OHIO STATE FANS BECOME SYMPATHETIC. LIGHTNING STRIKES UP.
Ohio State fans have achieved the impossible. Despite craving the taste of teargas from birth, allegedly beating up handicapped people, and entering each game with the homicidal zeal of an ultra-nationalist Spartak supporter armed with a Camelbak full of cut rate vodka distilled from radioactive Ukrainian produce, you have become an object of sympathy.
Mission accomplished, Penn State fans. You now have the mantle of playing the barbarians in Capital One commercials. You can even now crush that small businessmen smugly in the ads, too, you dicks. You never give him a chance.
THAT WAS THE SICKEST THING I’VE EVER SEEN! YOU ARE THE MAN! We’re shocked they didn’t fistpound and then immediately play tummysticks out of sheer excitement before watching Penn State die a slow, miserable death 37-17 to Ohio State. We commend the Florida legislature for their foresight in passing a bill to make firing your weapon under threat legal, as these people clearly would have been shot in response to the beer-pelting. (Remember: don’t tase me, bro! Shoot me. Tasing is for real bitches.)
Subcommandante Wayne says he thinks these guys are bitches and all, and he woulda laid down some asskick flooring free of charge, but the Grand Am was broken and he couldn’t get to the game, man.

Just a petty comment/observation here:
Many of you reply to comments by number. Like, ‘hey #43″
Then later on the #s don’t seem to match what you are replying too. I could be wrong but I think some people’s posts are held up until approved by someone at EDSBS. When they get added in later, it throws the numbering off. So you may reply to #43, but later in the day, it may change to #44. I could be wrong though, just an observation over the past few months. Either that or all you drunks are replying to messages with one eye open and writing down the wrong #.
Perhaps reply to the name/number so if the numbering is off, people can still try to figure why post your pithy, humorous comment is in response to.

I think that everyone who was involved should be punished. If this occured outside of a sporting event and in someone’s backyard, there would have been charges. I don’t think this should just be condoned because it was game day.
This reflects poorly on those individuals and the Fraternatity in question (Pike). I wouldn’t hold it against PSU; I’m sure at any school with frats you would find degenerate trolls such as those in the video.
I personally detest fraternatities because I believe they foster a dangerous level of mob violence mentality that leads to very dumb and dangerous moments like this.
Remember, a mob is only as smart as it’s dumbest member. I believe that there is a great deal of competition for the title of biggest fool in that mosh pit of society’s dregs.

Stapler, I’ve walked with my team’s colors in some pretty shitty places in the SEC and got called all kinds of crap names, but it always ends up being good natured ribbing and a mutual respect for one another. Shit, at the end of an argument we might even shotgun a beer or two. This type of shit is straight hooliganism and I hope that these shits get prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. NCAA atheltics should be about sportsmanship, honor, and most of all fun. Assholes like these give college students a bad name, football fans a bad name, and fraternity members a bad name. Pikes do have a reputation for being douchebags here, so this plus my experience with Ohio State fans at other frats leads me to believe that this was an isolated incident, no widespread harassment.
As to someone who mentioned that there were two other frats sited for fighting this weekend…that’s a rather frequent occurrence and wasn’t necessarily involving Ohio State fans

As Associate to the President for Administration, I help Dr. Spanier address the important issues that are brought to his attention.
Thank you for sharing your concerns about the behavior of some of our fans. Media accounts following the game indicated that fans were spirited, but overall exhibited better behavior, so I am disappointed to see the youtube video. Our Office of Police Services is investigating it in an attempt to identify those involved. It is extremely unfortunate and embarrassing that some fans engage in behavior that reflects badly on all Penn Staters, the majority of whom are respectful and well-mannered.
A group of students and administrators have been meeting to encourage better behavior from our fans. A number of initiatives are underway–posters have been placed around campus, ads have been placed in the student newspaper and on television promoting good sportsmanship. Prior to the Ohio State game, a message from the Athletic Director was sent to all students via the student newswire concerning appropriate fan behavior. Coach Paterno also addressed the issue when he visited the students camping outside the stadium. Clearly more can be done and we will continue to work on this.
Coordinating these efforts into an effective campaign that garners results does not happen overnight, but we are committed to the effort and to its success.
I will be sure the President sees your note. Thank you for taking the time to write.
Sincerely,
Tom Poole

“No harm, no foul” is bullshit. It’s like playing with a loaded gun and thinking it’s fine until someone takes one in the temple. It’s in the same class as he shouldn’t have been wearing the jersey; what, is the opposing fan supposed to show up disguised, then throw off his overcoat in the stadium and yell “ah-HA!”?

