Don’t be frightened, Larry, this is only a camera. Calm down, Larry! No, it’s not “stealing your soul”. It’s just getting a photo. I know, Larry, I know. Atta boy! There we go… almost done…. Done!
You can stop crying now, Larry, we’re through.

What was with the Ole Miss promo during the Miss St. game. That was an awesome technical blunder. I can’t wait for the Boston College promo during ND’s games.

I’ve seen a couple of girls from tOSU that should wear a full facemask. And a dark, dark, visor.

A classic ESPN blunder that, according to my brother, occured for approximately the 968th time last night.

It’s the 2nd day of the College Football season, and Tim Brewster is still undefeated. Fuck you, Glen Mason.
Ok, I need a favor. Where the hell can I see/hear the “yaw yaw footbaw” bit. I’ve heard it once before, and I need it again. I’ve been singing it poorly all week, including last night when I probably scared half my class into dropping. (Plus side: if they all drop, more time to watch FOOTBAW!!!!)

I’m usually a loyal devotee of Orson and his blog, but can anybody fill me in on Perriloux? When was he reinstated on the team? Did I miss this story?
by Tricky Dick on Aug 31, 2007 9:39 AM EDT reply actions
- - Yea I was like, hmmm maybe MSU is part of the university system or something, or too poor for their own commercial…but yea that was a good ESPN fuck up. Im sure that ENRAGED some MSU people.
by Brian on Aug 31, 2007 9:43 AM EDT reply actions
Regarding Perriloux…
Not sure when he was reinstated but given that the money-laundering-autograph-peddling-bank-robbery-graft-scheme occurred in Louisiana it’s likely he claimed he was just doing some field work for an advanced class in Region Civics. Thus no harm, no foul.

Ah, ’68 – back when PSU was a Boise State – more wins meant nothing to the voters and there were football players like Mike Reid.
Daddy used to say that Mike Reid was the first piano player in the marching blue band.

Henig looked like he may never walk straight again. He took MAJOR abuse last night. I wanst a compilation of said brutality.
by Allahver Fist on Aug 31, 2007 9:47 AM EDT reply actions
- - That’s particularly bad, considering this was the most attention that MSU would get from the nation for the entire season. Their one game where everyone was watchin, and the espn fucksticks can even run an ad for the right school.
The good news is, Rece Davis looked like he was in pretty good shape last night. He held up well, considering.
Oh yeah, Fuck Holtz. He picked notre dame to win 10. he’ll be laughed off the air. This weekend, GA TECH will be “America’s Other Team” as we all can unite behind our hatred of Domer football and the overrated, haughty, cocky, shit-bag attitued that pervades Domer Culture.

Kent beat Iowa State last night….I guess OSU’s schedule just got a little more legit, and the Big12 North’s rep would have suffered, had they any rep to begin with….Just pathetic…

#14,
The thing is, I think Henig started playing better when he was hurt. For the first 4 or 5 interceptions, he wasn’t hurt.

I feel like a heroin addict looking at a giant pile of high quality horse sitting on the other side of an infinitely deep chasm that’s just too wide to jump. LSU waxing MSU was my methadone, but I needs me my FIX!. AHHHHHHHHH! Why can’t saturday get here already?

re:#14 “Henig looked like he may never walk straight again. He took MAJOR abuse last night. I wanst a compilation of said brutality.”
I think that the last 3 interceptions can be excused because when he threw those balls, in all probability, Henig’s bell was rung so hard he was color blind. Seriously, a couple times he was the filling in a sandwich made with Dorsey and another Tiger tackle…

Any truth to the rumors that MSU’s defense will be using the offensive starters as their tackling dummies for the next couple of days?

“the most attention that MSU would get from the nation for the entire season”.
Until they wax bama (again) that is.
I’ll bet Saban’s ass clinched up tight as he watched that game last night – knowing that bama will be butt-raped by LSU this year – and another thumb will be raised in front of 92,000 paper sack-wearing bama fans.

