Very little Texas talk. I guess everyone likes the pick..?

I'm hoping that Colt's merely "excellent" season will be offset by Charles' rebound season.

Hopefully the dubious OL will allow this to happen...

FYI, Tommy's buyout has basically been reduced in half since last season, as his contract stipulates.

8 wins, including USC, and a bowl victory, and Tommy will probably stay IF TDP, who by many accounts is off to Arkansas, were staying.

If the new AD comes from in-house, 8 USC included wins will probably keep Tommy for one more year.

8 wins, without USC, or less, regardless of USC, and Tommy is gone.

9 wins, with a USC loss, is iffy, at best.

Who said I attended law school? Just because I used a "straw man" reference proves nothing.

Yeah, yeah, I know.

Duke - and, yes, Chemerinsky is full of himself.

So, the token Heels fan shows up at the prodding from his fellow goat lovers on their rivals board. Hi there, little fella. Now run along. This here is football talk, and Butch Davis or not, you just don't belong. See you in a few weeks though.

What's the buyout on Tommy at the end of the season? The buyout saved his butt last season, but the IPTAY disgust to buyout$ ratio may be high enough this year to force the issue that so many orange overall clad folks wanted last year.

Coop - where did you go to law school?

Clemson 2007: Bowden's Swan Song

Probable Losses:

Va Tech
at USC

Toss-ups, at best:

FSU
at NCSU
at GT
at Maryland
BC
Wake Forest

Probable wins:

La-Monroe
Furman
CMU
at Duke

That seems to set up nicely for a record somewhere between 6-6 and 8-4, including a second consecutive loss to the Cocks. Treading water in year 9 isn't going to impress anyone.

I hope CTB has Dan Joyner's number in his Rolodex.

Mike--Two in a row to Carolina by itself won't be enough. If Tommy drops a couple to the Maryland or Wakes of the ACC (don't care about their recent success. We should never lose to Wake), then he may be in trouble. Every year Tommy loses one or two he has no business losing, combine that with two in a row to Carolina that may be a fatal combination.

#87 had this South Carolina fan laughing aloud.

You can tell when it shifts from regular Carolina visitors to those attracted by the rivalry. The early posts reveal our almost Sally Fields-like response to any prediction like Orson's- "You like us, you really like us!"

Then in the last 20 posts or so, it turns into 'I bet everyone else in the country wants to read an ongoing exchange with someone that will never agree with me no matter what I say.'

Spurrier pwns Tommy!!! Clemson is teh suxorz!

Sorry. It's my nature, Mister Frog.

cutiger89, as much as it pains me, your words carry some wisdom. I hope something like that doesn't happen, but it wouldn't suprise me if it did. On the other hand, is there any doubt TB will be fired if he does lose 2 in a row to the cocks?

#85: Please correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe Nixon occupied the White House the last time the Gamecocks won two in a row against Clemson. The real struggle for the OBC is not the schedule, but beating back 100 years of losing karma. Really, the only tradition at Carolina is finding a way to lose.

Here's how it will play out: Tommy will roll into Columbia on a 2-3 game losing streak with his job on the line and the Tigers will grind out the victory when Blake Mitchell fumbles the snap with 5 seconds left and we run it back for a game-winning TD. Thus ensuring Clemson another year of mediocrity and ruining Carolina's season. Gamecock fans, you know this will happen. Accept it.

Does winning a national title make a mediocre coach great? Didn't Mack Brown bench his QB who hadn't lost to OU for a guy who never beat OU? Have his team collapse against Colorado in the B12 championship game? It took Fulmer 7 years to bottom out after his title. People judging Miles are judging him against what other coaches? VS OU, Miles 2-2 at OSU, Brown 4-5 at UT...

Your SC pick at #6 would mean the game in Columbia will decide the SECEast. With how Spurrier's last 2 against the Gators have gone, that should be a great one.

We're going to be good. We're going to be ranked. Higher than most people would think. We're going to compete for the SEC East. But #6? I hope you're right. But that ain't where I'm putting South Carolina.

And all this buzz is bringing visions of 2002 dancing in my head, when some delusional person at CFB News picked us No. 1 and we promptly underperformed against La-La and lost to Virginia. Damned expectations.