go f&^% yourself. I have been to dozens of college football games all over the country supporting my team and have never witnessed anything close to this. When we drive to the game in a opposing teams city that we aren’t familiar with we park wherever we can find a spot. Nine times out of ten this is somewhere on campus like a frat house or rental house where students are selling spots. This doesn’t give them the right to pelt us with beer cans. The beauty of college football is getting there early and walking through campus and taking in all that that town has to offer. I’ll make you a deal. If Penn State ever plays OU I’ll let you park at my house and me and my friends will pelt you with beer cans, hell we will even throw a few bottles at you since you don’t think it’s that big of a deal.

Taking the #1 player in the country, Terrelle Pryor, out of Pennsylvania and bringing him to Ohio just took on a whole new level of sweetness. Not only did we steamroll your team, we’re going to take the best prospect in the country out of your state. Tressel has already secured 3 of the 10 top OL for 2008 and Josh Jenkins is still a possibility; it’s got to give you a sick feeling in your stomach to know that Tressel is putting together his best recruiting class ever and the crown jewel will come from your state.

Blow the house up this weekend just befor senior day and show the demolition on the jumbotrons at the stadium and send a feed to tOSU.
Background:
I grew up in State College and just think this was only a matter of time. If I am right the house in question resides on the opposite side of campus from downtown. Meaning they have a 3 block buffer that seems to allow them to carry on like savages. I took a Wisc. friend to the game earlier this month and luckly was able to keep him away from that crap. (walked right by joes house too) The northen edge of campus is much more sedate (something to do with Joe i think). The southern state college neighborhood would be well severed getting rid of these massive houses and redeveloping those lots. The frats can use the proceeds to build anew on campus or northside houses.

Here’s the sad thing. Everyone here is admitting to “all having their own wackos” as fans. Yet you still clump all Ohio State fans together as “Classlss assholes”. So, if you’ll listen to a “Classless asshole” for a bit…
Personally, I was at that game as well. I got the traditional “Fuck Ohio” and whatnot, but nothing too bad for the most part. I had a couple of things thrown at me, which was pretty scary for a 5′3” 110 lb girl from the middle of nowhere, I’ll tell you that. It’s especially intimidating when there were a ton of frat guys doing it. It wasn’t anywhere near that video, but just walking around tailgates, I got that kind of stuff too. Honestly, though, this wasn’t even remotely as bad as it was in 2005.
Nevertheless, like I said before, there’s tons of crazies out there for EVERY college football team, and yes, for probably EVERY sports team out there. However, as much of the violent, scary stuff I got at me, I also had the “You’re school sucks. Just kidding, good luck” at me too. So please, don’t dump the title of “moronic idiots” on all Penn State fans just because of some stupid idiots. Be aware that not all fans of ANY school are the same. I’m sure if you went to other tailgates at your school, stupid stuff along these lines probably happens all the time. I can tell you I have (unfortunately) witnessed people at Ohio State throwing stuff at other fans (NEVER beer bottles, beer, etc), but I’ve also seen Michigan State fans throwing stuff, and even Michigan fans launching full beer bottles off of the tops of buildings at Penn State fans. So really, it happens everywhere. It shouldn’t be acceptable anywhere, especially at this level, but let’s all realize that this is a select group of fans, and not the entirety of Penn State in this video. I’m sure the majority of Penn State fans don’t like the behavior of these guys any more than the rest of us.

You all seemed shocked that this happened when I’m sure you did the same kind of things at whatever college you attended. Maybe you didn’t dump a beer on an opposing fans head, but you were probably one in the crowd yelling and screaming.
I was at this backyard tailgate earlier in the day before this stuff happened and nothing like this was going on. I even talked to the Ohio State fans and they were having a good time. As more beer was consumed, and it got closer to game time, people got a little out of control. No reason to stereotype this fraternity and school because of what a PITT fan did at Penn State.

I heard stories of things going down against Michigan fans in Columbus but I can’t say I ever witnessed them with my own eyes. And for a Rose Bowl game I actually wore a USC shirt and had seats in the OSU student section (ask Orson, undergrad allegence trumps graduate school allegence) and I had no problems at all. I did get a boo against me loud enough to be picked up and commented on by the broadcasters before kickoff, but that was only because one of the guys I was with whipped up the crowd as I was headed to my seat. But nothing was thrown at me and no sort of physical confrontation ever took place and the OSU fans left me alone once my friend shut up.