Kent State! Kent State!
Get HOT Flashes!
(Seriously, though, it was a nice road win for Kent. The few, the proud who actually follow the MAC know that Kent will play at least some teams better than ISU in conference play, but it never hurts to have that trophy win to impress the casual fan.)

When do the Golden Tricycle Dialogues start again?
Also, I was wondering what sort of conversation would ensue should Mike Leach and the Orgeron ever come in contact with one another. I was thinking some series of grunts that both understood clearly, that ended in heavy drinking, severe beatings of passersby, and ofcourse some sort of pirate activity.
Wait, wouldn’t they be ther perfect combo of co-head coaches? One offensive savant drunk, and one insanely intense defensive slave driver. Plus Leach would work for booze, and Orgeron for raw meat.

I saw maybe one play of the Oregon State-Utah game. I can’t decide if the state of Oregon hates football, football fans or basic standards of fashion and decency. OSU’s uniforms are an abomination. Is it possible to ban Oregon and Oregon State from post-season play until they stop letting a heavily drug-addled George Clinton design their uniforms?

The ’73 title was awarded before the Sugar Bowl, but yes, you beat us.
But why don’t we just call ‘73 and ’66 a wash? I mean, settling for a tie with MSU? That’s horseshit football.

#36: bama is not the only team to claim a MNC after losing in a bowl game. About 5 or 6 others have done this. Some schools claim MNCs for years when they didn’t even play in a bowl game.

Willet, people would have to care enough about Alabama football to root for the team playing them. If they ever become relevant again, your comment might be true.

Okay guys,
Bama fans do have the same reputation (at least regionally) of being all “blah blah blah we were great and have blah blah blah National Championships” as Notre Dame fans do. I’ll admit that. I just can’t get over how much some in teh media play up notre dame, or even give them much attention, when they haven’t won a bowl game in 9 years, Weis hasn’t beat a top 15 team, they’ve lost everyone from last year (the returning guys are ones that got hosed by LSU last year).
What gives? I’ve at least heard balanced skepticism regarding Saban and a rough road ahead for ‘bama from the media. I just look forward to Notre Dame being humbled and exposed for what they are THIS year, and that’s a meddling middle of the road team.
by Hook'em Tide on Aug 31, 2007 11:31 AM EDT reply actions
But ND has a Clausen on the roster!
And every SEC fan knows Clausen = Championships… or maybe not

if Notre Dame was in the SEC they would be comparable to Ole Miss, .500 in conference would be considered a success, that program is such a fucking joke- look no further than the Sugar Bowl last year or when they place Oregon State during Erickson’s tenure-wooderson your team can’t hang with talent, and thats not going to change

mp, losingto MNC runner up USC with 3 seconds lefti n the game is “not hanging with talent”?
Whooping UT two years in a row is “not hanging with talent”?
God I love the hate. Every year peopel try to say we’re over-rated and every time we prove them wrong.
And for the record everyone makes bad hiring decisions, USC was “irrelevant” and going to various low level bowls for nearly a decade. Bama has had it’s fair share of sub 500 seasons.
And I guarantee you we could win the SEC. WE’d feast upon the likes of troy, western carolina and appalachain state before our titanic clashes with MSU, ole Miss, arkansas. you need to win two big games to get out of the SEC. stone.

Just wondering how many other schools can say they won a national championship in an undefeated season, beating the defending national champion in the bowl game to win the national championship.
Texas did it in 2005 right? Ohio State in 2002, 1968…any others? Remember UNDEFEATED in the regular season and then deflower the defending NC in the bowl game. That is a real man’s national champion. Everyone else is a bunch of pussies…

Hey #39 -
Did Bama tie Notre Dame in the ’73 Sugar Bowl? If they did, you have an apt analogy. Who won the ’73 MNC us or you?
P.S. the Miss St. QB position should be open tryouts this week. I could limit my int.s to 5 no problem and still lose only 45 – 0.
