OHIO STATE FANS BECOME SYMPATHETIC. LIGHTNING STRIKES UP.
Ohio State fans have achieved the impossible. Despite craving the taste of teargas from birth, allegedly beating up handicapped people, and entering each game with the homicidal zeal of an ultra-nationalist Spartak supporter armed with a Camelbak full of cut rate vodka distilled from radioactive Ukrainian produce, you have become an object of sympathy.
Mission accomplished, Penn State fans. You now have the mantle of playing the barbarians in Capital One commercials. You can even now crush that small businessmen smugly in the ads, too, you dicks. You never give him a chance.
THAT WAS THE SICKEST THING I’VE EVER SEEN! YOU ARE THE MAN! We’re shocked they didn’t fistpound and then immediately play tummysticks out of sheer excitement before watching Penn State die a slow, miserable death 37-17 to Ohio State. We commend the Florida legislature for their foresight in passing a bill to make firing your weapon under threat legal, as these people clearly would have been shot in response to the beer-pelting. (Remember: don’t tase me, bro! Shoot me. Tasing is for real bitches.)
Subcommandante Wayne says he thinks these guys are bitches and all, and he woulda laid down some asskick flooring free of charge, but the Grand Am was broken and he couldn’t get to the game, man.
(Multiple tips: Yost, Big Ten Tailgate.)

As a Buckeye fan, I’d like to say 2 things:
1. Cock D – Thank you for the intelligent take on the whole thing. You sir, are a gentleman and welcome in C-bus anytime. Assholes like these Pikers (how apropos) exist everywhere, but do not represent the overall mindset of any school/place. They need to be singled out and dealt with harshly.
2. Stapler – You are a complete moron. I’d suggest a test, wherein your mother takes a loaded beer can to the face, to then see if you think it so inconsequential. I suspect, however, that you don’t even know who your mother is…or that she’d be willing to claim your sorry, ignorant ass.

This is only a reflection of society in the sense that the incident was recorded and shared on the internet, making it easy for many people to view it and anonymously condemn the actions. If the worst thing we have to get worked up about in today’s internet environment is loud idiots throwing beer at people because of a football jersey, that’s a lot better than it could be.

Man, enough moaning! Yeah, full beers aren’t cool to throw, I agree and don’t defend them. But where does this notion come from that you have to shake hands and offer beer to and swap girlfriends with visiting opponents? Rule of thumb – when traveling, avoid the other team’s student section, especially if you smell alcohol. I should hope that anyone violating this gets a coke cup tossed at them. I warned my old man not to wear his BC shirt to the student section for an ND game. It’s part of the game – go watch an NFL game if you want passionless, corporate safe entertainment.

Bryan says:
As Associate to the President for Administration, I help Dr. Spanier address the important issues that are brought to his attention.
Thank you for sharing your concerns about the behavior of some of our fans. Media accounts following the game indicated that fans were spirited, but overall exhibited better behavior, so I am disappointed to see the youtube video. Our Office of Police Services is investigating it in an attempt to identify those involved. It is extremely unfortunate and embarrassing that some fans engage in behavior that reflects badly on all Penn Staters, the majority of whom are respectful and well-mannered.
A group of students and administrators have been meeting to encourage better behavior from our fans. A number of initiatives are underway–posters have been placed around campus, ads have been placed in the student newspaper and on television promoting good sportsmanship. Prior to the Ohio State game, a message from the Athletic Director was sent to all students via the student newswire concerning appropriate fan behavior. Coach Paterno also addressed the issue when he visited the students camping outside the stadium. Clearly more can be done and we will continue to work on this.
Coordinating these efforts into an effective campaign that garners results does not happen overnight, but we are committed to the effort and to its success.
I will be sure the President sees your note. Thank you for taking the time to write.
Sincerely,
Tom Poole
Thomas G. Poole, Ph.D.

As a PSU alumni, let me just say how embarrassing this video is. I’m ashamed to be associated with these a-holes. Thankfully, like every thing else, the a-holes are typically only the few. Kudos to the dude who sent this to Spanier and the State College PD. I hope they find the a-holes.

