This is why you don’t play two QBs. I would think SOS would have learned that by now. I don’t think we were playing any actual football players in the game. I am very, VERY disappointed in my Gamecocks. And for the record, I didn’t think we were the #6 team in the county. They just proved why.

Out of conference is even uglier, except for tOSU, which will get theirs via firing squad in the BCS championship from everyone who can get a gun and shoot in their general direction, just out of pure hate for their creampuff schedule.

Just wanted to stop in and say how happy I am that we played a MAC squad (C. Michigan) today. They were/are the cure for what ails you, certainly.

As for South Carolina, such a shame. I mean, their offense has been such a juggernaut all season, and they have received no fortuity on their way to 6-1 cough Kentucky – Andre Woodson throwing the game like he was the reincarnation of ’00 Quincy Carter cough so this loss came out “nowhere.”

Seriously, all it took to beat South Carolina was a fundamentally sound defense, enter Bobby Johnson, and an offense that does not F itself over.

Of course, Vandy threw an interception at the USC 1 yard line and missed a makeable FG, not to mention having the ball inside the USC 10 yard line as time expired, so they tried to let USC back in the ballgame.

But, really, who could have seen this coming?

Well, the good folks at betus.com will tell you that I teased down Vandy’s points so that I took Vandy, +7. Just call it a hunch. ;)

Go fuck yourselves, Gamecocks. One win over us, the second in the last 10 seasons, and my bloodlust hate for you is renewed.

I mean, it is not as if everyone runs all over you on the outside because Sams and Wills are slower than molasses.

If only we had somebody who could get to the corners while toting the ball. Hmmm…..

And, just a friendly reminder: Bobby Johnson is a Clemson alum.

Once again, as always, in your brightest moment since 1984, or at least your highest ranking, someone connected to Clemson arrives to fuck you over.

Florida State
Louisiana-Monroe (1-5)
I-AA Furman
should-be-I-AA NC State (1-5)
Central Michigan

South Carolina already has wins over at least two ranked teams better than Clemson (5-2 Georgia, 6-2 Kentucky) and controls its own conference destiny. Clemson, OTOH, has done exactly jack shit.

I’m still trying to get my head around how Harrell got picked four times by a defense that couldn’t stop a I-AAFBCSWTFBBQ team in Illinois State, who gave Mizzou a decent game early on.

Yes, that’s right. While they got about 350 passing yards (mostly on dinky slants that Missouri’s linebackers couldn’t really cover well), The Pirate’s team got only 1 TD through the air as opposed to four INTs, one of which was fumbled back to TT and another one was run back.

Yet Kansas is ranked ahead of us, when they’ve played .5 good teams while the Tigers have a fairly tough schedule.

So F_cking LSU goes for it on fourth down 5 times against Florida, but in tonights game, on 4 and 1 from the 16, they kick a field goal that only puts them up by 6. Now, Auburn is driving down the field late like they usually drawing penalties and half-assed complete passes in the process. I call BS

by vegas_buckeye on Oct 21, 2007 12:34 AM EDT reply actions

Would someone please inform these announcers that an incomplete pass would have also stopped the clock…

by Stagecoach67 on Oct 21, 2007 12:34 AM EDT reply actions

I was rooting for more chaos (MAO!), but that squib kick was just stupid on Auburn’s part. They had fought to get a lead with less than four minutes left, and they give LSU a short field. .

by Digital Headbutt on Oct 21, 2007 12:35 AM EDT reply actions

Holly Rowe needs to be careful standing that close to Les Miles – his balls are so brimming with Mandom that her merely being that close could result in multiple pregnancies.

by vegas_buckeye on Oct 21, 2007 12:36 AM EDT reply actions

the point is that if that last play takes half a second longer and he drops the ball, there is no time left on the clock. LSU took too long getting to the line and it could have cost them the game

by Dave on Oct 21, 2007 12:37 AM EDT reply actions

141,

If the ball had been bobbled or tipped, that would have lengthened the play so that there would have been no time left.

SEC football is reason alone to watch football this season. There have been many tachycardia inducing finishes, and I have no vested interest in any of them (contrary to any assumptions based on my username, I don’t gamble).

Good time to be a college football addict.

by vegas_buckeye on Oct 21, 2007 12:42 AM EDT reply actions

I just finished watching a great great game in LSU-Auburn. And yet, why is everyone on ESPN trying to artifically pump up the drama over the ending? Am I missing something, or did LSU have a TO left that they would have called with :03 on the clock had the ball fallen imcomplete? Right? They still would have gotten the field goal try. Or am I seriously missing something?

by Troy on Oct 21, 2007 12:42 AM EDT reply actions

@Dave

But there were 4 seconds left when he caught it, not 1. So if he dropped it you’ve got to think they review the clock instead of letting time run out there, then LSU calls their TO, sets up the field goal, and wins that way. Right? Again, please point out if I’m missing something…

by Troy on Oct 21, 2007 12:44 AM EDT reply actions

@153

If the play wasn’t complete – say bobbled or tipped, anything that doesn’t get the ball immediately swatted to the ground – that last second ticks off the clock, ending the game and LSU’s title hopes.