After the game many PSU students were congratulating the Ohio State fans on the win and wishing them good luck, but no one talks about that or cares because you just want the negative to shine through.

Dedicated to TBDBITL
The last time Ohio State came to Happy Valley, in 2005, the marching
band also came. Last night, the band wasn’t there, but it was in
spirit, co-captain and tackle Kirk Barton said.
“We dedicated this to our band, because they couldn’t come back after
having (urine) bombs and mus balls thrown at them last (time),” Barton
said. “So let them know we’re thinking about them tonight.”
“Real quick before I go on, I just want to say we dedicated this to our band, well, that’s something I came up with because they couldn’t come back after they had like piss bombs and blood balls thrown at them last year, so this is for our band,” said OSU senior offensive tackle Kirk Barton, interrupting a football-related question to get out his message to the band.
“Make sure you let them know we’re thinking about them right now,” Barton said.
“It was so bad they couldn’t come back. Let them know we’re thinking about them.
“It’s not all Penn State fans, it only takes a couple, but it spoils the whole experience of college football for our band. Just let them know we’re thinking about them.”

goPIKAatPSU,
Are you serious or are you suddenly feeling shame for being a part of a mob? I very highly doubt that anything like this has happened to you or anyone you know while visiting OSU. If any OSU fan did do something like this I guarantee there would be backlash from OTHER OSU FANS as this kind of pathetic display isn’t tolerated around Columbus. There used to be an off-campus problem with student parties and property destruction but never have I seen a report of of Columbus where an opposing fan was assaulted.
Yes, the Pitt fan ran up to them and smashed the can on the guy’s head, but what about the guy right after him who did the same thing? What about the other 15-some objects that were thrown before the Pitt fan even entered frame? Did the Pitt fan throw all of those cans and donuts from various angles all at the same time? Would you have condoned police action if, perhaps, rocks were thrown?
Trash talking, yelling, and screaming are expected at any sporting event but this was just flat out assault. The fact you bundle the two distinctly different actions together shows your ignorance. Perhaps you really were in the crowd when all of this went down but you were either too stupid or drunk (or both) to remember.
If you really are a PSU PIKE I’m sure your president would give you this same advice I’m about to give you: shut your mouth and play your part as an apologetic member of your little frat. The last time I checked when a fraternity gets shut down the members get kicked out of the house…….

I am a PIKE at THE Ohio State University, and this is NOT how we treat our brothers when they come to visit us. You say the same thing happened when PSU came to Ohio State? I think not, because our “brothers” at PSU never came to visit us and ended up having beers thrown at them, I can guarantee you that if that did ever even come close to happening, they would get their ass kicked and thrown out of our house. We love going to visit other chapters and other chapters come to visit us, and we always show them a good time. My two brothers were the ones who went to visit and they spoke with your pledges, and your pledges are quality guys, I’ll give you that. But they also let the cat out the bag about how you guys haze them. You guys didn’t welcome your own brothers from the start, your pussy of a president gave a 3 line apology, your Vice President called my president 20 times trying to apologize like the little bitch he is. So fuck all of you, you are the ones that aren’t the real PIKES, and if you get kicked off campus, I will not be mad at all. You’re all a bunch of douches, not true PIKE gentlemen, you don’t stand for what WE truly represent, so just hand over your PIKE card and leave this up to the REAL PIKES. “All of you act like this only happens at Penn State. When PSU was at Ohio State, the same thing happened, it just wasn’t video taped. The guy dumping the beer on the one head was a Pitt student, so don’t hold all the blame on this frat and school.
The guy who video taped this sucks. I know him personally and he is an idiot.”

These guys were welcome there and I saw them Friday night and again on Saturday. If they felt so unwelcome, why would they return the next day?
You say you would never treat another brother like this. Talk to them and find out who were being the assholes – was it the brothers living there or friends and acquaintances that showed up for the tailgate. I’m pretty sure you’re going to find out it was not the brotherhood causing the problems.
After watching the video I can assure you that I did not see one Penn State PIKE brother involved in the incident. And when the video moves back to the crowded party no one is rowdy and everyone seems to be looking over to see what is going on. It wasn’t an organized incident and didn’t include everyone at the party. This was a result of a few kids being assholes, so don’t blame the entire party and/or fraternity.
I’m sorry it happened, but we can’t go back and change it so we have to move on. It was only Naddy Light thrown at them, not rocks or hand grenades. Move on with your life, no one is hurt.

