Your conf can pick up a 12th team and have a championship game, suddenly you’d have the same wait as Florida did, but then you wouldn’t have any excuses for getting slaughtered on national TV, would you?

I don’t know what the current stats are, but as of opening day 2005 the SEC had the most players on NFL rosters. The ACC (thanks mainly to FSU and Miami) and the Big Ten were about 30 players behind them and then there was a sharp dropoff to the Pac 10. So top to bottom the SEC boasts more talent most seasons. Which isn’t to say that the SEC is always the best conference, particularly in a season like this where so much of the talent at the top programs is young.

Wasn’t necessarily directing that at you, TAFKA. You’re not the only OSU fan here, and you’re certainly not the most obnoxious one either.

And you’re right, it doesn’t make sense to decide to suspend the guys and not do it immediately. Only thing I can think of is they didn’t have someone on call to replace them.

And yes, the delay before the national championship game, whether 5 weeks or 7, is completely absurd. Two weeks is okay. Five (which is what it is for those conferences that play in early December) is way too much, not even factoring in that some teams finish their schedule earlier. Perhaps the Big Ten should consider pushing the end of the schedule back a week – it would give teams a chance to have a bye week during the season. But let’s not forget that Florida had an insanely long layoff as well.

I’m just curious, do the people who talk about SEC Speed really believe what they are saying? As a USC fan, I know that Ohio State is the only team in the country with more players drafted to the NFL than USC over the last 10 years.

How do you address this? Is your contention that NFL scouts don’t recognize or aren’t looking for speed? If so, do you actually watch football?

Not to mention that Ohio State’s defense kept up with one of the fastest offenses in CFB history in 2002 Miami. Willis McGahee, Kellen Winslow Jr., and Roscoe Parrish? Are you kidding?

I’d really like someone who believes that “SEC Speed” really exists in any meaningful way to address this.

I am just pissed that the Big Ten office allowed these clowns to call a game knowing they were scheduled to be suspended on the 17th. All games are important and deserve to be properly officiated, especially games that have National Championship implications.

No other sport would tolerate officiating at the hands of a crew that is “SCHEDULED” to be suspended or fired. But hey, no other sport would tolerate a 50 day layoff between playoff games either…just ask the Colorado Rockies.

Just for shits and giggles, let’s ask the NFL to postpone the Superbowl 52 days after the divisional championship games. NFL coaches hate the 1 week layoff, imagine if they had to wait 8.

For all the whining by OSU fans about the call (which, admittedly, was obviously wrong on the replay), they seem to have forgotten that they got away with a similar situation against MSU (a receiver going out of bounds, then coming back in to catch it on 3rd and long from their own 1). That led to a TD as well, in a game that was decided by 7 points. So if you’re going to argue that this wasn’t a legitimate loss, you have to argue that the MSU game wasn’t a legitimate win either. I disagree with both, for the record – MSU had its chances, and couldn’t get the job done; same is true for OSU against Illinois.

Our guys didn’t deserve to win the fucking game! I don’t give a shit about that fumble, either. The defense let the motherfucker run a good 80 yards before getting him down, and that wasn’t even the worst part of the deal.

Some of my fellow “fans” need to shut the fuck up. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some heavy drinking and half-assed parenting to do.

My Bucks got beat Fair and Square, a win on Saturday and the season is a huge success for a team that lost so much talent the year prior.

If our Juniors stick around for next year, Its going to a lot of fun a lot fun to see them play at SC next year.

The rule makes sense to an extent since teams let up after the whistle and it would affect the recovery. Or would you prefer to have replay officials trying to determine who would have recovered the ball based if the whistle hadn’t blown? Sure, in the case of the Illinois fumble it’s easy, but in most cases there is a group of players around the ball and it would be impossible to decide who would corral it. Calls get missed. Deal with it. Georgia was screwed several times against Auburn and Florida. They sucked it up and won.

First of all, I don’t need reminders on how much dick we suck in bowl games outside of the Big 12 conference, I’ve attended most of them and watched all of them for the past 20 years. Yes we suck. Good point. Next, Nutt does “well” in the regular season and sucks in big games / bowl games. Look at the 0-3 stat you flashed. All bowl games, though Nutt was just around for 2 of those — All I said was that DMAC was injured against Wisc. and it’s rare to see anyone bring him down from behind (heh). I don’t even understand your second paragraph. So is the Big Televen faster than the SEC? I don’t give a shit, all I want is a win. Speed didn’t help us against Tenn and it sure as hell didn’t help you against Illinois or Florida last year. All I know is that unless we’re playing against Texas, we play like a bunch of jackasses in bowl games, which has to be a reflection of the coaching staff since they have a damn month to prepare for it.

Yoyo #24 – I know! WTF? I was screaming at the set. There were at least two big 4th down plays where both DMAC and Felix were on the sidelines (before Felix got hurt). How he’s not in the game on every big play is a mystery. I’ve tried to support Nutt, but when we’re running fourth and 1/2 and we half a heisman candidate who loves to run people the fuck over on the sideline, it’s inexcusable. Bring on the Croom!

Just a reminder, Arkansas is 0-3 in its last 3 games against the Big Ten. Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan. In fact, Arkansas is 2-11 in their last 13 bowl games. That is borderline ND like. Arkansas lost to fricking UNLV for god’s sake. Has Nut been coaching at Arkansas for the last 13 years?

Arkansas is 1-5 against the Big Ten including a 64-7 beating in Madison, Wisconsin in 1912. Was Nutt coaching then? Just wondering.