Give it a few more years and we’ll all be just a bunch of zombies walking around. This entire country will be a PC nirvana where no one shows any emotion about anything. Men like Richt will be thrown in jail forever despite the fact that what he did was a nonstory as well. To all you people who don’t think this youtube won’t change things, well, it will. More and more and more laws will get passed. Even looking at someone cross eyed will result in a felony with a “mandatory minimum” of 25 years. And we’re all fools for not carefully entering this brave new world, but rather we are sprinting towards it as fast as we can. I mean, doing a flip into the endzone is like the absolute end of the world to most of you people. There is still a small minority of us though who say who fucking cares but everyday I fear that our numbers are growing smaller and smaller, EDSBS readers, welcome to the nanny state. We asked for it; hell, we practically begged for it.

Perhaps I was a little too harsh in my anger at Frats. I shouldn’t condemn an entire group of people based on the actions of a few morons.
I’m glad to see that most people are getting the general idea that these were just a bunch of morons and not reflective of Penn State’s entire fanbase.
I wouldn’t be suprised at all, however, if this kid is now famous on campus and is a hero in his frat house. He may be Mudd outside of State College, but inside he’s probably a hero. Ditto the kid who ran up and attempted to spike the fan with a beer.
“No harm, no foul” is bullshit. It’s like playing with a loaded gun and thinking it’s fine until someone takes one in the temple. It’s in the same class as he shouldn’t have been wearing the jersey; what, is the opposing fan supposed to show up disguised, then throw off his overcoat in the stadium and yell “ah-HA!”?

go f&^% yourself. I have been to dozens of college football games all over the country supporting my team and have never witnessed anything close to this. When we drive to the game in a opposing teams city that we aren’t familiar with we park wherever we can find a spot. Nine times out of ten this is somewhere on campus like a frat house or rental house where students are selling spots. This doesn’t give them the right to pelt us with beer cans. The beauty of college football is getting there early and walking through campus and taking in all that that town has to offer. I’ll make you a deal. If Penn State ever plays OU I’ll let you park at my house and me and my friends will pelt you with beer cans, hell we will even throw a few bottles at you since you don’t think it’s that big of a deal.

I guess going 5-10 against Ohio State and 3-10 against Michigan since joining the Big Ten has its affect on people. They were a power winning national championships before joining the Big Ten. Wisconsin and Purdue have more Rose bowl appearances.
Taking the #1 player in the country, Terrelle Pryor, out of Pennsylvania and bringing him to Ohio just took on a whole new level of sweetness. Not only did we steamroll your team, we’re going to take the best prospect in the country out of your state. Tressel has already secured 3 of the 10 top OL for 2008 and Josh Jenkins is still a possibility; it’s got to give you a sick feeling in your stomach to know that Tressel is putting together his best recruiting class ever and the crown jewel will come from your state.

I talked to couple people who were at the IFC President’s Council meeting tonite and this video was brought up. Turns out (at least the consensus after the meeting) was that the dbags who were doing most of the beer throwing weren’t even Penn State students…just some drunk, cocky Pikes from Pitt. I can’t confirm that 100%, but it seems like it was a case of people visiting and thinking ‘How can we make them remember us coming up? I know, let’s be complete f*cking a-holes, throw beer at Ohio State fans, video tape it and put it on the internet.’ Guess that’s what happens when your school’s last significant game was your team getting blown out by Utah in 2005.

Solution:
Blow the house up this weekend just befor senior day and show the demolition on the jumbotrons at the stadium and send a feed to tOSU.
Background:
I grew up in State College and just think this was only a matter of time. If I am right the house in question resides on the opposite side of campus from downtown. Meaning they have a 3 block buffer that seems to allow them to carry on like savages. I took a Wisc. friend to the game earlier this month and luckly was able to keep him away from that crap. (walked right by joes house too) The northen edge of campus is much more sedate (something to do with Joe i think). The southern state college neighborhood would be well severed getting rid of these massive houses and redeveloping those lots. The frats can use the proceeds to build anew on campus or northside houses.
