VACAY: WE’LL BE WATCHING YOU
We’re taking today and tomorrow off to head up to New York City. The Police are playing there, and our Samoan lawyer has procured us some quality tickets. If we’re going to hear a bad Police cover band, well, dammit, it might as well be an expensive Police cover band with the original members of the band.
We’ll see you on Monday with the return of PowerPoint previews and the remainder of our long-delayed top 25. Oh, and Galactus and John Kracynski will be making cameos, as well. (Looks into camera, smirks, shrugs.) We’ll also have a peek at Nick Saban’s defensive playbook, all 336 goddamned pages of it. Control freak doesn’t even begin to describe its contents.
Enjoy your weekend,
-O

Sorry DC, but I have to chime in too.
I saw them at the Pond of Anaheim and the show was easily in my all-time top 10. I didn’t hurt that I was drinking cocktails with a model in a luxury suite, but the band was in excellent form. For one thing they were not afraid to screw around with the tempos and arrangements. If I want to hear the songs sound just like the CD’s I’ll stay home and play the CD’s.

I decided that I’ve seen too many disappointing reunion concerts, so I wouldn’t bother getting a ticket to Virgin Fest in MD to see the Police. So, all of you who were thinking about sharing about how you 1) saw them and 2) think that they were great, please cease and desist. You’re not helping.

No countdown, probably no cheesecake, our bridges are falling down.
This isn’t the way it’s supposed to be.

Got this from Burnt Orange Nation. TExas is making a strong late charge in the Fulmer Cup:
Statesman.com is reporting that an arrest warrant has been issued for freshman defensive tackle Andre Jones. Apparently he was part of the robbery with former Longhorn Robert Joseph.
Update [2007-8-2 16:8:40 by HornsFan]: From the Statesman entry:
The arrest warrant accuses Jones of being with a man known as “N.O.” or New Orleans. The warrant said the two broke into an apartment in East Austin, with N.O. pointing a gun at one of the occupants as well as a 14-year-old. N.O. asked for several items, including cell phones and gaming equipment.
