Any tOSU fan not concerned about the trip to Seattle could be in for a surprise.

Yeah, it goes something like this:

Wells: Hey coach
JT: yeah beanie
Wells: This stadium is really a dump
JT: we're not concerned about their stadium beanie
Wells: but I heard there were some fans concerned about our trip to Seattle
JT: the Fremont troll is not real beanie
Wells: mmkay

No BC? Come on Buddy, they have a tough conference schedule, but def. should be cracking the top 25 (ie. ahead of Hawaii, Mizzou, etc.) with Matt Ryan at the helm...

Glad I'm not the only one ready to get trashed and talk shit about my team doing things that may not happen.

For what it's worth, I vote Temple #25. I've adopted them. You can, too.

The Orgeron could rip your arms off.

Correction, 19-5 as a starter. Lots of wins over top 10 teams too.

And you should see his other thigh.

Orson, with all due respect, Brandon is 17-5 as a starter, and he has a Golden Friggin Arm.

And that bruise on his inner thigh - well, he went commando one day.

I have with held judgement on Auburn so far because this seems to be the type of situation where Tuberville has thrived over the past 9 years. In the shadows. They will play fast and loose on d and be forced to run the ball if they want to win. They usually have success at that.
However, my Auburn friends swear that the coaching staff doesn't "trust" (thier words not mine) Cox to throw the ball more than 13 yards, something he will need to do in order to win significant games this year.

The Iron Bowl will be a toss-up unless there are significant backfield injuries on one of the teams.

"1. We’re not sold on Brandon Cox at quarterback. At. All. Their offensive production has gone down each of the last three years."

I'm not completely sold on him either, but he was hurt for most of last year, and 1/2 of the playbook was thrown out to his limited abilities as a result of the injuries (explaining the drop in offensive production last year). Cox also has a 7-1 SEC road record (granted he's never been to the Swamp), the only loss being to LSU in OT in Baton Rouge in '05, and that certainly wasn't his fault (5 missed FG's, and a flurry of dropped passes).

Could Phil Steele having Auburn at #41 have an influence here, too?

RE 29: Not many people outside of the Big East bought ESPN's hype on Rutgers last season.

Their 2003-2006 classes were ranked 45-52-68-45 by Rivals. Individual players may play far from their projections, but four classes of 2-3's consistently lose to four classes of 3-4*'s.

They were a very opportunistic team in a subpar conference. In last season's SEC, they fall somewhere between Vanderbilt and Alabama.

If not for North Carolina shooting themselves in the foot with turnovers in a five point loss, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. The Tarheels lost their other eight by an average of 20 points in a mediocre at best ACC. They were a very bad team, but outgained Rutgers before finding a way to lose, as bad teams are wont to do.

Ltrain -

Look, Auburn may very well go 8-4 this year, but to say "there just isn’t the same talent" is just flat out wrong. If anything, this team has more "talent" -- even though that doesn't always translate to a better performance.

NOBODY was talking up Campbell in the '04 preseason. There would have been a very short list of "bona fide studs" before '04, too. Some folks would have liked to exclude Carnell or R. Brown because of past injury problems, I'm sure.

CFB Authority -- RB is a reloading position at Auburn. No shortage of star power or future star power there. If Auburn doesn't have a Top 10 season, it won't be because of RB, that's for sure.

lanceharbor -- don't forget Vandy, either. @ Vandy early in the season could be a problem. (bama only won by 3 last year, at home.)

The difference between Auburn 2004 is that then, there was talent on campus that had previously underachieved. Now, there just isn't the same talent. Sure, some guys will break out and surprise, but as of right now Quenton Groves is the only bona-fide stud; Cox scares nobody. Tuberville will finagle a few wins he shouldn't, and added to the fact that every other team in the SEC has major question marks other than LSU, Auburn could pull off a decent season. 2004 J.Campbell was able to excel because he had no pressure and 2 NFL quality RB's in the backfield. Cox doesn't have the knees, talent, backfield, line, or receivers that Cambell had.
