CHAMPIONS.
Overwhelmed with emotion–simply overwhelmed. 41 out of 50 AP sportswriters can go choke themselves with a Twizzler right now. After five minutes, this game was out of reach. It’s not that Florida was merely good–they were flawless and magnificent like anyone who’s ever appeared on The Actor’s Studio with James Lipton. Chris Leak played a magnificent game-no Evil Chris, lurking in the shadows in the third quarter. No blocked punt, a la Auburn. No improbable decisions.
(Chris…we’re so sorry. We’re so, so sorry.)
And it’s not that Ohio State was bad–they were pathetic. Odious. Null. Reeking. Inert. They had no answer, no adjustments, no nothing. Alex Boone and Kirk Barton spent all night reaching backwards into the void where Derrick Harvey and Jarvis Moss should have been, and instead turning over to look at Troy Smith, eyes wide as dinner plates, turning away from one 270 lb. man attempting to kill him to find another 270 lb. beast running at him with 4.7 speed. His line becomes a paragraph unto itself:
Troy Smith: 4-14, 35 yards. 0 TDs, 1 INT. Sacks: 5
Heisman! UF outplayed them in every single facet of the game. No Ted Ginn excuses, no blown calls, nothing. Florida kicked ass until their toes fell off. It was like watching a small animal get crushed between two glaciers. It was like watching Roy Jones in his prime boxing an Olsen twin. It was like watching Clarence Darrow squaring off against Starr Jones in the courtroom. It was defeat, served rare, with a side of raw loss.
And for us: scoreboard, bitches. Scoreboard. We. Win.

Good job Gators! That was a thing of beauty. I actually feel good about our loss (21-14) to you now. Not all those others though! See you in Jacksonville.

Eventually I’ll resume my usual ‘I hate Florida’ role that Georgia fans have to embody … but right now, after watching the SEC prove its worth and then some, I can hold off on that for a bit.
Nice job.
Also, kudos to the Florida defensive lineman (McDonald maybe?) who said after the game …
‘I mean, Ohio State is a good team … but we played four teams in the SEC that were better than them.’

From a Buckeye: GOOD JOB, GATORS!!
Make sure you buy your D-Line a case of Astroglide — I wouldn’t want those boys getting friction burns on their junk. They’ve got a lot of, um, “accolades” to receive.
You guys just absolutely murdered our O-Line, which royally screwed our offense as a whole, and that was that. You played a brilliant game. Congratulations, again! I’ll be rooting for Florida next year, along with the Bucks. Meyer’s putting together something special for you guys–enjoy it, and appreciate him–it’s not every day you find a coach like him.
Fantastic job, Chris Leak! Fantastic job, Gator D-Line!

Congrats to all you Florida fans, that was a very impressive win. As A Michigan alum, I was one of those who cursed Florida after we got jumped, but that hatred didn’t last long. OSU played like Michigan and look what happened! Actually, I was looking for Charlie Weis’s spare tire on the sidelines, but he was back in South Bend gorging on fried dough. Way to go Gators!

Wow, that was fucking crazy. I was happy for Chris Leak and all his peers who suffered under [NAME REDACTED]. My girlfriend, who has zero interest in football, watched 5 painful minutes of Troy Smith and his O line being destroyed and said the Buckeyes looked like they were moving in slow motion.
In the bizarro world of the NFL Draft where one nationally televised game is usually more important than a resume compiled over 2 or 3 years Leak probably just played himself into a bright future as a back-up NFL QB. Troy Smith on the other hand…well, I hope somebody looks past this game (and the fact that was getting manhandled on nearly every single play) and still gives him a shot. I even started feeling a little bit bad for him after that last Tebow TD run. Thanks to the WWL for coining an idiotic phrase instantly (the “Fall of Troy”? awesome. someone’s pinkie should be chopped off for that one). I also supremely enjoyed one of the college football “experts” asking Chris Leak post game what he wanted to say to the “so-called experts” like him without a trace of irony.
Anyways, many many congratulations, this a great blog and thanks for a great season, enjoy your offseason Florida, great win (may have erased 62-24. almost.), etc.. tOSU, I’ll see you guys next year when you beat the crap out [NAME REDACTED] again.

Congratulations from an ND fan living in Big Ten country. I can almost forgive Urban for dissin’ ND!
The a$$ beating you put on tOSU was a thing of pure beauty. Wonder if the fires are out in Ohio yet?

Orson,
When are you printing up some “SEC (or Southeast Conference as Barry Alvarez likes to say) SPEED” t-shirts?

just FYI No. 49: Arkansas lost to Florida, LSU, USC and Wisconsin. That’s four top 10 teams. Unshabby on the Pigs’ part.
Also Congratulations to the Gators. What an excellent way to silence every critic. That was such a romping. I couldn’t be more jealous; our uncreative asses never made Troy Smith poo his pants like that.
Revel, Gators, revel.
In conclusion: Clarence Darrow is a Michigan alum; Ohio State is the home of the Star Jones Center for Rhetoric and Writing.
Also, space, bitches, space. And huzzah to our reptilian, death-rolling overlords.

Congratulations guys. To admit, i had my doubts, but i guess you really can’t argue with success like that. How long do you think Meyer will be around until he gets snatched up by the nfl?

By the way, I agree. A new EDSBS top-site header is in order.
Leak and Meyer, at the least. Tebow should probably be in there too.
A new order. The Ol’ Ball Coach? Forget it. Meyer is THE Ball Coach. End of story.
I am so freaking happy right now. I almost don’t know what to do with myself, cynical, nasty curmudgeon that I am.

Orson — we win! WE FREAKING WIN!
So beautiful. Even I didn’t predict a beatdown — I called for a 8-point win at the AOL Fanhouse.
I was wrong. Should have predicted the blowout.
We win, Orson. WE WIN.

Will Meyer, Leak and Tebow replace The Ol’ Ball Coach and Wuerfell on the EDSBS Web Site Banner?
I recommend an amalgm of both.

RB — I know you weren’t — you wrote : “By record, OSU is obviously 2nd. By logic, Try 5th.” But how can Ohio State “obviously” be second “by record” when there is a team — Boise State — that has a better record than Ohio State and that won a BCS bowl?
So you were not tallking (or writing) about Boise State, but I just do not see a rationalization, sans playoff, for Boise State to be anything lower than 2nd.

Is ND the only team to have three losses - all to Top 10 teams? How in hell is PSU ranked behind UT in coaches poll with the same number of losses?

How, by record, is OSU “obviously” second? Even “by record,” Boise State deserves a higher ranking than Ohio State.
