BCS POLITICKING GETS NASTY: THE SEC GOES NEGATIVE FIRST

With USC finally going down for the Beavers this weekend, the BCS race gets wide open and nasty. The human element means significant politicking will be necessary, and the black ops men on both sides of the equation have already begun spinning the conference propaganda their way.

Shockingly, the SEC has entered the fray first, targeting the Big East in a vicious attack ad. We're appalled. By the time Mack Brown enters the fray, the discourse of American college football will hit previously unseen lows.

I’m so fed up with these smear-tactics campaigns. Why won’t the SEC just come out and tell me what they’ll do for me, instead of degrading his opponents?

…wait a minute, you mean the SEC isn’t running for the U.S. Senate? Nevermind.

Sadly, I can tell you exactly what happens in the issue of GI Joe that you have pictured in that clip.

Hey Orson, who’s runnin’ this snobatorium? It looks like you forgot to “fall back”. It’s 7:35AM Eastern and I see posts already for 8:15 and 8:31. What the …? We expect better. If I were Coach Meyer, I would tell you, “That’s not Florida webmastering! Our webmaster stinks. Right now, we do not have a webmaster. I’ve never run a website without a webmaster, but we’ll do it if we have to.”

I hope I don’t go to hell for this, but I’m glad to see that Michael Adams “succeeded” in his quest to keep dumbfuck drunks from killing themselves by eliminating the moniker that once referred to the annual UF-UGA footbaw game played in Jacksonville. Maybe next year the game can be called “The World’s Largest Outdoor [STAIRS REDACTED] Party”!

Burn, Baby, Burn!

The first time I went to the Landing, I said, damn, I’m going to be lucky if I don’t kill myself on these stairs. That being said, on a scale of one ([NAME REDACTED] blowing it in the 2nd half) to ten (Michael Adams is not a clueless bastard) this strikes me as a -3 surprise.

Also, that video is great. Why? Because some jackass ESPN columnist was trying to say that Rutgers undefeated means that the Big East is a terrific conference- yeah, those wins over Howard and USF are something to hang your hat on (disclaimer: I like Rutgers and think they’re good, but comparing a Big East schedule to an SEC is rigoddamndiculous)

Glad to see Tony Barnhart isn’t taking this Big East lovefest lying down.

The northeast kicked your butts in the Civil War and you people just won’t let it go. I don’t know if that ad is real or not, but the Big East champ beat the SEC champ last year in Georgia in the Sugar Bowl and since Don Nehlen started coaching WVU in 1980 the Mountaineers are 5-2 against the SEC with four of those wins coming in bowls. By the way, WVU beat Kentucky in 1979, also. So that’s 6 out of the last 8.

If you think the Big East is so weak, kick out a couple of your weak sisters out and invite WVU and Louisville in. We play football in the Big East. The SEC just plays defense.

Orson,

This is an ad that Sunny Perdue’s dog can get behind.

The great thing is when I clicked on the link for the latest unfortunate passing at the WLOCP about the guy falling down the stairs, a Jack In The Box ad popped up. It’s tagline was, “you passed out on the couch, not on the stairs. Reward yourself.” Nice.

Here’s my favorite part of the South. These retards who DO passionately fight in wars for the rest of us just love to fly their confederate flags at all times. Which represents, beyond the slavery issue, a group of people who tried to break away from the good Ole’ U-S and A. This doesn’t jive, trying to secede is the most unpatriotic thing you can do, and these people who are patriots fly their stars and bars. Stupid

Good point about those wins coming in bowls. It’s the bowl system that pairs up teams like #8 SEC vs. #3 Big East (congrats on winning that BTW). In fact WV has NOT PLAYED any SEC teams that held a higher conference rank since 1980.

MP, seceding is not unpatriotic, as long as you feel that the country from which you are suceeding no longer stands for the ideals upon which it was founded, and the two-party system we have in place now rids us of more and more of these liberties on a daily basis. The problem is, the second a state tried to do that now, they would be invaded by the military like William Sherman going through Atlanta (albeit with better technology).

One other thing MP- name the only current US Senator who was a former wizard in the KKK.

I’ll give you two hints:

a)he’s not from a former CSA state
b) he’s up for reelection this year (I think)

Come on. Iraq’s a shithole and we can’t even take that country over without royally fucking it up. You can’t tell me that if the South tried to secede again, the North would be able to stop it. Our troops are committed elsewhere.

It may actually turn out good because the ‘terrorists’ would have to take a few years to regroup and decide which America they hate, the North or the South.

/completely tongue-in-cheek…please nobody take offense to this/

Good, point, j.j., and none taken.

by MiseanAUFan on Oct 31, 2006 7:39 PM EST reply actions

Well I think you would add the West and North and Northeast together. The South would get stomped again and then still say the same things about all of them.

I think trying to secede is the most patriotic thing a person could do. Ever heard of a little thing called the American Revolution ?

by George Washington on Oct 31, 2006 11:35 PM EST reply actions

Yeah I have. And I’m sure the British thought it very unpatriotic, but we won and winners write the history books.

Was Mack Brown wrong?

2005 Rose Bowl: Texas 38, Michigan 37
2006 Rose Bowl: Texas 41, USC 38

Perhaps when he speaks, people should listen.

by champs on Nov 1, 2006 6:39 PM EST reply actions

I think the video is stupid and dumb. Consider most of the SEC still haven’t gotten over the Civil War, they hate everything north of them (BE). West Va. was smart to split from Va. before the South took a butt whipping in Civil War. Meanwhile, it was the north (northeast) where America is and will remain. More than half the battles for this country freedom took place in New Jersey and 3/4 of all battles in the north. The British knew there was little value in the south to commit large forces to fight country bums. If you ask the rest of the world where is NYC or where is Philadelphia they will know, but ask them where is Knoxville and they say what’s a Knoxville? LOL
