Whatever. In 2 days I’ll be drinking at a furious pace when LSU visits Starkville with my daughter’s Christmas on the line.
I can only hope that MSU’s Three and Out Offense (patent pending) and sheepskin condom defense show up and give me the blowout I’ve been bugging Jebus about the last two weeks.

This is your best daily affirmation yet.

TWO days left until we get Miami RedHawk football. Woot!

by DevilGrad on Aug 28, 2007 8:39 AM EDT reply actions

In my three years at SMU, this is the only Mustang football game I’ve ever wanted to attend — whenever someone asks me if I want to go to a game, I reply “Why would I want to go to a high school game?”

Alas…or should I say, Aargh, I’ve agreed to be at a world championship goat cookoff instead.

Really: http://www.bradytx.com/goat_cookoff_web/index.html

Gotta love Texas…

See you there Jorge. With 100 cocktails.

I think our offense against LUS has been 2 & out for the past 2-3 years.

Any truth to the rumor that Croom is going to unveil a new Punt on 1st Down offense?

by Will on Aug 28, 2007 8:44 AM EDT reply actions

And also, in four days it will rain mud in Lubbock.

Alas, baconboy’s attitude is typical of SMU Fan*, despite the fact they put a decent product on the field last year. That’s why Ford Stadium will be overrun by followers of the Dread Pirate Leach come Monday afternoon.

  • My Mustang wife not included…she’s one of the rare diehards.

Yea its 6 days on The dread Pirate Leach and his assault on the Tony village of Highland Park. TX. I myself am looking forward to my November trip to SMU where they will take on conference juggernaut Rice.

Love the “yarr” tag.
Though I wonder how come no “arrrgg” tag, as well?

by GamecockTony on Aug 28, 2007 9:12 AM EDT reply actions

Mike Leach: Yeargh!

Red Raider 1: Yaarrrgghh!

Red Raider 2: Yeargh?

Mike Leach: Yeaarggh…huh?

Red Raider 1: Yeah, seriously, what’s with the pirate shit?

Mike Leach: Yearg- Ya know, I’m not really sure.

Red Raider 2: Well, maybe it’s just me. I must be out of the loop. Maybe I missed a meeting?.

Mike Leach: No, no. It, it’s a valid question.

Red Raider 1: So, um, what now?

Mike Leach: Um….. I, don’t…. YEARGHH!

Red Raiders: YAAAARRRRRGHGHH!!!

by Rival on Aug 28, 2007 9:14 AM EDT reply actions

Rival, best mind your manners around the Dread Pirate Leach or you could end up taking an extra turn in the barrel.

by Wooderson on Aug 28, 2007 9:22 AM EDT reply actions

Red Raider, perhaps I should clarify…I already have a degree from UF (I’m doing doctoral work at SMU), so pretty much everything pales in comparison. And if 6-6 in the Conference USA is a decent product…I think you’ve proven my point. Perhaps I’ve become a football snob, but if you were in Gainesville in the 1990s, you’d be too.

International Talk Like a Pirate Day isn’t until September 19th. I’m thinking we won’t need a daily affirmation for that.

perhaps the saddest thing in college football is the collective dropping of the ball by the texas tech student section – why they aren’t dressed as pirates for every game boggles my mind

by okiedomer on Aug 28, 2007 9:51 AM EDT reply actions

Thursday night I’m teaching my 1st accounting class. Anyone think it’s wrong to include a breakdown of the LSU defense as part of the class? Or perhaps a breakdown of Croom’s impending termination buyout?

by Brewster Crew on Aug 28, 2007 9:59 AM EDT reply actions

International Talk Like A Pirate Day is the same day as Halo 3 coming out? I get the Pimps At Sea reference now. Did anyone see the Entourage where Jackson is at the WETA studios and they’re filming motion capture for a pirate looking video game?

Oh yeah, my Bday is thursday. Do I ask for Madden or NCAA? Anyone played both and can give me a rec?

AS YOOOOOUUU WIIIIIIIIIIISHHHH!!!!

by Signal to Noise on Aug 28, 2007 10:05 AM EDT reply actions

Jorge I will be right there with you. We need an LSU blowout senor.

Re: #19

Halo 3 comes out on the 25th.

I would ask for NCAA. Way superior to Madden.

I fully expect a USC Song Girl’s butt to be one of the final three daily affirmations.

Yea along with erin Andrew’s shapely figure.

by Brian on Aug 28, 2007 11:02 AM EDT reply actions

I’m with Humanitarian. Cue the Song Girl! You know the one!.

Yes, baconboy, it’s really easy to be a fan when your team is winning. I like to think of myself as the best fan in college football, since I’ve been going to every SMU home game, and many away games, both while in school from 90-94 and since I moved back to Dallas in 1999.

As for “high school,” I think SMU has a winning record against the SEC since coming back from the death penalty. Sure, it was Vandy and several wins against Arkansas, but I don’t think we’ve had any SEC challengers since.

Seriously, feel free to stop by our tailgate on the Boulevard, fully equipped with satellite tv, any time this season.

Re #18

Just relate the impending Croom buyout to accounting. How will the balance sheet and/or income statement be affected by the contract buyout, etc, etc. Just put it in terms of debits and credits and you’re golden…

by Maine-iak on Aug 28, 2007 12:15 PM EDT reply actions

Okay, I’ve obviously stumbled into some sort of alternate-reality. This must be Bizarro-EDSBS, because I could swear there’s an SMU fan in here smack-talking the SEC. Can’t possibly be real.

by Mr. Wrong on Aug 28, 2007 2:29 PM EDT reply actions

Not college football, but maybe a per unit analysis of what Vick stands to lose in player contract and endorsement deals per nice doggie

by Jmuthaf'nT on Aug 28, 2007 2:46 PM EDT reply actions

lotta per in thar

by Jmuthaf'nT on Aug 28, 2007 2:47 PM EDT reply actions

Okay, I went back and did some fact checking, and I had blocked out the 2 seasons we played Ole Miss and lost. But SMU is 4-4 against the Hogs moved to the SEC, so maybe I’m just smack-talking the people who wear the plastic pigs on their heads (who includes, by the way, my uncle-in-law who publishes Hogs Illustrated).

Cut me some slack. I rarely have an opportunity to smack-talk anyone once football season actually starts.

by DiamondM on Aug 28, 2007 3:11 PM EDT reply actions

I was just being smart-asstic. Feel free to talk shit to anybody you please, it’s fun. Hint: Domers seem to be a bit thin-skinned, try them.

by Mr. Wrong on Aug 28, 2007 3:18 PM EDT reply actions

Diamond: Winning over a team from the Crowe/Kines/Ford era wasn’t an accomplishment; those were the days when Arkansas was the equivalent of the modern day MSU squad.

by Will on Aug 28, 2007 3:29 PM EDT reply actions

i just wish that picture included leach’s keeper/babysitter bennie wylie.
