RIPLY: Auburn's official athletic site lists average attendances greater than 80000 since 1993. Not good enough? New Mexico State's box scores records the attendance at Auburn's second least exciting game this year at 83,012. LSUSports.net records the attendance of the LSU/Auburn game in '06 at 87,451. The Big East records the attendance for this year's late-as-hell South Florida game as 82,617. Again, comparing JHE to JHW is like comparing an 800 pound gorilla to an 802 pound gorilla. It doesn't matter. But nice try, though.

Not saying Jimbo Fisher isn’t a good coach, but he ain’t exactly lighting it up at FSU. LSU is scoring more PPG this year than last year and thats minus 3 first round draft picks.

Trickett comes from West Virginia, where the Mountaineers have posted back-to-back 11-win seasons. He recruited star quarterback Patrick White to WVU, and was among the key recruiters at Auburn under Terry Bowden from 1993-1998. Fisher, also an Auburn assistant during the Terry Bowden era, went on to coach seven seasons at LSU. He counts LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell, who will likely be an NFL first-round draft in April, among his prized recruiting catches…thats mad skillz on the recruiting trail bro..

RIPLY: Both Jordan-Hare East and West are larger than many (if not all) NFL stadiums. You’re comparing an Excursion to a Suburban. Big fucking deal. But I hope those little wins mostly help you feel better. Mostly.

As an LSU fan, I can honestly say Nick Saban was the reason our football program was resurrected. He is a PROGRAM BUILDER, and a great recruiter. Nobody knows for sure what he will do long term (since he hasn’t stayed long at any job he has had), but he really only had 2 outstanding years at LSU – 2001 & 2003 – where we won the SEC and National Championship, and only one year with less than 2 losses. Where Saban made up was in facility building, money raising and recruiting – his specialties. He was masterful at deflecting criticism and accepting praise (i.e. players didn’t execute, play for 60 minutes, the process bla bla).

Miles is more of a player’s coach. He comes across as a dumbass on TV sometimes, but he is actually a very smart, genuine coach. The players respect him and the coaches are content. Miles does a very good job at surrounding himself with great coaching talent. I have never seen a more talented group of coordinators and position coaches at LSU in the last 30 years as I do now.

So give the credit to Saban for awakening the sleeping giant. Give Miles the credit for not wrecking the car and improving the program.

I would like to call this section of the post:
“The Saban Effect”, much like the movie “Butterfly Effect”…….. If a Coach comes into the SEC, and other coaches bail for other jobs, can he claim the credit?
Are they changing jobs for a better deal, or better talent, or “going home”? How many Championships will LSU have left on the field after Saturdays loss?
