MMA GUYS>FOOTBALL PLAYERS. ALLEGEDLY
First, in factual news: LSU QB Ryan Perrilloux has been cleared of any wrongdoing in an incident at the Varsity in Baton Rouge this past Friday, and will be allowed to play in this weekend’s game versus Alabama. Linebacker Derrick Odom, however, will be charged with something later today and then dismissed from the team.
This all comes from WJBO, and is likely close to factual. We’d like to think this account of what happened at the Varsity is just as factual. However, this is the internet, and like Ed Orgeron taking off his shirt and challenging everyone on the Ole Miss football team to fight, it’s at the very least truthy enough to repeat. So remember: it’s not fact, but it’s fact-esque. And that’s awesome enough for us.
Concussed? Sure. Scurred? Hell no, and loving it. Saturday night, one of the LSU football players was “performing” (rapping) at the Varsity (LSU had a bye last week). So naturally, a lot of the team showed up in support. Xavier Carter, who has found some trouble when hanging out with Odom and Perriloux in the past, was also at the bar that night. Apparently, one of the bouncers there had gotten into a fight with Carter a few years back. There were a few words between the bouncer and Carter, but things eventually died down between the two. However, Odom didn’t want to let things die down. So he’s running his mouth and starting shit with the bouncer as well. Perriloux is there, not stopping things but not backing down either.
At the same time, there were a bunch of local mixed martial arts guys having a party upstairs at the bar. One of these guys was friends with the bouncer, and the next thing you know, you have MMA guys and football players talking shit. From what I heard, the testosterone was through the roof, as you can imagine. So the night ends and they’re kicking people out, and the MMA guy and Odom end up in the parking lot, where the fight breaks out. Needless to say, the MMA guy beats the dogshit out of Odom. Perriloux was supposedly the one who threatened to go get a gun, but when you’re getting your ass spanked by a bunch of steriod junkies who fight for a living, what other choice do you have? (Besides not fighting to begin with, but that’s when you lose street cred, and next thing you know you’re getting raped in prison. And Odom ain’t no punk bitch).
Nope. He may be a menace to public safety and squanderer of a football scholarship to a fine university, but when you willingly take on someone with a neck like watermain and visible backne, you, sir, are no punk bitch. Thick-skulled? Possibly retarded? Cursed with an acute lack of understanding of applying force to the tender, breakable parts of a body in an disciplined rapid fashion? Yes.
Punk bitch, though? No, sir. And Derrick Odom may take that “not punk bitch” status and leave the LSU Tigers holding it proudly. Street value=0$, and exactly several million less than an NFL draft pick’s signing bonus.

1
Not the version I heard from someone who was there but who cares? I like this one more. “Not punk bitch” status works better here.

There are so many versions of the “real story” floating around Baton Rouge, nobody knows for sure. What it all boils down to is a bunch of football players and bouncers getting in a fist fight, with threats of guns etc - but nothing went past that. The ring leader in all stories centralizes around Odom. RP in some stories is an innocent victim, and in others is an instigator.
It appears 2 players will be charged and kicked off the team - Odom & Benton.
RP has been cleared and will be reinstated to practice.

How Ryan “Well daisy if you do” Perrilloux is still around is beyond me since pointing a gun at someone’s chest isn’t what I like to see from football players at my alma mater.
It’s also no small wonder that the coaches enjoy watching RP handoff so much in games since he gets plenty of practice with handing off firearms with his buddies when faced with a strong side blitz of the police.
Basically, Texas really dodged a bullet when RP decided to go to LSU.
-Odom did indeed get his ass whipped.
-There were no pregnant girlfriends there for Varsity employees to whup up on, RP and Odom made that up.
-The cops, surprise surprise, had no interest in the players but in the guys from the Varsity and the Varsity called the cops out there.

In another version, Crockett & Tubbs jumped out of the boat and halted RP’s South African Drug Dealer from escaping to a waiting jet on the runway. They then had a car chase to the varsity, and then had some blow and lost them.
I swear on a stack of Marvel comics it’s true.

