EDSBS LIVE! FOOTBALL FOOTBALL FOOTBALL EDITION
EDSBS Live! Radio without commercials, songs, or clean language.
What: EDSBS Live! online radio, presenting the FOOTBALL FOOTBALL FOOTBALL edition.
When: 7:30 Eastern, 4:30 Austin Murphy Standard Time.
Where: At NowLive, where you can chat with each other and the show hosts throughout the broadcast in the online forum. Or just call (310) 984-7600.
Who: SI’s Austin Murphy, author of Saturday Rules: A Season with Trojans and Domers (and Gators and Buckeyes and Wolverines).
How excited are we?
Robot Rock excited, in honor Murphy’s summer gig covering the Tour de France.
More bands should perform in custom made robot helmets.
Since the season’s here and we don’t have time for this shit, our THREE questions for the night.
1. What game are you watching this Saturday?
WKU/Florida. Georgia Tech/Notre Dame. Georgia/Oklahoma State.
2. Upset watch - who you got?
Tech at Notre Dame. Tenuta’s defense is the only way this happens. Oklahoma State’s on notice, too, since they’ve been given the title of magically unstoppable offensive wonderteam for this season. Prove this to us in Athens, and you truly are the Juggernaut, bitches.
3. Game of intrigue?
Tennessee/Cal. If you say you know what will happen in this game, then you are the father of lies.
See you tonight,
-O.

NowLive owns. The voice of real democracy is coming back to the people on the internet. If you haven’t been to nowlive.com it basically lets anyone with a phone and a computer host their own talk show. There’s a widget to broadcast your show on your blog or website. I think the “social broadcasting†buzz word might actually have some credence now.

Oh, and as for the spaceman look, Super Furry Animals rocked in green electric light suits and a space helmet for Gruff Rhys on their Love Kraft tour a couple of years ago.

1. Bayern Munich vs Hannover and USC vs Idaho. Portions of Tennessee vs Cal
2. Does Tech over ND count as an upset? I might try to watch, out of morbid curiosity.
3. Non homer answer is Tennessee vs Cal. Homer answer is to see how USC looks on offense against Idaho.

i’m also intrigued by the Arizona/BYU game just because i think it might last 8 hours long, what with all the passing and incompletions and no real D being played by either team. it could also have one of those 55-48 type Madden scores when both guys just throw deep every play and the last one with the ball is the one who wins.

1. Kansas State/Auburn, will pretty much let me know if i should just stick my head in the oven and get it over with or maybe i’ll be able to put that off till the Tigers play LSU
2. OK State is gonna run wild on the no-D having Dwags and i’ll be here in Athens to soak up all that joyful misery
3. Wake Forest/Boston College just because noone knows what the fuck is going on in the ACC. Tennessee is gonna eat Cal’s lunch again….or maybe not, who cares? we all hate Fulmer.

1) I will probably spend all day in an ATL area Taco Mac or some other place w/ a gazillion TV’s, so pretty much all of them, at least until the SEC night games end
2) [TEAM REDACTED] over Mizzou. Why not?
3)Auburn vs. KSU- So many questions about our offense, hopefully a few will be answered, although the REALLY scary game is next weekend

Take it from me, going into Athens with the “magically unstoppable offensive wonderteam” thing going for you is slightly overrated. But, it is probably good enough for Mark May.

I’ll be attending MSU-LSU on Thursday night and Memphis-Ole Miss on Saturday. A couple of shitty games, sure, but it’s college football! What else am I going to do, play golf?
As far as upset alert, Troy and Arkansas will be verrrry interesting.
Game of intrigue, Kansas State and Auburn. Close second to UT-Cal.

1. I’ll be attending the UGA-OKSt game. I’ll keep an eye on other games at the tailgate.
2. I would pick Tech over ND, but they’re coached by Chan Gailey, so I’ll go Cal over Tennessee
3. Obviously, I find the UGA game the most intriguing matchup. I only have a vague idea of what to expect from the Dawgs this year.

Fulmer Cup alert:
Here is Auburn’s pathetic, last minute attempt to get on the Fulmer Cup big board. An offensive lineman arrested for an unpaid speeding ticket. Reports conflict as to whether this even counts as a misdemeanor or not.
http://blog.al.com/live/2007/08/auburn_tackle_dunlap_arrested.html
This is kind of like attempting a field goal with 2 minutes left in a bowl game when down by 3 touchdowns.
Seriously, if this all the magic we can muster, we are totally doomed.

1) Flying out of Charleston, WV here in a few hours to watch my Herd take on Da U in person.
2) Arkansas needs to watch out for Troy. They’re building a nice little program down there in Alabama. Also, Purdue goes down at Toledo in a mild upset.
3) Utah/Oregon State should be fun. I’ve got a sneaking suspicion Utah is gonna steal some of TCU’s Mountain West thunder. Definitely would watch that one if I wasn’t too busy enjoying Miami.

Raider Red speaks the truth. I was in Dallas for the ‘05 Cotton Bowl..TxTech did have some eye pleasers. It was at night in the bars where the real candy made an apperance. SMU Co-eds + Red Snapper shots + low lighting = sack drainage

1. Any and all football I can manage to absorb. ND-GT will be the main course, with Cal-UT as dessert.
2. Wake Forest over BC
3. ND-GT. The line is 3 points in favor of the home team, which is bookie-speak for “We haven’t a fucking clue what’s going to happen here,” and if the bookies don’t know, nobody does.
Tech lost the best player in the country and their starting QB (who was so bad it might actually be a positive that they’re starting someone with 1 game of experience).
ND lost essentially every 1st string offensive skill player on the team, as well as their defensive coordinator (who was doing such a poor job it’s probably a positive that the new defensive coordinator has 0 games of experience).
I’d love to see Weis line up the Irish in the Notre Dame Box and run it for a series with a backfield of Jones, Thomas, Aldridge, and Allen, with Carlson at TE and Grimes at WR. Even if it failed horribly I’d love to see a modified single wing in action for even a couple of plays on the major college level.

#45: a Domer talking about penis envy? That’s like someone with seven inches telling me I’m envious when I have 11 inches, which is exactly what I’d expect a Domer to say (especially Brady Quinn or that ostrich/qb).

K-State? Please. As much as I would like to think otherwise, K-State gets smoked in the second half.
Cal has a shot only because Phat Phil likes taking it up the ass.
ND inches the gnats.
LSU gets leg-humped by MSU but prevails in the end.

1. Who I’m watching - whatever is being carried by my Dad’s cable in Chucktown, SC
2. Upset: I like Tech over NBC’s investment
3. Intrigue: I’d like to see how App State does against Michigan. No doubt Michigan will win this without trouble, but curious to see what App does.
Daft Punk- I put them in the same category as fat chicks and mopeds. As long as no one from work or my friends knew about it, I’d enjoy the shit out of catching a Daft Punk show by myself.
