and there was much rejoicing!

The message boards are lit up with the relief of an entire state.

It’s a party, bitches!

No, it’s the underlying wonder that when they say “multiple sources…” one of those could possibly be 40/29 anchorwoman Donna Bragg.

Obviously I am retarded because all I saw was a presser to combine the AD departments in Fayetteville and a Chancellor giving a non-answer, answer.

What am I missing?

I’m with Coop. I ended up reading the family mononucleosis primer. Learned some stuff, though.

Whahh?

Nutt out at Arkansas . . . where’s this coming from?

I’ll need a minute.

Story seems to be redacted. Nothing up there now. Anyone have another link?

So who do they hire? Who can they get that is better? This is an incredible fan base (for full disclosure, I am a Gator fan living in the 501, represent!) that have just grown tired of Nutt. After this year, the cupboard is bare, the best high school talent goes out of state the last 2 years and the negativity has just been incredible even when they were winning last year. I hear the delusional Jimmy Johnson rumors and laugh. Maybe Broyles will take the gig since he is retiring as AD.

But c’mon connected Arkie fans! Tell me who takes this gig? Pinkell? Kraggthorp? or do they bring in a top DC from a major program? Pellini, Strong, Muschamp? Are any of these guys better than Nutt? I hear Barry Switzer is available, come to think of it, maybe Hedley (i mean Franchionne) is the logical choice.

weird. Not on their front page… Guess there are bigger stories down there.

Not on the front page because the Arkansas Horsefucking Season is in full swing

Well, when as I paid for the gasoline today, someone in the line ahead of me mentioned that ol’ Butch Davis was ellign his house, and that Jimmy ‘The Hair’ Johnson was sniffing around campus this week.

Pure, unbridled speculation and gossip on the intertubes …

You know who else is done? Dennis Dixon’s season and Heisman drive. And by extension, Oregon and all of its dreams.

Butch Davis is probably #1 on the list of most people as a realistic candidate – there are the crazy "Jimmy Johnson is coming home!’ rumors, which I get a kick out off too. It won’t be a coordinator unless it simply has to be a coordinator. I really have no idea who the list will consist of and neither do any of the folks I know back in Arkansas who usually have a clue about such matters.

by Jerkwheat on Nov 16, 2007 10:42 PM EST reply actions

No. N-O. Butch is ours. You’re not taking him away from us.

by Digital Headbutt on Nov 16, 2007 11:00 PM EST reply actions

Our long, national nightmare is over.

I know we are the laughing stock of the SEC, but I don’t care. I know everyone looks down on us because we are poor ol’ Arkansas, but there are many, many coaches out there better than Houston Nutt. IMAGINE if he was your coach. Ugh.

Butch, Muschamp (even if we are motherfuckers), Pellini, Charlie Strong, Kirk Ferentz, Tubbs, Peterson @ Boise, and Chizik are realistic/desired candidates. The fan base is clamoring for a big name hire obviously, but look at what happened w/ our basketball hire last year.

by Ulysses S. McGill on Nov 16, 2007 11:31 PM EST reply actions

Well, the Nebraska fans will nominate Callahan, the A&M fans will nominate Franchione, and the ND fans will nominate big, fat Charlie.

But think what Paul Johnson could do with those running backs!

No one is mentioning Jerry Jones??

by baconboy on Nov 16, 2007 11:39 PM EST reply actions

As I think about it, the real loser here is Orson. What’s he going to have to write about in July now?? He’s probably drowning his sorrows and wearing a black armband right now. He must hate to lose a content provider like Nutt…

a: no What To Watch is hurting my soul. please make it stop.
b: i just saw a commercial with the former ol’ ball coach hawking digorno pizza. he coached a team called the “otters” who were forced to wear dresses whilst playing. and SOS is on sideline, eating pizza.

i can’t stop laughing.

#16,

I hear Carl Torbush is available.

by Herb on Nov 17, 2007 10:56 AM EST reply actions

How comforting.

by Digital Headbutt on Nov 17, 2007 11:54 AM EST reply actions

Nutt’s record of very modest success on the field (with a couple of blown years, namely 2003 and this year) combined with all the nonsense in which he has chosen to involve himself mean this was nessacery. If the next coach isn’t as successful as Nutt ( a very real possibility, as much as I hate to admit it), but he will be better-liked than Nutt so long as he doesn’t decide that players/coaches who get more media attention than him need to be run out of the state.

Nutt would be a good fit at Baylor, by which I mean that they both kinda suck.

by whoopspig on Nov 17, 2007 12:23 PM EST reply actions

Nutt always found a way to lose 2-3 games each year due to boneheaded game plans or bad gameday coaching. Oh, and he also couldn’t build a passing game. Or develop the pretty good talent he had (in spite of letting the best in state recruits go to other schools).

by blacksuit on Nov 17, 2007 2:07 PM EST reply actions

Heard an insider today. Nutt will resign, he has 4 offers ( Baylor, SMU and didn’t catch the other 2) on the table. They are offering job to Butch Davis and getting money together for his buyout package. Much rejoicing, prefer Kenny Hatfield, David Cuttcliffe or about 4 others myself. Board had voted last week and Nutt only got 2 votes to keep him on. Resigning he still gets to walk away with a couple million. See Nolan sometimes it pays to just take the money and go quielty into the dark night instead of signing your checks all over to lawyers, slinging mud on the state that made you, not the other way around. No one is bigger than the program and never will be. Too bad Nutt didn’t learn that. Nutt can also blame this on his over reaction, and overly aggressive lawyers! I have to go study for my LSAT, have a Jim Dandy Day :)

by dixiehog on Nov 17, 2007 4:21 PM EST reply actions

he had the best player in the country for two straight years and nothing to show for it. his insistence on using “his guys” into the game (see casey dick’s stats today) instead of letting d-mac have a chance at the heisman is unforgiveable in a lost season like this.

by Adam on Nov 17, 2007 11:28 PM EST reply actions

Now he’s saying the reports are just rumors and he’s not leaving or some BS.

by blacksuit on Nov 17, 2007 11:34 PM EST reply actions

….the story never quite goes as planned with El Loco Porcino.

by Will on Nov 17, 2007 11:41 PM EST reply actions

Houston’s not out. If this came from Clay Henry its just a bunch of shit! Houston Nutts gonna continue his winning ways at Arkansas at least one more year. And Sooner fans, we’ll see you at the Cotton Bowl!

by Nick on Nov 18, 2007 12:22 PM EST reply actions

Next year is our year, let Nutt take us to the promise land. Our starters will probably be— QB-Casey Dick, RB- Mike Smith, HB- D.J. Williams, WR- Crosby Tuck, WR- Lucas Miller, TE- Ben Cleveland, OT- Jose Valdez, OG- Mitch Petrus, C- Jonathan Luigs, OG- Damarcus Love, OT- Mike Aguirre, DE- Adrian Davis, DT- Malcolm Sheppard, DT- Ernest Mitchell, DE- Antwain Robinson, LB- Freddie Fairchild, LB- Elston Forte, LB- Wendell Davis, CB-Jamar Love, CB-Jerell Norton, S- Walter Leandre, S-Raashad Johnson. If you follow the Hogs you can see this is gonna be a better team then this year.
