NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The Orgeron is out at Ole Miss, according to Joe Schad of ESPN, who’s practically an honorary coroner today after announcing both Callahan’s termination and now Orgeron.
We’re heartbroken. The Orgeron Era can’t die. He just…he just can’t. He’s big, tough, and aggressive, just like a Hummer! He’s gettin’ pelts on da rakrootin’ trail! He gotta da Jevan Snead a-comin intah da Oxfahd fo-a throwing da heapah touchdowns in 2008!
In all seriousness, this is sad as hell. We’re left looking through the scrapbook now, watching the photos bubble up under our tears.
Just one more time, for old times sake. Play it Jo-Jo. YOU PLAYED IT FOR HIM, NOW PLAY IT FOR US. (Slams fist down drunkenly, tears gleaming in our eyes.) Play it again, Jo-Jo.
We imagine Robert Khayat did this over the phone, since you’d have to engrave the Orgeron’s name on magical shackles a la Hellboy to restrain him before telling him he couldn’t come back to work in person. They’d have to call in Rasputin for the whole thing.
This leaves the pesky question of who will take the Ole Miss job. Exquisitely timed as always, Ole Miss has fired a coach just in time to compete against Texas A&M, Michigan, Nebraska, and god knows what other larger, more monied programs will fire their coaches in the next ten minutes–not to mention the vacancies gaping after the guys who fill those positions leave their current positions.

Re 164, don’t cry for the OBC on this one. This one’s on him. From the time South Carolina took the lead, he coached like Lloyd Carr.
Three straight runs into the middle on the last possession, and four man rush/zone D (with backup DB’s due to multiple injuries) on 3rd and 18 and 4th and 4 gave this one away.

I think Missouri is going to win so they have to play Oklahoma and then who is number one in the BCS? W. VA? this season has been so confusing.

don’t know if it’s been said yet (just got back from OU vs. “the” oklahoma state university), but DEMAND Okl. def.c. Brent Venables to Ole Miss and Coach O to OU as the new def. c. YAYAYAYAYAYA. Lemsday. Oh, and healthy Oklahoma vs. healthy USC would be the real national title game. I’d say LSU is better than both, but the coach is batshit crazy.

Sounds about right. I was just going to make the traditional central Washington/bestiality tangent, but carry on.

Looks like Auburn fans will win the flame wars over Bama fans for another year.

We’re fools! We fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never hope for a Vandy or Kentucky win against Tennessee to get you into the SECCG ’cause they’ll lead you on and then kick you right in the nuts.

wvu and mizzou wouldnt be a bad game, but honestly i will be paying a lot more attention to the other games come january. mizzou certainly is playing well tonight and between the two, at least it doesnt appear to be a blowout like last year.
as for ty at wash… i mean, come on, at notre dame he played golf practically every day of the year, because, lets be honest, all great recruiters do that between march and november… right? oh, but let’s not forget… its not his horrible production or lack of recruiting that will get him canned - remember, he’s black.

I believe Tommy Tuberville is a follower of the absurdist philosophy, because he is always smirking on the sidelines, mocking our attempts to find meaning in life.

@Brandon Lang:
This year, at Tennessee, Boyd had 150+ on the ground, and I don’t remember how many receiving yards. And 2 touchdowns last year in the Clemson game. That’s what I can remember off the top of my head.
