass, the Big Ten title was settled on field this year, the winner of the Ohio State vs. Michigan game was the outright conference champion. We’ve been sitting at home for 1 week. We didn’t take a bye week this year. And your beloved conference championship games don’t mean shit this year…other than giving a 3 blowout loss team a 3rd shot at winning a conference championship against a team that has lost twice as the #1 ranked team, once to an unranked 8-4 team with no defense.
And yes, Nick Saban’s success at LSU came at a low period in the SEC…and he only had 1 great season….

Mr Pelican Pants says:
Price dont matter when it comes to MNC…..
$32 million…..it wouldnt matter if it was $320,000 everyone would still be harping on Nick Saban….
Gene Stallings first year wasnt spectacular, they even loss to Louisville in the Fiesta Bowl….went 7-5, the difference between him and Saban is that Stallings had Bill Currys abundance of NFL talent and depth left over….which he parlayed into a undisputed MNC only 2 seasons later in 1992. Saban doesnt have that luxury, he will have to do it over a 4 yr period where HIS talent and HIS coaching…1st year coaches always gets a pass…2nd year the scrutiny starts…Defense did a so-so job, offense could have been 100% better had they kept the starters together…
Crabs—–yeh injuries happen, not 5 at one time…maybe 1 or 2, not 3 from the same side of the ball…..
Look, you cant take 10yrs worth of bullshit and lay on Sabans feet….they had a chance at Butch Davis back in the day and the Admin blew it…thats where Alabama needs to clean house is in the ADMIN…thats 90% of Alabamas problem….and thank God that he cant be messed with by anyone is in his contract…Auburn has had 6 straight wins, but only 1 SEC appearance, 1 more than Alabama in the past 6 yrs, so whats up with that?

Also, Irwin, you are a piece of shit. You can’t seriously think that anyone would equate a loss in college football with the loss of human life. You have trivialized those events much more than Saban did by using them to take a shot at fans you don’t like. Fuck off.

So your one game better than LSU…Congrats….you lost to an unranked opponent, that I am sure, in your opinion, was more talented than Flordia’s team last year……and I am sure if your schedule would deem it so to play ranked opponents after the month of October, when it counts, you possibly would have another loss,
but I am sure you will save that one for when it counts, like the BCS championship…if you get there and lose this one, God help your credibility as a yearly highly ranked program…..
I thought Les Miles was lucky, hell, tOSU is lucky, they fall into the top 5 by being IDLE. Thats 2 weeks at the house while other teams play on…and tOSU will benefit, again, if any of them fall—Mizzou rematch vs Okla….Do you think you could win vs Michigan again in a league endorsed rematch? Would you want to play it again if there was no clear Big 10 winner? and then have to go play in the MNC?
Yeh the SEC is pissed, we play a different kind of football..we have to have attack dogs on the field to keep the players from attacking the fans..We have SEC Speed Attack Dogs…We laugh at Kansas being number 2…smoke and mirrors and glitter can only get you so far….THIS IS WHY WE NEED A PLAYOFF
