MICHIGAN FANS: BITTER? NAH.
Michigan fans are not bitter. No. Not. At. All. (HT: Dan.)
Isn't hijacking someone's wikipedia slot a bit of a Comic Book Guy revenge? I shall alter your wikipedia entry! Taste the flames of my mockery of your online reference entry? Or to quote philosophy from a true mistress:
You know I'm not gonna diss you on the Internet
Cause my momma told me better than that.
We're not better than that, of course. But, um...Destiny's Child is. And that's a sign that you're not living up to your full potential, Michigan fans. You've got a legacy to live up to along with the moral imperative set forth by Destiny's Child!!! Space, bitches. Space. Until we see "FLORIDA SUCKS" lit in blue flame across the heavens by multi-degreed UM grads, we can't be impressed.
Until then, Beyonce and company are looking at you with disdain.

They ain't gonna dis you on the internet. Even on Wikipedia.

Apparently the whole squad wants to relocate to Florida. Perhaps they would run the spread for Meyer.

The wikipeople fixed it. Look through the history of that page to see some more wiki-vandalism. At least the Michigan nerds were more creative than this guy:

UM might have sent guys to the moon, but we’re sending a small child to Mars. M-A-R-S, Mars bitches.

Speaking as a Michigan fan and alum, I’d just like to say that I bear the Gators no ill will as a result of all this, and fail to see how this whole mess is Florida’s fault. I lost a measure of respect for my fellow Ohioan Urban Meyer, but I don’t blame Gators fans for that at all.
The BCS is a flawed system, and a rematch would have been nice for the players and some fans, but either result would have been ugly and frustrating to nearly everyone. I think Michigan got hosed because the BCS is so fundamentally silly that voters abandoned it at the first sign of awkwardness, but I understand why they abandoned it. Florida was a handy solution to the BCS’ self-inflicted problem, and the Gators are a worthy opponent, even if the process used to select them is not. This whole thing is a sign that the BCS is broken, possibly beyond repair.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go teach the USC song girls the words to “The Victors.”

If the wikipeople fixed it, it’s been messed with again.
How childish.

Meeeshiganders do not have a leg to stand on….they are bitter because it is cold, they can’t make decent cars, and are more likely to be unemployed than their smarter, more attractive, national championship attending counterparts to the south. Wolverwhiners…take solace in the fact that you still have Ice fishing, Curling, and an intense hockey rivalry with Lake Superior State.

Messing with wiki entries is supposed to be reserved for pissing off Jay Mariotti. Oh well, at least it wasn’t done by Subcommandante Wayne and his loyal following of OSU Browneyes.

Am I a freak for not getting the Michigan h8? They’re a fantastic school (I’ve never met someone who went there who I didn’t admire intellectually, and I’m a snob like that) with a great tradition who got screwed by a system we all know is screwed up.
Being a third-generation Florida native, I can’t help but find comment #7 hysterically funny. I heart the Sunshine State but come on, the crazed suckiness of the place is like 90% of the fun.

Because we love Palmetto bugs and 137% humidity. Having said that, general warmth and no income taxes are pleasant features.

“Wolverwhiners” is pretty lame. You can do better.

You know, Destiny’s Child illegally sampled the Michigan Marching Band drumline for the background beat of “Lose My Breath.”
Ironically, the ladies you’re touting as the bastions of proper conflict resolution have, themselves, plagiarized from the fanbase you’re goading.

Constantly bitching about being denied a “rematch” is exceedingly lame, although I doubt you can do better.
by Joe Gator on Dec 12, 2006 12:15 PM EST reply actions
Jeez, Joe… you’re the one sounding bitter. Are you one of those crusty old Florida geezers with shorts and dark socks who complains about “all the damn kids and their loud music and their ebay”?
by Dave on Dec 12, 2006 12:19 PM EST reply actions
“Exceedingly lame” is an unnecessary use of an adverb. Lame communicates your point just fine, and I’m not sure how to evaluate lame v. exceedingly lame.
Also, I don’t know why UF fans have started ripping on UM here. As I can see, #4 was a UM alum stating he had a beef with the system but UF was cool. That’s a reasonable statement. UF’s playing for a national championship, so no need for us to hate.

Dave, can I fit that description at the age of 24?
And yes, after last Tuesday, I finished with the UM/UF arguments, firstly because it was asinine, and secondly because it was asinine. But thirdly, because there are bigger things to think about, such as how the hell am I going to get a ticket to the game.

