EDSBS LIVE! RETURN OF THE KING EDITION
We’ve getting close to the chillbumps portion of the season: big final battle scenes, moving speeches, tons of CGI monsters and decapitations. Join us tonight on EDSBS Live! (7 p.m. to 9 p.m., EST) to memorialize our fallen heroes, take stock of what remains, and push forward to glory, victory, and possibly both.

Oh, and Florida State sucks, sucks, sucks. SUCKS. Sucks. Geno Hayes, you broke Tebow’s heart, all right…VITH YOUUURRR SAAAAHD UND PATHETIC PLAY AND ZE SAAHHHHD UND PATHETIC PLAAHHHY OF YOUUUR COMRADEZZZ HAHAHAHHHHAAAAAA!!!! [/Austrian voice of gloating, horridly biased Governator triumphspeak.]
No, but seriously: you suck forever. There’s film and everything. (Watch the video around the kids, as there’s very loud profanities sung over it.)
Talk to you tonight.

One of the most amazing things to happen in this wild season is that those Gators lost 3 games.
Damn it’s been fun so far.
Also, I can’t believe I’m typing this, but I really hope OSU goes to the title game so that my Dawgs get a trip to Pasedena.

I just want to throw this out there. Conference Championship Games are worthless most of the time.
Seriously, what are we going to achieve this year through the Conference championship games?
VT plays BC in a rematch.
Mizzu plays OU in a rematch.
LSU plays a 3 loss Tenn team that is not as good as Georgia or Florida.
The Pac 10 is the only conference that has it right. Every team plays every team every year.
The Big Ten, this year, was able to settle the conference championship on the field with Ohio State and Michigan playing for the outright title. What good would a conference championship game been this year in the Big Ten?
And here’s the most ironic part of the whole thing, Georgia actually benefits from not playing the SEC CG.
Historically, where has the conference championships really helped in determining a National Champion?
In 2003 OU lost the Big 12 CCG and still played for the NC. In 2004 Auburn won the SEC CCG and still didn’t play for the NC.
Since the inception of the conference championship games we have seen the first 2 teams in college football history win a conference title with 3 conference losses. LSU in 2001 and FSU in 2005. How is that making the game better?
Dump the 12 game schedule, everyone get their conferences down to 10 teams and every conference play a round robin. Conference champions from that system play in a play off for the NC. With 6 BCS conferences you take the 6 champions, add 1 non BCS conference champion, and 1 BCS at large team. Play an 8 team playoff for the title.

I don’t get why people think Tebow is so awesome. Yeah, he looked okay beating Florida State…..but its Florida State – this ain’t the Bobby Bowden team of old.
And he’s up for the Heisman? Are you kidding me? You people do realize that he led you to some spectacular LOSSES this year amongst your chief rivals right???
You LOST to the Dawgs…BIG, HUGE, MONUMENTAL
You LOST to Auburn
You LOST to LSU
He couldn’t handle the big SEC foes. Period. Not to mention the fact that noone deserves the Heisman when you do nothing but cry like a bitch after losing.
Pathetic.

“And here’s the most ironic part of the whole thing, Georgia actually benefits from not playing the SEC CG.”
It’s one thing for people to assume you have a loser mentality, it’s another to confirm it in print.
By playing in the SECCG, Georgia would have the opportunity to … oh, I don’t know … win a conference championship? And not just any old conference championship, but the SEC? Instead, they will go to one of the meaningless bowls (of which they are all meaningless, sans the BCS title game).
I wish my Gators had displayed better maturity in this rebuilding year to have another shot at LSU, but it was not in the cards. Instead, we go to essentially a meaningless bowl, just like Georgia will.
Your statement was so pathetic as to have me shaking my head in amazement. You lose, sir. Good day.

HireCoachO says:
Dawgfan, here’s why Tebow is a Heisman contender. Each loss was really close, with the exception of Georgia. The Georgia had a Tebow at bad health. The LSU game almost went the other way, as did the Auburn game. If a couple plays went the other way, the Gators would be 11-1. Also, Tebow plays in the toughest conference in the nation and has 51 Touchdowns. 50-fucking 1 TD’s. That’s insane. He has no RB’s and took the burden himself. He’s only 19 with 12 starts, and probably throws 1 risky pass a game
(better than Stafford). He can read defenses well (as the 6 picks show), and is a freak of nature. And to say he looked ok against FSU, he tore them up. He tore up Tennessee too, and they took you guys to the woodshed. I’ll say Georgia is good, but if there was a rematch, I’m taking the Gators. The Gator D has gotten better and there’s actually all the receivers.
And I can’t wait to play you d-bags next year. I got a written arrest for underage drinking, and we lost. Next year I’m gonna be 21 and we will rock your shit.

