I thought the signs today were pretty inspired. Especially Nate Longshore’s phone number. And all the SEC/Les Miles shit talking.
Man, Jimmie Clauson is just awful. I’m so happy he decided against going to USC.

It’s been annoying that I’ve had to hunt down today’s games on the DirecTivo, but what I see so far looks like a bookie’s nightmare.
Big 10+ Network sideline reporter Dara McIntosh is cute… but this “University of Ohio” is a new one. I hope nobody’s tried to explain the two Miamis to her. And why are the BTN crew in Evanston showing overall standings, when what counts in this world is conference results?
Mallett appears to be floundering, but I understand why Lllloyd is only using Henne on the first series of each half (per the Freep).
Side note to BTN: If I see one more shot of the Grosse Point lighthouse through a wobbly camera, I swear I’m going to get seasick.

Watching Dave, Dave, Dave, Dave, and their other brother Dave, on LF Network. Those MSU (“Step into the Maroon”) and USC (“Coach, I did a competitive analysis of the DB”) ads were terrible. Like, App State terrible.

Agreed on the USC commercial, I kept waiting for the OBC to say click-clack. In a way it reminded me of the old UGA commercial “when I walked through that arch, it changed my life.”

Interesting scores Miss St beating #16 South Carolina and Illinois beating #22 Penn State. Of course SEC fans will look at both games, should both teams get beaten by lesser opponents, and claim that Miss St’s win just shows how deep the conference is while Illinois’ wins just shows how bad PSU sucks. And they will do this despite Mizzu routing Ole Miss and Mizzu barely beating Illinois (with a back QB).

Not to get into the rhetoric of a Big10/SEC pissing match, but you do realize that Illinois, led by the very same [name redacted] who seemed to get outcoached on a weekly basis in the SEC, just beat a PSU team that people were ready to put in the Rose Bowl just a week or so ago, and is currently in first place in the Big 10. Yes, Anthony Morelli sucks and PSU was/is vastly overrated, and yes there’s a lot of football left to be played. But come on, this is [name redacted] we’re talking about! What YOU do in the south, is brag about everything and anything southern, denounce anything that is not southern as being less than southern; and you are too ignorant and close-minded to think that there might be people living life all over the country who are just as happy about where they live and how they live as you are-they just don’t need to tell the world about it.

This is the same script from last year… USF knocks off WVU….then in an eerily similar game,,,,,,Auburn knocks off Florida….same week just one yr later……the upside? Florida wins out and wins another BCS Championship vs a very slow Big 10 team, maybe even tOSU for a rematch….think about it…. its like Deja Vu or Vu jaDe

In other SEC news, the Razorbacks return to SEC West Championship-of-the-World form by stunning North Texas (second-most-famous alumnus? Roy Orbison) 66-7. Coach Nutt deemed the game a “coming-out party” for embattled qb Casey Dick, who was an astounding 12 of 21 for 208 yards against the infamous “green spleen” defense. Added Nutt, “we could’ve beat anyone in the country tonight.”
Whether the Razorbacks will be able to maintain form next week against I-AA opponent Tennessee-Chattanooga, who lost by three touchdowns to Hogs’ rival The Citadel, remains to be seen.

Now that I think about it…..With all the talent the South Florida inherited from other schools that couldnt qualify “normally”, they could,in theory, run the table.
I think if someone can string together 4 quarters of football, LSU will fall. Watching USC struggle against Washington, USC isnt invincible. SO its possible for all the one loss teams to fall in line behind USF…..it could happen…….begin the fear……. every one looked ahead and just dropped their whole season when they werent looking….I call it “Premature Jubilation”

Can we finally put the following things to rest:
1. The SEC is the only conference that beats itself up. Too many top ranked teams from other conferences losing to unranked conference foes to believe that it only happens in the SEC. SEC – get off your ass, quit being pussies and start scheduling teams OOC. You’re the best conference in college fucking football, why not take the show on the road in the preseason instead of laying in the weeds. Man the fuck up.
2. AP and Coaches polls and Blogpolls. None of the above can outwit the parity and emotion of college football – only a playoff system will give us an accurate NC.
3. Nick Saban as a play-caller and defensive guru. The guy is the most overrated, overpaid, and overhyped coach in college football, period-4 Million a year? Mark Dantonio (Tressel disciple) was the real reason for his success at MSU and we all know that Saban landed in a talent gold-mine at LSU. He’s taking Bama to the bank and they are a lucky catch against Arkansas from being worse than Shula’s team last year. Fuck this guy and fuck Bama.

The time out fiasco fix is simple – go back to the old rule that only a player on the field can request one. Coaches would never allow them to play it razor close.
The change was made only two or three years ago. Chang it back!
Kickers would still be iced, but rare would be the occasion when the timing was such that kickers would make two kicks for one result.

The SEC is a swirling vortex of death and destruction, so cannibalistic , starters get injured while beating up on each other every week, so at the end of the season, each team is at the end of its depth chart and its better players are on crutches or on IR, so you never get a real true look at the “best” on either team. KY? WTF? I thought I would never see KY in a SEC Championship game, but shiiiit its a long shot. The only thing the SEC is good for is betting against the spread, except South Carolina, Spurrier has covered the last few weeks. BTW, South Florida has covered about every game and then some.

