GENE CHIZIK TO IOWA STATE

That narrows down the 'Bama list, at least: Texas defensive coordinator Gene Chizik goes to Iowa State, a score for them. Head-busting cover-2 scheme to follow, for sure, leaving Mack Brown with a critical hole to fill on his staff at Texas. (HT: Dave.)

The real question: will someone in the Big 12 not run the spread? Besides Colorado? And will cash be enough to make this angry man smile?

Smile, Gene: if they gave McCarney that long, you'll be just fine.

Stallings is in Tuscaloosa for the news conference…I doubt he would be there if a new coach wasn’t being introduced

That’s great news about Gene in T-town. I sure hope we find out soon.

I haven’t been this unproductive since the last time we lost/hired/fired/hired a coach.

Jesus, look at that face. Was Chisik a linebacker, by any chance?

Good luck to him!

the rumor was that a plane went to Austin to pick Stallings up, now the reason the planes there is for kines to interview for the texas dc job…it probably all bullshit

Well, they didn’t announce a coach and that’s all I was hoping for.

I do hope Kines gets a new job if he wants one.

Kines is overrated as a DC. I’m sure Mack Brown is aware of this.

Joe Kines is not overrated at all. Get your head out your ass

Thanks, Orson.

Looks like we now have an Orgeron-worthy scowl hanging out in Jack Trice.

That’s the kind of plum coaching job Chizik went to Texas to land. Bravo, jerk.

I’d like to extend a welcome to all the Florida and Texas players ISU’ll be trying to recruit over the next several years.

Who gives a shit who they Cyclowns have as a couch they are still a worthless program…GO HAWKS!

Holy crap, Bill, you’re right.

It’s like they were seperated at birth. I do wish Chizik a lot of luck—as long as he stays out of Ohio… I guess it would be alright if he takes Captain Sweatervest’s cast-offs. Better than them going to UM…

Benoit is The Man. I don’t care if it IS a made-up sport. He is an entertaining son of a bitch. Reminds me of the Dynamite Kid (which I know is intentional)…

Good luck to Mark D’Antonio, too! It looks like he’s replacing Johnell Smith (or should that be NAME REDACTED?) at MSU. Things could start to get really interesting in the Big 10 again!

Oklahoma doesn’t really run the spread anymore. I mean, it’s there sometimes, but mostly the offense consists of praying that the QB doesn’t screw up.

Looks like more victories to come over the Iowa Flopeyes not to mention tops in the Big 12 north. We’ll see what the future holds for Chizik. Go Cyclones. (Coach not couch)

… I’m no Alabama fan, but Joe Kines is still one of the most underrated coaches in all the country. Biggest mistake Arkansas ever made was not naming him the permanent HC, and bringing in Danny Ford.
