OFF TO NOTRE DAME. BREAK OUT THE PARQUET FLOOR

We'll be traveling tomorrow to Chicago, where we'll taking only the finest of rental cars to South Bend, Indiana for the UCLA/Notre Dame match on Saturday. We'll be making the rounds of tailgates--much thanks for the existing invites, which we'll answer as soon as we forward our bank account information to all these exciting business partners we've met via email. (Rubes! They have no idea how we do things in America.)

We'll be mobile at harumphharumph of the yahoo variety, so hit us up and we'll come say hello. Or stay several hundred yards away, just like that little piece of paper from the judge says we should.

Enjoy your weekend, and we'll be back with the full travelogue on Monday. Break out the parquet floor.

We'll be rolling with the Fighting Irish. That'll probably end up being us on the bottom of the pile there.

Bammer Wedding

You have to watch the video.

That video is priceless. I’ve heard of matching rings, but never matching mullets.

O Swindle, please visit the ND MBAs Tailgate Party and see if their latest show is as good as it used to be, worm time!

When you see ucla bruins walking around Chicago or South Bend tell them my favorite insult, which goes around quite a bit during the UCS-ucla game in LA:

“I used to go to ucla, until my father got a job”.

Isn’t it “winter” up there right now? Be careful guys, that shit is rough

40% chance of rain and a high of 52; hopefully you boys can handle it. I’ll be making the 3 hour drive up to SB from Indy (quite possibly the most boring drive in the world straight up US 31). Not sure where the tailgate I’ll be attending is (was invited by friends of the family to that…sitting in the student section for the game thanks to my sister), but maybe we will bump into each other. GO IRISH!

Enjoy Notre Dame. I was there for the Stanford game on the 7th and it was incredible. Of course, that was also the last weekend of 70+ degree weather, sunshine, and no rain/snow until May, so that helped. Make sure to stop by the Linebacker Lounge and say hi to Donna and Joey. Try the Long Island Ice Teas as well. They taste horrible, but they’ll warm you up right quick.

GO IRISH!

The Linebacker is okay, if you are into the sort of thing, but for my money the best bar in town is Club 23. Now, it usually is a bit slow starting the evening but when all of the other bars close down due to their newer liquor licenses, you can head to Club and find the folks not part of the hyper-homogeny that is ND. They usually won’t kick you out until around 4AM if you can last that long. If you can, try to say hello to one of the nicest bar owners I’ve ever met, Moe. His bar helped me and three of my siblings get through living in South Bend for too long…

I’m looking forward to seeing Orson break out the jorts in the mild weather. See you in the ’Bend!

Krildog, the drive can’t be that bad. You get to go through Kokomo. A place so wonderful, the Beach Boys wrote a song about it.

by Earl Schlobodowicz on Oct 20, 2006 1:47 PM EDT reply actions

The drive up to 31 is not only boring, but shitty as the speed limit is somewhere around “55” the whole trip.

Agreed on the Backer…the Long Islands there are legendary…cheap and VERY potent…they dont even contain any felony fuel, Orson.

Club 23 is okay but it is usually Domerific…most of the better places to go are located too far by automobile to recommend unless you have a DD. If you want to hit on hot ND coeds, the place to go is…heh…okay, if you want to hit on ND coeds, the Backer is your best bet.

Kokomo would be a hell of a lot cooler if Bob’s Country Bunker was there, and if the Good Old Boys were the evening’s entertainment. Anyone know what movie that’s from?

Blues Brothers.

What do I win?

I love the picture! Ah, as the Pogues album title says it well, rum, sodomy and the lash when the Irish get together. Good times!

Hey, what’d ya say to me, boyo….

AllWhoYonder (#9),
Second your motion on Club 23.

And Moe is a god. His end of the year party was better than my wedding day.

While you’re there, please do not film anything and subsequently post it on YouTube.

Thanks.

Whitey -

You get a heapin’ helpin’ of respect from yours truly. Well played.

Hey Orson,

When you’re there, be sure and pick up a steak sandwich from the Knights of Columbus building (South Quad, near the main circle drive that faces the Dome). They have the best food of any concession stand on campus and it all benefits local charities. Don’t let the long line fool you, it usually moves pretty fast.

“If you can, try to say hello to one of the nicest bar owners I’ve ever met, Moe.”

That made me ask myself if we live in a Simpson’s bizzaro-world, where Moe is a nice bar-owner.

I wholeheartedly second (or third) AllWhoYonder’s Club 23 nomination with a caveat. If they still have the frozen long islands, it is hands down and easily the best drink to get in South Bend.

Knights of Columbus, that’s a good steak sandwich!

IrishLaw—

they do still have the frozen Long Islands at Club 23. I was back for the Penn State game and enjoyed a few myself.

Good times. Good times.

If you ever drive through Kokomo, Indiana and do not stop at The Hip Hugger lounge at 31 and Markland, you are gay. It is, by far, the best gentlemen’s club not located in Las Vegas. $3 cover, $6 pitchers of Bud and Bud Light. $10 lap dances. Every single girl on a Saturday night after a Notre Dame game is from Chicago, Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, or Detroit. When they are shipping girls in, they have to be good. God Bless “The Hugger”
