WANTED: INSTANT SENIOR CORRESPONDENT
We’re looking for two–that’s right, TWO–instant senior correspondents to help us “cover” two events. We say “cover” because in no way should you maintain any semblance of journalistic integrity in writing about these events.
Our needs for instant senior correspondents are:
–One: we’re looking for short, punchy, and potentially punch-drunk prose from one person who will become an instant senior correspondent by being home at 3:30 to watch the new ESPN College Football show.
You, too, can be an instant senior correspondent.
And two:
–We need pictures or anecdotes from someone who is going to be at SEC Media Days this Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. We can’t get off work, but if you are willing to go, we’ll be happy to send you an EDSBS t-shirt and a box full of our eternal respect. Normally, AL.com has the obsessive tabloid coverage of the event down pat–but someone’s got to photograph Les Miles walking out of the bathroom with toilet paper stuck to his shoe, right?

Normally, a person doesn’t wipe their feet with toilet paper. Therefore sitting down to piss would therefore increase your chances of toilet paper on your shoe, being as sitting down in bathrooms must be in the stalls, which is also where the toilet paper is actually located. I’ve yet to see a men’s room with toilet paper at the urinals.

Friday Night Lights was interesting, but its really hard to get alot out of it, other than very general things, without being a recruiting fanatic. It seemed like the jersey numbers were for the recruits were randomly assigned (confirmed by a Cicerone there). So unless you knew player’s faces, not a whole lot about individuals was readily apparent.
From my vantage point in the Southwest corner of the Stadium, this is what I’ve got:
Not a whole lot of cornerbacks and safeties were there. One of the cornerback recruits appeared to be a 13 year old kid who must have been, at most, 5′ 3″.
However, there were a metric fuck-ton of wide receivers. And those guys were good. Fast, tall, and able to run the route drills damn well.
There appeared to be about 10 quarterback recruits there. I hope those were upcoming juniors, as we shouldn’t need to recruit an upcoming senior quarterback.
The running backs were on the opposite side of the stadium, so I got to see next to nothing of them.
Urb halfway through gave a little peptalk, followed by the highlight video from the past year. Made me realize how much I’m going to miss Reggie Nelson once again.
I left after that, cause the siren song of the Salty Dog was calling. Mmmm…Pitchers of Sierra Nevada…

Sadly, I won’t be home at 2:30 or 6:30 (C), and I don’t have a DVR hooked up in the new apartment yet, so whoever reports on the show needs to be very thorough. oops pow surprise- God, I hate that show. It gives a total idiot (Reali) too much power over slightly dumber people. It could be worse, Reali, Paige, Mariotti and Cowlishaw could be hosting College Gameday.
And College Gameday Live wasn’t that bad. Les Miles was on, and I was really hoping for Rece Davis to say, “Now, Coach Miles, aside from your Alabama rivalry, I’ve heard things about your heated words against your next door neighbor, Hayley LaFontaine. Care to comment?”

Yep, whoever was the producer of the new ESPN college football show made excellent decisions about using the Rutgers huddle and the Grambling band in the ESPN studios. Damn, I’m psyched for the season. I guess it just goes to prove that college football is too good for even ESPN to screw it up.
