Pita Pit? Burrito Bros.? Steamers? Sounds like every other college town in America. I'm guessing the Salty Dog is an original. Also, is Gainesville so big you gotta get a cab to get home? In Tuscaloosa everything is within walking...err...stumbling distance.

Hit up Burrito Bros. for sure, remember the location is not on University and 13th behind Starbucks anymore but behind the church just west of 13th off University (look for the sign). It will supposedly go back to it's old location when University Corners is built.

Uncle Brian:
"ps Orson where is the tailgate going on, Im looking at about 2 blocks west of North South (aka Gale “No one cares how much money you donated its still fucking North- South” Leramand) Drive." Classic.

THEY BURNED IT DOWN? Sonsabitches. I saw the chainlink and signs a while back, but was holding out hope that it was going to be some kind of bad-ass Urban Warfare training ground for the Marines or something.

And yes, I went to Denslow's class - in my day (ah cripes)... in my day we didn't have that there internet tube. I actually biked from _ATORWOO_ to the biz triangle to watch TV. It was either that or line up at the TV Replay room, which I imagine has been rendered irrelevant by now. (Say, are Rush and Denslow on youtube? Bittorrent? They should be. Hell with copyright, those were some funny nerds.)

"if the bammers really want to have some fun, they should go skinny dipping in lake alice at night."

Comment by Tolbert1906

Tolbert-- that's a little too much like bathing for Bammer fans.

Then again, they're likely going to be scared by all the electricity and paved roads in the Gainsville area, already.

Panhandler,

They burned Gatorwood down last weekend. LIterally burned all the buildings to the fucking ground. It was pretty cool.

I'll stick up for Satchel's, seeing as I ate there last night. Way overpriced, and way too small for the demand, but it's still really good pizza. Better than Mellow Mushroom for sure. My favorite eatery in the town is El Indio, much preferred over the now impossible to find Burrito Bros. It's just north of campus on the east side of 13th. Get the combo with the soft taco. They short you on beans and rice if you get the enchilada. And definitely pick EI or BB over Chipotle. Fuck that shit. I hear Flaco's downtown is good for cuban food, but I haven't been there yet. And Sonic is always good for a burger and a cherry limeade.

Gator city (RIP Purple Porpoise) the divided the hallowed grounds into two bars. The old arcade and the blowhole are combined into a new club caled "XS", with the other parts becoming Gator City . Some nights you can navagate between the two, other nights they are two seperate bars. The porpoise reopened a year later in the old common grounds, when cg moved in to the old hardback, but according to my contacts the pp#2 closed and is now called 1492 or some shit. Like it was said above, clubs and bars are like [NAME REDACTED], they come in with high praise and quickly diminish into screen passes on 3rd and fucking 37. This is the end of my Gainesville 3 year update, more at 11pm.....

ps Orson where is the tailgate going on, Im looking at about 2 blocks west of North South (aka Gale "No one cares how much money you donated its still fucking North- South" Leramand) Drive.

Some thoughts....I second the statements re the Salty Dog, (although it will never be the same since Grace, the well-endowed bespectacled bartender left), Hogan's (greatest hoagies I've ever had), and Italian Gator.

The only downside to the copper monkey is they go with a scaled down menu on game weekends.

Another good place for food is Cafe Gardens, which is directly behind the Swamp on 1st ave N.

Durty Nelly's is a good Irish pub (Downtown near Main Street.

Market Street Pub is a place downtown where you can find some room to stand. It's on like 1st st and 1st ave s.

As a past employee of "The Purple Porpoise" (97-00). It saddens me that it can no longer be included in a definitive list of G-Ville places to lose one sense of morals and common sense.

What is it now "Gator City"?Has it changed much?

I still consider my "Decendence - A Way of Life!" t-shirt from there as vital gameday wear.
