FULMER CUP UPDATE! OHIO UNIVERSITY IS ON THE BOARD
Remember that no matter how far you may think a team is off the map of college football, someone, somewhere, loses productive work time thinking about how much they hate them.
These little microrages surround you: somewhere, there’s someone who hates San Jose State with a blazing passion. In a tiny house in rural Ohio, there sits a soul whose heart festers with malice, all of it directed towards Bowling Green. We bet there’s someone out there who just fucking detests Florida A&M, and not just because they suffer from serious band envy. There’s even someone who hates Ohio University, seemingly innocuous Ohio University, the one nestled in the deceptively serene town of Athens, Ohio.
His name is DevilGrad, and he runs MiamiHawkTalk, the mightiest D-1 smallball board of them all. Today he should be dancing a meringue in his loafers, since his bete noire makes their 2007 Fulmer Cup debut after a stellar 2006 season. The offender: Kris Luchsinger, freshman defensive end, charged with resisting arrest and (primo charge here, emphasis is ours) persistent disorderly conduct.
Both are misdemeanors, bringing with them an award of one point each. For the entire incident, we award Ohio University 2 points for their early and auspicious entry into the race. Be warned, though: living up to last year’s Bobcats crew presents a truly daunting task for this year’s squad. Start punching those horses early and often, boys.

Ohio enters the race for the Fulmer Cup, prompting bystanders to say “Never mind that shit, here comes Mongo!”

Two things stand out in that article- First, the alleged fight occured in “uptown” Athens. Is Athens, Ohio big enough to have and uptown and a downtown? Second, this cat is from Franklin County. Isn’t that where our bestest buddy Wayne is from? That has to be taken into consideration for a potential bonus point.

I wish my Chippewas had waited until the Fulmer Cup was around to commit homicide. Instead, I watch other MAC teams pass us by.
Alas, we were just before our time in Mt Pleasant.

LOL! I guess I’ve earned that one. Two clarifications:
(1) His royal bastardship, RedSteve, runs MiamiHawkTalk. I just help moderate the board and do a half-assed Howard Cosell impersonation.
(2) For more on why I hate Ohio University, see the link below.

Persistence pays off.
Long ago and far afield, but a Cincinnati basketball player gave a police horse what it was asking for with a shot to the snout sometime about 5 or 6 years ago. That was followed by a TORTURE charge (generally reserved for dictators and serial killers) being levied against another U.C. cager when his roommate needed some prompting with a coat hanger he heated with an iron.
That’s just the way we roll in the ‘Nati.

There’s no downtown in Athens. What most people would call “downtown” is both immediately north of campus and up a hill. Thus all our campus bars, business, etc are “uptown.”
There’s nothing south of campus because the Hocking River is there.

That’s not entirely true. Isn’t the successor institution to the old Athens insane asylum on the hill south of the Hocking from the Convo? And there’s the beginning of the Athens County meth lab belt.

Hey guys. Just wanted to point out that profootballtalk.com in their rumor mill section is going to start a point total for pro teams whose players are arrested for various crimes. They will keep track of that throughout the year and show which team has the most criminal charges put up against it. What genius, who would have ever thought to keep track of crimes committed by football players.
I already emailed them about assigning you guys credit for the idea, but we’ll see if they do it.

Hey what’s up with USC sites reporting Urban Meyer is pulling offers from verbals that committed earlier so that he has space for late (higher ranked) commits?
I searched but haven’t seen any comments about this yet. Also it could be USC sites are full of shit (as to be expected).
Does EDSBS officially “no comment” or will there be some sort of elaborate “damn straight, Urban’s word is weak, but we’re going to bounce those 2nd tier jackasses”?

Come on USC condoms, in the SEC it is called atttrition, and is a perfectly acceptable way of conducting business. Besides it will mean less work for Meyer next year when he would have had to encourage them to transfer anyway to up the scholly count. Only 5* now accepted at UF. By the way, where is mention of UF’s Fulmer Cup points courtesy of one Jon Demps. Don’t shaft your own school!

About the Luchsinger story…..As all college football players know…Everyone wants a shot at the title. Football players are targets for would be drunks who want to relive the life they never had in the first place. Luchsinger was hit in the head with a beer bottle by a 35 yr old townee in Athens……What the police saw was a retaliation by Luchsinger…The witnesses say that Luchsinger was dazed after he was hit with the bottle and didn’t know the police were even on the scen. He was walking through the alley when he saw a friend surrounded getting ready to get his ass beat.. I know Kris..He is a good egg! Wrong Place Wrong Time!
I hope the courts will not let OU’s history affect Kris’s case.. As for DEVIL GRAD get a life….who hates football?

Maybe you could start the Shane Montgomery “Completely made a mess out of a formerly proud program in record time” Cup.
Or the “Assistant Coach Combination Wall and Fan Punch” in the 2008 Coach Olympics. I’ve got my money on Solich in the Push Up event.
Put simply, shut the fuck up. No one here cares about your stupid vendetta against Ohio University. Hell, no one here cares about Ohio University. I say this, and I grew up on the other side of Sharpsburg Hill (NOT in the People’s Republic of Athens County) from it.
However, from the 1950s time warp of Oxford…
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/02/25/MNGGKOAOM11.DTL
Seems the DePauw ladies weren’t white and slutty enough for the Oxford-based sleezy DeeZees (maybe *that’s* why the got rid of the Redskins name there?). So they got offed by their nationals who are now doing major damage control since the story ended up in the Chron and the NYTimes.
So have your fun about kids getting into very minor trouble at a school with a president that takes such things seriously (we’ve all seen the photos of former Miami Rhodes scholar/football player Ben Roethlisberger). In Athens, the police racially profile the players; in Oxford, apparently the sororities profile … um, themselves?
Scram…isn’t there a sale at J. Crew?
