FULMER CUP SCOREBOARD PENDING LARGE GATOR CHARGES

We'll post the Fulmer Cup scoreboard in a bit, but we're trying to track down exactly what the charges are going to be involving two Florida Gators, Brandons Powell and James. There's an increasingly well-documented series of accusations about the two of them being arrested on Sam Donaldson-serious drug charges last niight. We'll dig and figure this out.

In the meantime, um...smile?

if my memory serves me correctly, isn’t brandon powell a scholarship basketball player? if so, doesn’t that mean his charges wouldn’t count toward the Cup? or should we take the points because of the men’s scholarship sport felony cross-pollination/stupidity?

They were busted for buying less than 20 grams of pot. Whoop-de-doo.

OT: Orson, how about putting a link on the front page to your Das Fanhaus blog?

Less than 20 grams of marijuana? That ain’t shit…

And where are the damn guns? The Sovereign Republic of Dee is going to be disappointed.

Brandon James smokes out? Imagine how difficult he would be to tackle if didnt get lifted.

Supposedly buying pot is a 3rd degree felony in the great state of Florida. What horseshit!

by Ahab on Jun 12, 2007 11:45 AM EDT reply actions

Less than 20 grams is a misdemeanor. It carries a maximum of 1 year in jail and a $5000 fine.

by GainesvilleRamblings on Jun 12, 2007 11:51 AM EDT reply actions

but, but, but…. pot is bad!

by Cubson on Jun 12, 2007 11:56 AM EDT reply actions

possession of less than 20 grams is a misdemeanor. buying or selling is a felony, no matter the amount.

Who’s the chick? I support any artist who’s idea of something to make her smile it to watch a guy get jacked up.

Last time I checked, even in Florida, Marijuana is still illegal. The pattern continues.I quit counting arrests and other sordid shit some time ago.

Barry Switzer is smiling? or is he sad?

K00laid, that’s Lily Allen. Personally, the only way I can watch that video is with the volume on it turned down while I have something else(AC/DC, RATM, G’n’R, other assorted acronym bands) cranked up.

I’m on to your little tricks here at the EDSBS. A while back I posted how ironic it was that a Purdue Fulmer Cup entry got a full page addand a Gator Fulmer Cup entry went under the radar in the “Notes” section of an update…This time around you guys post a full page ad for impending Gator Fulmer Cup points (implying huge points are coming), only to have it wash out as nothing more than less than a cunt hair of pot. This one really pisses me off because you really got me on this one…I was all excited at the thought of more Fulmer Cup points, only to be pissing in the wind. Thanks bastards.

P.S. I still love you guys; more pissed at myself for allow you get one over on me.

by tOSUBuckeyes on Jun 12, 2007 1:26 PM EDT reply actions

so based on my theory here about how you guys post Florida point updates, you guys have managed to slide 13+ points in under the radar and when on the radar the impact of the individual postings is minimized by the tactics used to post them. Overstate minor cases and understate everything else….very crafty….

I read your book you magnificent bastards, unfortunately so did Urban Meyer before the national championship game…I told tressel to encrypt that thing…damn it.

tOSU is friends with subcommandante Wayne. Perhaps he is Wayne, in that there is a little bit of Wayne in every Ohio State fan.

Lily, and her cute, hip elimination of the final consonant sound at the end of a word and sliding past multiple vowel sounds in the middle of a word (reminiscent of the “Oh no you di’int” slang term) are altering our children’s english usage and endangering the very fabric of our linguistic culture…not that I am becoming french or anything, but gah!

And I’m really pissed about our increase in the Fulmer Cup Standings, too.

by sb on Jun 12, 2007 1:52 PM EDT reply actions

SB, that’s hardly a Lily Allen innovation… and if you think you’re upset, you should hear people with old school received pronunciation accents railing about “estuary English” and – horrors – regional accents being allowed on the BBC. The proles are being allowed to speak even when they aren’t Labour Party MPs – it’s political correctness gone mad!

Story I read was that he was busted in a “sting” paying $20 for 0.8 gram of weed. That is POINT eight. Seems hard to believe they had a sting for that, or burned an informant…

Either way, I think I could find that much weed in my couch in my old apartment…

by Pants McPants on Jun 12, 2007 2:23 PM EDT reply actions

DC, I think Lily just hit it where I receive it…my daughter and her friends are Lily fans and imitate the accent and usage…at least its not the “tisnf” and the text message acronyms…not yet.

tOSU…your catchin’ on to the wiles of Gatordom, but without the several years (in my case seven) of debauchery and training one receives in that crucible of champions, there is no way to equal the efforts produced by the denizens of old Florida… god that sounds pretentious…

by sb on Jun 12, 2007 2:24 PM EDT reply actions

sb, I feel your pain. My not-quite-5-year-old has started making heavy use of the word “like” in place of a good old-fashioned pause for thought. It sets my teeth on edge every time. I can only imagine the horror if she started with some Mockney accent .

by DC Trojan on Jun 12, 2007 11:42 PM EDT reply actions

Eight grams for $20? They should check and make sure there was even any pot in there amist all the oregano and pencil shavings. Vile weed!
