As an Alabama fan who lived through Dubose banging the secretary, Mike Price banging a stripper, and our innumerable other embarrassing news stories the last 10 years, I just want to say -

THANK YOU ARKANSAS!!!

This train wreck is going to erase our decade of foibles from everyone's minds AND provide endless opportunities to laugh at someone else. THANKS

#47- I guess you are not a Cal fan, JD. They have been better that UCLA the last few years though

#42- Maybe part of the rivalry issue for Arkansas is that they were down on Texas list far enough that no rivalry was maintained after the demise of the SWC. If Arkansas do measure themselves against Texas it isn't going to go the other way since the Longhorns are more concerned with OK and A&M. That would compare with UCLA going overboard on hating USC, while USC cares more about Notre Dame.

#33 & #34. I could see USC taking Mustain, but if he does come out here he will be just a guy. There will be depth and quality at the QB position and nobody is going to pander to him the way they did out there when he came out of HS. His mom isn't going to intimidate Pete Carroll.

When you lie down with pigs....

Never has karma worked so poetically.
Mustain tried to get a starting position the easy way and Nutt bought himself a recruit. They deserve each other for three more years.

Best line from the linked article.

"he polarization pits Nutt "huggers" against the "dark-siders," as a moderator of the popular Hogville.net message board put it last week."

Nutt Huggers. As Bob and Doug McKenzie would say, "Beauty."

#15, bravo. Best post of the bunch.

Someone in Memphis drive across the state line on I-40 and see if the "Welcome to Arkansas" sign has the new state motto on it: "Go sell crazy somewhere else, we're all full-up here."

#40 - "Plus in AK’s case they are clearly in the shadow of the power teams of the SEC and former SWC rival Texas similar to the way that UCLA is in the shadow of USC and Cal."

The only kind of shadow that Cal throws is the Hitchcockian double-chin found on its non-heroin-addicted cheerleaders.

Yes, HDN still has a job. I'm sure his clear, long term job security will be solace to any other coach having second thoughts about bringing in someone with a track record of investigating his previous coach.

Tuberville's line about "leaving in a pine box" is something HDN shouldn't try, because somebody over there might take him up on it.

Will, what I want to know is why were many Hawg fans desperate for Nutt to open up the offense?

With Humanity Advanced and Felix Jones in the backfield, why even pass the ball at all? That Wildcat formation gave me plenty of sleepleess nights, as I'm sure it did for defensive coordinators.

OC Phil is closer to the truth than most Arkansas fans would like to admit.

There is a particular mindset among a segment of Arkansas fans, that it is still 1964, we're still to measure ourselves by Texas, and we should be playing for National titles, or at least in National Title significant games every year; that we are 40 years removed from that era really doesn't sink in to them, especially with a resurgent Texas program. It doesn't help that Nutt has twice crushed Texas in a fashion that encouraged the mindset that Arkansas is Texas' equal.

When Arkansas joined the SEC, the program was a winner, albeit in a conference that had more in common with the quality of the WAC, than the SEC. The Hogs took a quantum leap up in weight class, and it's taken 15 years of facilities work and capital investment to put the Razorbacks back on equal footing to their new conference mates, and is beginning to flex its athletic muscles appropriately.

Unfortunately, Nutt had things going at Arkansas a bit ahead of schedule; the Stoerner fumble aside, there is little doubt that Arkansas overachieved early under Nutt, and that merely whetted the appetites of the Razorback fan base for bigger and better things.

10-3 and the Cap One Bowl would have been mana from heaven in 1998. In 2006, it just wasn't enough, for many.

As an alum, I would like to put it this way.

What if (NAME REDACTED) accidentally won a bunch of games and bought himself a couple years. Everyone knows that he is going to win 8 games for the rest of that time and will embarrass himself and his fanbase the entire time.

NAME REDACTED - coaching ability = bag of rabid weasels