I love that fact as well. Then my smile turns upside down when I realize that ass RP is still here. Even though he should’ve been gone back in the summer.
But yeah, just cause you play football for a top ten team, doesn’t mean you can fight. And Odom sure doesn’t. Punk bitch status might be his after all.
Jeremy Benton caught a good beatin’ as well.
It’s nice if both of them are gone, but they should’ve been gone along time ago. It is angering and shameful as an alumnus and season ticket holder that they are still around and representing my school.

The guy wouldn’t have had anything whipped if he were one of Saban’s players, etc.
Simple assault, two counts property damage and unauthorized entry. That was in December and now this. Two arrests for a redshirt freshman? Shouldn’t there be a standard, More Varsity Letters Than Mugshots rule?
What was it again that Randy Newman said about LSU?

As if there weren’t enough “story lines” for this coming weekend, we now have LSU players fighting and Bama back in the doghouse with NCAA.
I heard the game is now at 5:00 instead of 3:30. I guess they need an extra 90 minutes to fan the flames and soap oprify the game.
I’m just glad that Bama’s offenses include textbooks and not guns/violence, for a change. Though, I’m sure they’ll mention that we had some players arrested a couple of months ago.

RP’s days are numbered. He’s a continual distraction to the team, whether it be for saying he’s going to win four Heisman’s or if it’s fighting.
Right now in Baton Rouge, on LSU’s campus, there’s a nervous relief. Relief that he’ll be there for the ‘Bama game, nervous tension because no one knows how long it’ll be before he’s in trouble again. And many LSU graduates are down right angry that their school’s name is being trotted out as Thug U and would love to see both RP and Odom off the team.
I, myself, am not surprised that RP has been cleared and will play this weekend. What will surprise me is if LSU beats ‘Bama convincingly. I expect another heart attack special courtesy of Les Miles.

I would take 3-1 odds that RP makes it through 3 or 4 years at LSU and only leaves via his own volition to declare for the draft.
He has a knack for the plausible explanation of “being in the wrong place at the wrong time,” and just being a bystander to the action.
This is the 2nd time in almost 3 months that I have read premature accounts by a LSU fan on this site, saying how RP was in the middle of something and his ass is sure grass.
Well, every time, and now I am including the riverboat gambling situation, he comes out smelling like a rose compared to everyone/anyone else.
And, Miles and, honestly LSU, want to keep RP around.

I’d like to dedicate these lyrics to Derrick “Aint no Punk Bitch” Odom……
I’m the cream of the crop, I rise to the top
I never eat a pig cause a pig is a cop
Or better yet a terminator
Like Arnold Schwarzenegger
Try’n to play me out like as if my name was Sega
But I ain’t going out like no punk bitch
Get used to one style and you know I might switch
………………..
Anyone stepping to me you’ll get burned
Cause I got lyrics and you ain’t got none
So if you come to battle bring a shotgun
But if you do you’re a fool, cause I duel to the death
Try and step to me you’ll take your last breath
I gots the skill, come get your fill
Cause when I shoot ta give, I shoot to kill
…………..
I am sure this was playing in the background for the MMA guys shooting pool……

What I can’t figure is why Xavier Carter can’t stay away from shit like this. He’s a world-class sprinter (in the factual sense, not the “Brent Musberger lazily describing a guy who’s pretty fast” sense) with plenty of earning potential in Europe and the upcoming indoor track season, yet instead of training, inking Nike endorsements and keeping his head down, he’s hanging around Baton Rouge menacing people and generally being an asshole.

Odom will be charged with criminal damage to property. He allegedly came back to the club and busted out someone’s windshield.
A bouncer and his girlfriend had told police that RP had come back 24 hours later and pointed a gun at them, but the surveillance tape didn’t back up their story. They’ve since told police they don’t want to say anything else.

Interestingly enough, of the three masked men who came back to the club to exact revenge, police were able to only positively identify Odom - a bench warmer - using just his clothing, but not the other two mystery men.

A back up linebacker doesn’t have much to lose in the way of signing bonuses; he may think he has but up until now his cash value is zero.
Had he been a starter for a couple of years it would be different but given his attitude he wouldn’t have made it anyway.

from espn: “In September, Odom was arrested for the second time in less than a month, accused of damaging an LSU student’s vehicle. Miles suspended Odom for three weeks in August, after the linebacker was arrested for damaging another LSU student’s vehicle and threatening the student. On Aug. 27, Odom apologized to the victims of the August incident and agreed to pay restitution.”
