THE BIG EAST RESPONDS: THE RACE IS ON!
As the saying goes: “Don’t go negative first, but when it happens, go hard.” These guys must have had this one in the can, because the Big East has responded to the SEC’s attack ad with a smear campaign of their own.
To quote the venerable Admiral Josh Painter:”This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we’ll be lucky to live through it.”

These ads are hilarious.
They’re also one more reason to eliminate the BCS and any talk of a playoff. Return to the system before the BCS.
Why? For the same reason we should eliminate instant replay. Neither development has solved the issue they were intended to solve and both put take the focus off the game and put the focus on media and non-football related sportsertainment issues.

Now seriously, how is the South ever gonna rise again when the hillbilliest of the hillbilly states can see the writing on the wall and jumps ship?

That’s comedy… I think you meant that they discovered that they could make more money with drug running and extortion than appealing to the sentiment of Northeastern Irish-Americans…
also, as much as it pains to say it, there’s no way in hell NI is ever going to be evacuated by the british gov’t as long as they’re a constitutional monarchy.
Hey, they stole it fair and square hundreds of years ago. Plus, they then created the proto-redneck with Scottish settlers who subsequently went to America so they could fight with one another over ACC and SEC rankings. That’s a real record of historical achievement and I think a small corner of the Emerald Isle is due compensation.
Seriously though, the smart option for the British Government would have been, after the 1916 uprising, to have shot Eamonn DeValera when they had the chance, told the Ulstermen that they were getting free passage to Scotland, and turned the whole of Ireland loose at once. That would have at least given the Irish a chance of not being a third world country gripped by the priests until the 70s — what a waste of talent and potential.

I believe the BE/SEC mockery a 2-way street. UF has jorts. WVU has hillbillies and moonshine. Auburn backwoods rednecks fall in love. Rutgers is in Jersey. These are not personal attacks, but generalizations based on stereotypes that we can all find amusing without truly being offended. Like most people on this site, I am an equal opportunity mocker.
And, MBW, I am in fact from WV and you’ve just slammed my state twice in 2 posts using gross generalizations and stereotypes that are incredibly unoriginal. Naughty, naughty…
Moving on, AUAlum is correct. West Virginia voted red in both 2000 and 2004. That said, WV has 2 dem. senators and traditionally elect a dem governor.
It is also interesting to note that WV is the only state in the nation that was not officially made a state by normal constitutional procedures (i.e., ratification by 2/3 of the states). WV applied to Congress for statehood – a request which was granted and approved by Abe Lincoln provided the state constitution abolished slavery.
Which worked out for the best b/c black people want to live in WV anyway.
