OK I’ll start it.

Bama fans are slack-jawed, booger-eating morons. Auburn fans all live in trailers and shovel shit for a living.

Big Ten rulz-SEC drools

That should create a 100 comment war.

We should strike out for new ground, try to get the lone Minnesota fan out there fired up about whoever their rival is. Or get some nice BYU/Colorado State hate going. Better yet, those tax dodging, blueblooded, slow, inbred, lily white, minoroty fearing, book loving Ivy Leaguers need to throw down.

That or we can all go to youtube and check out Dethklok music and videos and discuss the coming Metalocalypse.

In my estimation though, there are only about 1200 readers. I probably go to the page 25 times a day.

Brewster Crew can confirm, but I believe Minnesota has more stuff to play for than anybody.

vs. Michigan for the Little Brown Jug
vs. Wisconsin for Paul Bunyan’s Axe
vs. Iowa for Floyd of Rosedale (porcelain pig)

we’re all lawyers/ law students here, right?

anyone know anything about perfecting liens on standing timber?

by PW on Oct 31, 2007 2:46 PM EDT reply actions

That’s correct, 3 trophies still to play for this year, 1 off the schedule this year (Governor’s Victory Bell vs. Penn State). We just need to add a bronze statue of a guy missing a tackle with Purdue?

Iowa sucks, and Wisconsin isn’t top 10 anymore. Throw in the fact that I don’t have to see Mason anymore, and everything’s coming up Milhouse (outside the whole 1-8, losing to a FCS team, and all…).

by Brewster Crew on Oct 31, 2007 2:51 PM EDT reply actions

a half-assed westlaw search sent me to La. 10:9-109 which I believe corresponds to UCC art. 9. Something about security interests in fixtures, yada, yada, yada.

by rut on Oct 31, 2007 3:02 PM EDT reply actions

I don’t recall standing timber being a fixture, but I also recall finding Secured Transactions extremely boring and having to concentrate to do all those problems prior to class, or when I knew I was getting called on.

File with the proper authorities and you can’t go wrong was my blanket answer on every exam. All about PRIORITY was another good answer, as I recall.

There has to be a chart in your ST textbook to answer your question, though.

The other thing I know about ST is that your exam is going to be much more difficult and tricky than any ST issue you will ever have while practicing law, much like the majority of exams you have taken, with the exception of T&E.

As it turns out, lawyers from 30 years ago had no clue what they were doing when drafting wills and explicitly declaring the beneficiaries’ interests when they didn’t go the intestate route.

Fire can make sure they don’t sell the timber.

Oooh, Brewster, thanks for reminding me- next weekend we go for the Illibuck trophy.

This prestigious award is given to the winner of the Ohio State-illinois matchup, and is, of course, a wooden turtle.

Wooo.

by Pants McPants on Oct 31, 2007 3:30 PM EDT reply actions

Wait – one question – is the standing timber you talk about the Stanford Cardinal??

This is a football blog, afterall…

by NewAZTiger on Oct 31, 2007 3:34 PM EDT reply actions

Hey Orson, you know what would be sweet? Dropping all those shity banner ads, the mile long categories link that I have used all of twice, and a simple html tag in between your embedded images and subtext.

Let’s all be honest, we come here to read Orson’s unbelievably awesome writing and pound his follow up threads with threadjacks…we don’t need banners, category links, or any of that other bull shit getting in the way or slowing us down.

This is division one blogging, if you want banner ads, and slow-loading pages go play intramurals brother, go play intramurals.

the link in comment 17 refers to standing timber.

That f’king wooden Turtle is ours this weekend…like Penn State, we have some unfinished business to take care of with Wiscy…damn Badgers.

by Clemson327 on Oct 31, 2007 4:01 PM EDT reply actions

  1. - You are a gigantic retard. Who puts up those banner ads?

Perhaps, just maybe, it is website operator who wants to make a profit on his venture, i.e. giving O the bandwidth to do his thing.

O might also get a piece of the action now, since he brings all these people to this website.

At any rate, again, you are a retard. Actually, being retarded in this context would be insulting retards.

#13:

The Gophers lost the Little Brown Jug for another year last Saturday (sadly). Illinois is up this weekend (Homecoming). Then Floyd of Rosedale (actually bronze, not porcelain—it is a very heavy trophy). Then Paul Bunyan’s Axe is up for grabs in the season finale. Before Paul Bunyan’s Axe, Minnesota and Wisconsin played for the “Slab of Bacon” trophy starting in 1930 until it went missing in the 1940s. It turned up in a Camp Randall storage room in 1994, mysteriously inscribed with all of the U of M-UW game scores through 1970. By then, however, the Gophers and Badgers were playing for the Axe, of course. I don’t know where the Slab of Bacon is now.

#21:

Coop, I’m a T&E attorney too (or was for several years, with a big, high-end firm until leaving two years ago for a different but related job in charitable gift planning . . . there is something to be said for not having to deal with the billable hour).

Orson,
If you wouldn’t use that server on the Cayman Islands that you use for wiring your millions to your offshore accounts, we wouldn’t have this problem. Remember, only 10,000.00 dollars,US, per day ,per withdrawal,is allowed. Next time your down there, tell “Wild Bill” Gates he owes “the bookie” money on that Florida/Georgia game. If he wants him too, he can just put it on his Black American Express Centurion Card, just like A-Rod.

Couldn’t you all have entered into careers that produce and / or provide a valuble service to society rather than be part of, to be put as delicately as possible, a nescessary evil?
