Mcready got fired for being an asshole and a Paul Finebaum wannabe. His 'negativity' was not limited to Bama... actually he had a negative attitude toward big time college football in general, and the SEC in particular. Constant jibes at SEC "student athletes" and the "fraud" of SEC football players being considered college students...

He is also a die-hard Cubs fan...in other words, not quite right for south Alabama...

#8: Because it started off bad. They tried to copy Auburn (again) and initally let the thing loose off the upper deck.

It took the grounds crew 3 weeks to clean the mess up.

Mr Pelican Pants - Good Tagline....

11/16/1907 - Alabama and Auburn tie in a football game. Alabama changes it's name from the Thin Red Line to the Crimson Tide.

Today is the Crimson Tied Centennial.

Oh, and Oklahoma was admitted as a state today too.

Hate to say it, but grew up a Bammer fan. Got cured at an early enough age so that it didn't cause too much of a drop in my IQ.

Isn't Felix Jones out for the season?

Orson,
As a man and a journalist, allegedly, what do you think of this story out of Mobile,Al about Neal McReady being fired for not being pro-Bama enough...
WNSP fires McCready from sports host job
Friday, November 16, 2007
By MIKE BRANTLEY
TV &Media Editor
Neal McCready, a Press-Register sports reporter and columnist, lost his moonlighting job as a local radio sports program co-host when Mobile's WNSP-FM 105.5 fired him after his show Wednesday, according to McCready and station management.

McCready, who is still employed by the Press-Register, said he was fired as co-host of the weekday "Afternoon Sports Drive" program because of a perception that he "wasn't pro-Alabama enough."

"The reason that they gave me for my firing was advertisers, specifically Alabama fans who were advertisers, pulling their ads because of a perception of negativity on my part about Alabama," McCready told the newspaper Thursday

But the radio station's management Thursday denied McCready's assertion that Alabama football boosters are directly responsible for WNSP parting ways with him.

"It is totally untrue that we were forced by Alabama boosters" to fire McCready, said WNSP Program Director Tim Camp. "We make our own decisions in our business."

However, Camp acknowledged that complaints by some of the show's advertisers were taken into consideration when the decision was made to fire McCready.

"Neal has a negative style," Camp said. Anybody who "listens to him on the radio can gather he likes to stir the pot. ... We have had some advertisers who are interested in pulling ad dollars from the show because they don't like his negativity. That is something we have to consider."

"Afternoon Sports Drive," airing from 2 until 5 p.m., will continue with co-host Jed Williams and various fill-in co-hosts until a replacement for McCready is named, Camp said.

The program features commentary on sports news of the day by its hosts, guests and listeners who phone in their views.

McCready said he takes issue with those who may say he is "anti-Alabama." It just so happens, he said, that the Alabama football program fell onto hard times during the years he was on the air at WNSP.

"During the last five years, Alabama hasn't won the Iron Bowl and hasn't been a very good program, and there is not a good way to spin that," McCready said. "Had Alabama won five Iron Bowls in a row and its program was in the same shape as Auburn is and has been over the last five years, I'd still be doing the show. ... I've been fired because I've been honest about Alabama."

Camp said, "If the advertisers don't like the show, they are not going to sponsor it. And if we can't get sponsors for a show, it's not going to last very long. I can give you a laundry list of programs that used to be on WNSP that we have dropped because of a lack of advertisers. That is part of the business."
So who could be behind this.....(Dana Carvey Church Lady voice) I dont know, maybe SABANNNNNNNNNNNN?