That might have been the worst call I’ve ever seen.

by Yant on Oct 21, 2007 12:45 AM EDT reply actions

Agree Troy. The clock should have been at :03 after the touchdown.

Les Miles… Jesus Christ, how does he not require a special pair of slacks and an industrial-grade wheelbarrow to carry around stones like that? Unbelievable.

by Oops Pow Surprise on Oct 21, 2007 12:46 AM EDT reply actions

After analyzing the situation in a rational manner, LSU indeed would have had time for the field goal. Damn the Worldwide Leader for their brainwashing.

by John on Oct 21, 2007 12:47 AM EDT reply actions

Yant— the ball was in the receiver’s hands with 4 seconds to go. Mike Patrick is, how you say, inattentative.

by Oops Pow Surprise on Oct 21, 2007 12:47 AM EDT reply actions

I agree, Troy. The announcers were shitting themselves over the possibility that Flynn takes an extra two seconds to throw, which is indeed something to worry about if you’re calling that play. But Flynn didn’t take those extra two seconds and probably knew exactly when he had to let the ball go.

by Skip on Oct 21, 2007 12:47 AM EDT reply actions

by Stagecoach67 on Oct 21, 2007 12:48 AM EDT reply actions

@155

See 156. The difference between 1 and 4 seconds for the purposes of a final kickoff isnt much, but the different between 0 and 2 seconds had there been a tip or other incompletion would have sent the refs to the replay machine, put the time on teh clock, and then lsu gets all the time in the world to kick the field goal. again, 4 seconds left on that pass, not 1.

by Troy on Oct 21, 2007 12:49 AM EDT reply actions

No kidding Skip. Why would he wait two more seconds? So he could hit the receiver in stride as he slammed into the retaining wall next to the stands?

Well this just adds more drama to the LSU @Alabama where Saban can upset Lsu (Les Miles basically said “Fuck Alabama” when he found out that we got Nick Saban), then fuck up Auburn. Is Tenn really that bad? It looks to me that the SEC has basically turned into the WAC where we dont cover anybody and just have a shootout thru the air and dont run the ball or stop the pass. And jump passes? w/ a double pump fade away, nuttin but net???? Damn OBC took a shot @ tOSU by saying “Vandy could have played 3 small teams and be #1 like OSU” LOLOLO I love OBC sharp wit….

I thought that line was hysterical. LSU is a fine team, but perspective is in order. When LSU beats a team on the road, then they can get some credit for it.

2 losses = out of contention.

Who knows how longer Ohio State will be there.

by Stagecoach67 on Oct 21, 2007 1:19 AM EDT reply actions

Luckily, there is always one constant in college football: the CB NEVER turns around. It seems like such an easy thing to do, but they must coach them up differently. Shrug and a sigh.

AND LSU FANS SET IT OFF LIKE AN EARTHQUAKE! THAT’S LOUD LIKE THE METRODOME! NEVER HEARD OF THE METRODOME?!? WELL, IT’S FUCKING LOUD LIKE AN AIRCRAFT TAKING OFF! 172 you might like watching him suffer, but the OBC gives a great press conference after his losses.

Asked about what to do with his offense:

“Well we can’t trade any of them, so we’ll keep trying to coach them as hard as possible.”

You would think he would hate the halftime interview too but he answers the questions better than 90% of the coaches out there.

I guess he does, if you think mean spiritedness makes for a great press conference.

“We’ll just coach ’em up….” how’d that workl for him in his last job?

I thought the remark about not being able to trade any of his guys was a low blow at his players. Sure would make me feel like running through a wall for him….

Also, when you lose to an also-ran, just take it like a good sport (and a man) and accept some of the responsibility. To me, there is nothing more boring than a coach who takes full credit and deflects all responsibility

by Stagecoach67 on Oct 21, 2007 2:12 AM EDT reply actions

StageCoach67 drink a beer or something and chill out.

You clearly have some lingering hatred towards the OBC. What team do you cheer for that he has used as a whipping boy 20 years? Georgia?

He is joking. He gave Vandy props, said they were a good team. And he says positive things about his team.

He hasn’t improved USCe one iota from what he inherited from Lou Holth.

Factually untrue.

Holtz’s winning % in 6 years – 47%
OBC’s winning % in 2 years – 60%

Holtz had 33 wins total in 6 yrs as head coach at SC. OBC has 15 wins in 2 years.

First two seasons Holtz’s record was 8-15
First two seasons OBC’s record was 15-10

Last two seasons under Holtz – 11-12 (2003 – 5-7, 2004 – 6-5)

First two seasons under OBC – 15-10 (2005 – 7-5, 2006 8-5)

And so far this season they are 6-2.

Don’t ever, ever refer to USCw & USCe….not until the Cocks win a min of 10 Natl titles may they refer to themselves as USC, think up something else, be SCU or just go away (P.S. Carolina is taken too, until you win some B-ball titles)
