I was a fan of SU football since the ‘59 National Championship season – - and continued supporting the program through Pasqualoni’s best years. But – - NOW – - SU football is an embarassment – - and it is seemingly obvious that the new Chancellor, the new Athletic Director and, especially, the new Coach, do not have a sufficient commitment nor sufficient knowledge, expertise and experience to develop and manage a successful football program. Time to get rid of all three!

( Is it not ironic that a native northeasterner, a former SU quarterback, and an SU bachelor’s and master’s degree-holder – - who is also married to an SU alumna – - has turned a former non-entity, going-nowhere-doing-nothing, football program into the talk of the Big East?)

Robinson and the AD must go – - and the Chancellor should at least engage someone with expertise in developing a top-tier college football program as a working consultant.

That was the year before, on the Smurf Turf, when P.J. Daniels, Hallowed Be His Name, Breaker of Necks, averaged 9.9 yards per carry for over 300 yards rushing against Tulsa.

Coincidentally, this was the first bowl game for Tulsa’s shiny new head coach, Steve Kragthrope.

I think it’s worth pointing out that Greg Robinson was hired to replace Paul Pasqualoni as head coach. Paul Pasqualoni was basically fired ON AIR during the 2004 Champs Sports Bowl when Georgia Tech beat them 54-14 and REGGIE BALL was named Player of the Game. By going 12/19 for 200 yards and 2/1, and rushing for another 40 and a TD.

Good to see that they hired up.

I’m shaking my head at the idea that someone is touting that Fiesta Bowl against OSU as evidence that Weis is a good coach. I knew that the loss to USC a couple of years ago was Weis’ best win, but now a thorough beating is being referenced as a positive. And did the same Notre Dame fan then really imply that playing in the SEC would be easier? Just when you start feeling sorry for these people….

Wow this guy sounds exactly like our soon to be fired hc Callahan. The arrogance of guys like Robinson, Weis, and mostly Callahan is amazing. Callahan talks to Nebraskan’s as if we are ignorant dumb hicks that know nothing about football. I guess he does get the last laugh when he leaves town in two weeks with the $3 M paycheck.

Croom was 9-25 after 3 seasons.
So there is hope, although I don’t think Croom was sporting the hubris that Robinson and some of the others have.

I guess the trick for ADs is figuring out who can bring the program out of a tailspin and who can’t, which isn’t always the easiest thing to do.
