SUN SALUTATIONS

Arkansas punter Jacob Skinner's pre-kick ritual is not to be missed. Skinner stretches one leg back, extends the other forward and bends it at the knee while extending one arm skyward, doing what appears to be a yoga Sun Salutation prior to kicking. Because this totally fits in with the inmates/asylum dynamic of Houston Nutt's Arkansas reign, we scarcely blinked when watching this Saturday.

The good people at Fark, though, did not, and for this you should thank them. Our favorite bit of their work is sampled below:

Breathe through the bottom of your heels. Feel your toes like they are budding blossoms.

Unorthodox, definitely – but he did a far better job punting for Arkansas than Leigh Tiffin did kicking for ’Bama on Saturday.

While Skinner is a Buddhist and active pursuer of yoga and meditation, Tiffin is a Muslim, and they have a tendency to self-destruct.

I really felt sorry for Tiffin. That was a shame.

Nice reference to the All Blacks’ Haka there, Pete.

I thought that if one wore shoes, one had to breathe through the eyelids.

“Sometimes, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains. Think about that for a while.”
