Championships are won by defenses.
Unless Michigan and OSU are playing in the game.

Do you think the Michigan faithful could handle losing to OSU twice in one year?

Blah Blah Blah

All this jibba jabba about no way a top SEC team gives up 39 points. Puh-lease.

Sorta like Georgia last year in the Sugar Bowl.

SEC will get smoked royally in each bowl game where it faces a Big Ten team. Take that to the bank.

About the OSU/MI game: Two bitter rivals battled it out for everything on the line. The offenses held nothing back. Both defenses had trouble stopping anything.

To argue that LSU and other SEC teams could hold the OSU/UM offenses down is valid because they have been solid on defense all year, but that doesn't mean they would beat either of those schools.

The irony of the whole thing is that the SEC is playing Big Ten style football this year - defense and smashmouth football which leads to low-scoring and anemic offenses (Florida running it up on Western Carolina doesn't count). Why complain about all the points? It was Super Bowl like entertainment. Look at the ratings. It was the most watched game in 13 years.

I am a Michigan fan and I would love another shot at OSU for the Championship but only if Michigan ends up being the #2 team because all the other remaining teams left in the hunt lose. It really makes no sense to argue against a team whose only loss was on the road at the National #1 if all that should transpire.

It was a great game to watch and if it happens again, I'm all for it.

If the tOSU/UM game was such an "instant classic", why aren't tOSU's and UM's games against Illinois and Ball State classics? They at least played defense.

Sorry, with all the national frenzy and media fellating of these two schools I'm getting a little bent out of shape. And then you add Burp Kerbtweet's random musings of a re-match to the exclusion of any other potentially deserving team by ESPN fiat and I'm beginning to get really pissed off...time to go kick, er, walk the dog. See ya.

KBJarvis --

Maybe shellshocked? When Wells smacked dead into the line, I thought he was done. Instead, he spun right off the hit and bulled through Michigan's vaunted front seven. No way in Hell those d-backs were stopping Wells. When he can hold onto the ball, that guy is money in the bank.

I'm not sure I'd call either defense awful--but the score was almost exactly double what I had expected on Friday. I really do look forward to either tOSU or Michigan matching up with any SEC team--I think differences in the style of play between the Big 10 and the SEC make for really, really good football.

Or, Maybe those offenses really are that good? Why is that concept so difficult? Anybody??

Dear Miller,

Sure, the offense may've been good. But it takes a truly awful defense to make that possible. Watching Wells run straight through the middle of the Wolverine's D-line and then on past the linebackers (apparently they went the way of the Red Sea and parted) only to come to...wait for it...no safeties over the top and no sign of a CB for miles of green-gray grassland...any time a back can go essentially untouched for 56 yards between the tackles without seeing a hint of defender...well, that would just have to imply the defense was terrible (or perhaps on an extended mental vacation)

As far as defense goes, I was struck by the lack serious hitting put on by the OSU/UM defenses. There were some good hits now and then, but compare those defenses to the Auburn/LSU game...there is no comparison. That might have been the most physical football game I've ever seen. After Saturday's game I thought to myself, "if those are the two best defenses in the Big 10, then the offenses in the league must be crap."

University of Alabama was in Augusta recently, for "routine maintenance". I'm sure it's a coincidence, but we need hope from somewhere, and turkeys have better Novembers than Bama under Shula.

Alright Michigan, you had your chance, now move on.

You gave up a crapload of yards and points to a team that won in what was really not a close game. Now go away.

There's a reason you play head to head games, its to see which of the two teams is better. We now know which team is better, and that team is Ohio St. You had your chance. Sorry Lloyd, as per normal, you lose. The funny thing is that all LLLLLoyd had to do was keep feeding the ball to Mike Hart and they might have won the game. Instead Llllllllllllloyd got outcoached (again, as per normal), and tried to trust Chad Henne to win a game as opposed to not losing a game. I think we all know how that has worked out before.

Give USC or Florida or Notre Dame or Arkansas a shot at Goliath and lets see if their slingshot can take the giant down. Hell, let the winner of the SEC champ. and the Jeweled Shelleligh trophy play for the play-in game sponsored by a bar-b-que company and tiffany's. I'm sure Miles "Empty Suit" Brand could make a fortune.

I have actually heard rumors of Spurrier going to Bama once they get rid of Shula. Don't think it will happen, but i can see if before he goes to Miami. I think he will stay at USC though - gotta love the Augusta membership.

Hey, guys, there's a reason you actually, you know, PLAY THE GAME. I'll believe any given SEC team can beat tOSU or UM when I see it, and visa versa. Isn't that why we play bowl games?

I don't think that UN-FREAKIN'-BELIEVABLE score has as much to do with weak D as it has to do with excellent offense, and good coaching (at least on one side--that game wasn't as close as the score suggests)...

I don't think there's going to be a rematch unless everybody melts down in the last two weeks. Michigan's lead over USC is so slim right now as to be almost nonexistent and they have nothing left to do except stay at home and eat cheeseburgers; USC and Florida on the other hand each have two more games. I have a suspicion all it'll take to bump Michigan to #3 or even to #4 would be for USC and/or Florida to have a strong showing in each of their two remaining games.