I’ll tell you what scares the shit out of me: Purdue’s schedule this year. Seriously, take a look at it. If this upset mojo continues next week and they beat OSU, they go undefeated. Penn State’s nothing and MSU probably won’t be a challenge. They have the worst schedule in D-IA and I’m damn scared of them going undefeated.
Better yet, Wisconsin could go undefeated too, never playing Purdue because of the f’d up Big 10 scheduling. If that happens, the world might as well end.

I have to agree with #313, why exactly should we allow tOSU into the MNC again? tOSU looked far more impressive last year and we all know how that turned out. Honestly, whichever team wins the Big 10 is probably going to be a joke. I mean the fact that Purdue, PURDUE has a chance to go undefeated in Big Ten play is insanity. And I’m not saying that because of their history, I’m saying that because of their play against ND today. I’m rooting for Michigan to win the Big 10 this year, they are undefeated in conference play so far.
At least we no longer have to worry about the Big 12 or Big East sneaking into the MNC this year. Well, I take that back, USF now has a chance. Could this be a repeat of 1984?

I agree. They have a few more weeks to “put it together” before the meat of their schedule begins. —Depression (deep sadness, loss of interest, trouble sleeping and eating) that gets worse, sleeping with fat women..

—Having a “death wish,” tempting fate by taking risks that could lead to death, like driving fast or through red lights -or rewatching the Florida or Texas game again.
—Losing interest in things one used to care about..like football or sex, or sex w/ a football.

Well, no. Should it happen, USF will not have the luxury of playing a 6-5 team in a second-tier bowl game. We have that to be thankful for. They left the realm of the mid-majors the day they signed onto the Big East.
After years and years of talking about the Big Three here in Florida — and I’m a huge fan of one of the three — maybe it’s time to stop treating USF like our stupid kid brother. They are real, and they are dangerous.

firstly-buckeye v. badger game is in columbus first week of november i believe.
secondly- what we need is to construct the year so all bcs conference teams play one team from each bcs conference outside their own. this will allow us to actually see how good/shitty teams from conferences outside of our own actually are compared to when our respective team plays the same team in our conference who has played the team outside ours.
example….purdue plays kentucky….florida plays kentucky…can sort of rate purdue’s squad compared to florida’s based on results of the former game compared to the latter.
thirdly- thinking about the fact this will never happen will make my head explode all over the freaking place. if you’re not even in the same division (d 1-A v. former d-1AA) as someone…don’t f’ing play them…go play a bcs team instead…..atleast move the season up in august and add 6 to 8 team play off at end of season. that’s the only way shit like this will cease to occur.

Mark it down…..it doesnt matter if there is a playoff or a plus one or vote, the SEC will be the dominate force in any decision. Ohio State wasnt even close to being worthy of playing LSU in a bowl game, much less playing Fla and getting their asses handed to em in the Natl Championship game, hell Ohio State should have played Miss. State to even qualify. So here we are this yr, Michigan sucks, ND sux, and I am pretty sure Ohio State wil follow suit, so much so Michigan will probaly beat OSU, thus spreading the mediocrity theory much further into reality. Cal, USC, LSU…. looks like the only one undefeated will be the true #1, until they face a one loss SEC team, then they will get throttled again. “It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again.”
by tOSU sucks ass on Sep 30, 2007 11:32 AM EDT reply actions
OSU matches up pretty well against Wisky. Wisky is absolutely terrible on defense, but pretty decent on offense. OSU has a stout defense, and a passable offense. Essentially, if OSU’s defense roughs up Wisky’s offense, I don’t think Wisky’s defense can stop the (admittedly mediocre) OSU offense.
Also, what the hell is going on? 5 top 10 teams lose, and of the 5 that win, only OSU and LSU win convincingly (even if they didn’t play that well). USC, Wisky, and Cal all struggled (against admittedly tougher competition).
Anyway, cue the SEC parity crying. If FLA were any damn good, they wouldn’t lose to fucking Auburn. The SEC is overgoddamnrated, and the PAC10 is clearly the best conference this year.

For all of the my-conference is-better-than-yours guys and for all the transitive properties guys let’s put them together.
Auburn hosted and beat Kansas State late, a team that went on to handle Texas. Auburn then lost to USF in a game that neither team wanted to win, honestly. And the Bulls defeated West Viriginia.
So there’s a not bad non-conference slate. And, via the transitive property, a down Auburn team is better than this Texas, West Virginia and pretty much everyone Urban has ever fielded and so on.
Do you’re own school. I don’t care. At the end of the day Wofford > App State > Michigan > Penn State > Notre Dame.
Clearly Wofford and USF should meet for the national championship.
Except Wofford lost to NC State, who handled Louisville who fell to Syracuse. The Orangemen were beat by Washington, and the Huskies fell to USC.
So its USC and USF for the title anyway.
In conclusion: The SEC is still better than you.