Joe Gator,
#7… Unemployment is a real problem there. I’m not worried about the older union guys who’ve made six-figure wages for years now, but the younger generation of blue-collar workers is getting completely screwed because of piss-poor management at the Big 3, and also because of past union greed. Blame the Ford execs for the shitty cars, not the assemblers.
#11… Because they’re old and senile.
#19… You’d be whining too if Florida got denied. Remember all the bitching Urban Meyer did in the weeks prior? Michigan fans have a damn good reason to be whining and complaining (even if it annoys the rest of us), and it’s called the BCS.
by J.J. on Dec 12, 2006 12:26 PM EST reply actions
Gator03…thanks for the grammar lesson.
Dave…not bitter, I’ll be in Glendale watching my school when its second national title in 8 months. The mere thought of it makes me giddy…exceedingly giddy.
by Joe Gator on Dec 12, 2006 12:27 PM EST reply actions
Yeah, and we’d totally come up with a cool name for Florida fans in that situation, too. Something really clever like “Gay-whiners.”
by Dave on Dec 12, 2006 12:28 PM EST reply actions
J.J.,
The powers-that-be at UF have consistently called for a playoff for 20 years. Can the same be said for UM?
Additionally, it is not whining if you have a legitimate gripe. Michigan does not.
by Joe Gator on Dec 12, 2006 12:31 PM EST reply actions
“it is not whining if you have a legitimate gripe. Michigan does not.”
Authoritative and decisive. Who could argue with such logic?
by maskedavenger on Dec 12, 2006 12:37 PM EST reply actions
Michigan does have a gripe here. They just didn’t say anything, really, and counted on people to “do the right thing.”
Lloyd Carr is also waiting for the kid who’s knocked over his mailbox to own up and buy him a new one. He’ll do it once he realizes just what he’s done and how wrong it is. You just watch.
by Orson Swindle on Dec 12, 2006 12:37 PM EST reply actions
Masked, Michigan’s strongest argument is that they trounced an ND who has beaten no one, a Wisconsin who has beaten no one, and lost by 3 despite an overwhelming advantage in turnovers to an OSU team that has beaten no one.
by Joe Gator on Dec 12, 2006 12:42 PM EST reply actions
Until there is more OOC play between top 40 teams every team’s argument is circular. Who knows if Wisconsin is better than Arkansas? Who knows if beating Arkansas means anything? USC might have an opinion.
by canuck on Dec 12, 2006 12:48 PM EST reply actions
I don’t understand why people are ragging on UM so much. UF bitched for 3 weeks and it worked, so UM should get 3 weeks of bitching as a rebuttle. The best thing would be for them to tear up USC and tOSU drill UF, that way they can say, well, at least UM gave the Bucks a game.
The BCS is undoubtedly a flawed system, but so are most people’s rationalization for trying to keep them out of it. “UM didn’t even win its conference, it can’t be in the championship” doesn’t fly because most people who want a playoff think LSU is a top 5 team w/o winning their division. Also, by the same logic, you would take GT or Wake over UM? I doubt it.
And this coming from a buckeye alum.

Joe
I am familiar with the arguments on both sides and have gone on record on this site in saying that while I think UM would win a game between the two (big surprise huh?) a decent argument can be made for either team. Quite frankly, I have no intention of getting into a pissing match with someone who is not going to change their mind when even the best argument is not going to change the fact that UM is playing USC in the Rose Bowl.
by maskedavenger on Dec 12, 2006 12:59 PM EST reply actions
Masked…we can agree to disagree, you think Michigan has a decent argument, I do not. Canuck, I agree. Your statement buttresses my argument that Florida’s claim to a shot at tOSU unquestionably supersedes Michigan’s.
by Joe Gator on Dec 12, 2006 1:07 PM EST reply actions
Surely whinerines is better than wolverwhiners. Or has somebody else come up with that already? Although I’m pretty much with Michigan in this argument…or, more precisely, against the tyranny of the BCS. I still hope Florida punks Ohio State, though. I think.
by Boston Frog on Dec 12, 2006 2:09 PM EST reply actions
I think it’s hilarious how many folks had no objection to the rematch and agreed Michigan was definitely top 3, but USC is comparable to Michigan so………….[UCLA faces Booty instead of Quinn]………….. on second thought clearly #4 Florida is good enough.
The rematch was clearly the real issue, not which team was better in the computers. On record Michigan looks better, but that’s the whole point to avoiding the rematch. Now we find out.

When I lived over in Ft. Meyers for a couple of years I marvelled at the steady southward flow of Meechiganders and Seedpod thingys every year in the Fall and the northward exodus around April every year.
Most of them were pretty nice people too, but have you ever noticed that most of the people who drive Dodge Intrepids aren’t………..intrepid that is, unless you consider it bold to drive along I-75 at sixty miles an hour in the fast lane.