Let’s see one of your moronic brothers post a video where they throw those full cans of beer at you at point blank range and how you feel about it. Then let’s do it again only change the cast from your frat brothers to a mob of screaming drunks that don’t like you because of what you’re wearing that day. Your blatant ignorance speaks volumes to your education (not necessarily PSU’s fault – probably your upbringing). Congratulations on being a part of the problem.

As far as a whole fanbase getting a bad rap because of the actions of a few, that is just what happens and you have to deal with it. It only takes a fan to take a dump in a styrofoam cooler or drunkenly have the new coach sign her boobs and the whole school takes grief about it. You won’t be the last.
In general the frats at tOSU were very mellow and subdued when I was there (certainly compared to the ones at USC). The people most likely to cause trouble in Columbus were goobers who came in from off campus to raise hell on gameday (sort of like the guy from Pitt in the PSU video).

Did you see when the video turned around? There was no raging mob, most of the people had no idea what was going on and didn’t care. It was a few idiots that caused this to go down, none of which who lived there.
If throwing beer cans is so vicious and hurts real bad, why was the kid walking in slow motion when he was leaving? He almost looked like he was enjoying the attention. Obviously that is still not a reason to throw anything at anyone, but it didn’t help the situation.
And now you are getting real personal over a forum saying things you would never say to a person face to face. You know nothing about me and nothing about my upbringing. Keep your discussion on the topic at hand and not on me. People like you are frustrating in forums. I didn’t participate and wasn’t there at the time, so don’t turn your attack to me.

There’s nothing wrong with heckling opposing fans, but to violently chuck beer cans at a guy IS.
The reason people reported it to the police is because what they did was illegal and disturbing. I wish some cops were on hand to see that, actually. That “Alabama Shag” kid would have gotten his ass tased.

I’m sorry I forgot to mention…beer cans do get thrown at opposing fans almost everywhere, no doubt…But that usually occurs when an opposing fan does something dumb enough to warrant such a reaction. Judging from this short clip, those OSU kids didn’t look like they provoked anyone.
I would completely understand the violence and anger from the PSU kids had the OSU guy ran by pissing all over their driveway saying, “FUCK JOEPA!! FUCK PENN STATE!!! BRAAAAAAAAAAINS!!” And it would make it worse if he had just dropped a steamer on the hood of the PIKE president’s car. But I highly doubt he did any of that.
I’m not saying violence would be the right reaction in that case, but if you are dumb enough to be an asshole in front of a crowd of proud fans, someone is likely to give you an assbeating. In my opinion this kid didn’t do that, and therefore, he shouldn’t have been abused the way he was.

It seems to me like you haven’t even watched the video. Like goPIKAatPSU said, and like the video proves, there is nothing that can even begin to be called a “mob of screaming drunk people.” Secondly, I believe the PIKEs from OSU, your brothers, stayed at the PIKE house at PSU on Friday night, and nothing happened. The fact is, from the sounds of it, you weren’t at the PIKE house at all that weekend, and therefore, have no idea of what actually happened. It’s alright though, you can run around talking all you want and contributing to a situation that is already completely overblown. Lastly, by the profanity in your posting and the personal attacks on the President and Vice President of PIKA at PSU, it seems as though you are the one who is not the “true PIKE gentleman.”

Now, why in the world would you be mudslinging on other chapters of your SAME fraternity? Perhaps because of insecurities about your chapter. You was off to the right having cans thrown at him. What does using profanity mean? Not a fucking thing, people know what they can run into reading these blogs, I’m not around a bunch of little kids and women. When a brother fucks up, or in this case a whole chapter, why would I speak very politely and scold you, obviously from the video, I need to speak how they can understand. Seems like you’re a brother, who’s afraid to come out of hiding, you’re doing an awful lot of talking on here. But if you guys don’t get your charter revoked, I may bring my fellas down there and we can show you guys how a true gentlemen acts. And I have yet to hear any reply to the allegations of hazing made by your pledges. I put that in my email to nationals also, hopefully one will speak up.

The bottom line is that the people at that party were wrong. ALL of the PSU PIKE brothers were wrong (to not stop what was happening). Usually it’s not the brothers that cause the problems, it’s visitors that come to our house and think they’re in it and run it. Obviously these Pitt kids thought that and started that situation with your OSU brothers.
I disagree that our charter should be revoked and all that shit. It’s an isolated incident. Just punish the people involved, one not being the president. The president is a good brother and does a ton for that house – it’s idiots like the VP that give PIKE at PSU a bad name.