Give it a rest DawgFan, I hate the Gators as much as anyone, but you’ve got to give Tebow his due.
He’s had at least one rushing and one passing TD every game this year, and he hasn’t thrown more than one pick in any game, either. His lowest passer rating was almost 115 against LSU back when Dorsey still had two good knees.
He’s had more rushing TDs this year than any player in the history of the SEC. That includes Herschel.
Giving a kid his due doesn’t mean you aren’t being a good Dawg fan.

Which situation would Georgia rather be in:
playing Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl in a game where they would get no credit if they had won but would have been a laughing stock if they had lost?
OR playing in the Orange Bowl against a good Virginia Tech team in which a victory would probably make them a 2008 preseason top-three team?

Are you aware that this year’s Gator offense is the 3rd best in Gator history? That it’s significantly better than last year’s BCS Championship Squad? You must not watch a lot of football otherwise you’d know that the reason the Gators lost 3 games is because the defense sucks.

I love Tebow but can’t really argue with Dawgfan. In the 3 losses, the Tebow carried the Gators to well below their 43 pt per game avg. He gets credit for the 59 point outings but no accountability for the 17-24-30 point SEC losses? Sorry, can’t buy it. Likewise with McFadden. Think we need to look elsewhere for the Heisman award. That kid from Mizzou looked pretty good last night. Winning does have a cachet versus 3 or 4 loss one-man shows.

Actually, The UF O only scored 23 on UGA. 7 came via a pick 6. Give Tebow the trophy. Who cares anyway? However, I will argue one point on Tebow- I don’t think he reads Ds at all. He always goes for the primary receiver or runs. He isn’t making bad reads because he really isn’t reading at all. That is the beauty of the spread option- you really don’t have to, there will almost always be a man-on-man matchup and the O pretty much gets to dictate which one it is.

My train of thought was that if Tennessee upsets LSU, Georgia gets a BCS at large. I was also thinking that if WVU and Mizzu both lose, Georgia could very well end up in the NCG without having to play in the conference championship game.
Sure, if Georgia plays in the SEC CG and wins they get the automatic BCS bid, but if they lose, the go to a real shitty bowl, whereas now they are pretty much a lock at a BCS at large with a shot at the NC without having to play another game.
My other point regarding conference championship games this year is that the possibility exists that a 3 loss Tennessee team that was BLOWN OUT in 3 games, one of which was a PAC 10 team (side note: ND is 2-1 against PAC 10 and 0-4 against the Big Ten) could win the SEC, with a much better 2 loss Georgia team sites at home watching.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that I think that SEC defenses as whole, this year, are not that good. I’m sure the SEC offenses have a little to do with it, but there are been too many high scoring games this year.
Cal hangs 45 on Tenn.
WVU hangs 31 on MSU in the first quarter and half.
Mizzu hangs 38 on Ole Miss.
ULM scores 21 on Bama.
FSU scores 21 on Bama.
Wake Forest scores 31 on Vandy.
Troy scores 31 on Florida.
Auburn might be the only team in the conference to play somewhat consistent defense.

My impression is that the Big Ten is way off this year in terms of talent. I don’t know of any other conference that had a top 10 ranked team lose to a I-AA team who then beat the team that beat the conference champion, or had their conference championship team be so mediocre on offense with a defense that was never tested yet is proclaimed by Big Ten apologists as the best defense ever.
Iowa might be the only team in the conference to play somewhat consistently bad on both sides of the ball.

Just a quick thought on Florida’s offensive output and Mr. Tebow’s numbers; does anyone know if Florida has a back-up quarterback? There have been several games where Florida has had a comfortable lead, situations where most coaches put in their second string players so they too can get some playing time, and yet the Baby Rhino is still in the game. I’m the first to give the guy his due; he’s a great QB and a serious offensive threat, BUT, methinks some of the numbers are there because the coach, not having an NC kinda year, would be OK with a Heisman Trophy winner on his team.
Have to agree that for the most part SEC defenses are not that good this year.
Also agree that the SEC Championship is a big deal, but the Vols kicked our butts, so we sit this one out.
