OH MAN!!! What a game. And howabout that clipping call on Bradon James’s kickoff return TD? That bad call and the Tennessee trick play were all that kept it close.

I watch the game at the Hooters in Costa Mesa, California with Gator Club mates.
Until DeShawn Wynn’s run and first down with about 1:22 on the clock. The collective group from the Gator Nation did not breathe and had irregular heart beats.
Nobody noticed that there were beautiful girls in Tennessee orange hot pants and skin tight tops dancing on top of bar stools trying to generate some gyrating Hooters Girls’ version of a deliberator.
The collective Gator Nation lost at least 20,000 cumulative years of life expectancy. There was one poor fellow in the joint in Tennessee colors – I think he flat lined along with a bunch of folks wearing that ugly shade of orange at Neyland Stadium.

Separation Saturday Schtick:
Most Exciting Game: Urby beating Fulmer by the tiniest of margins.
Most Exciting Ending: Battle of the Big Zeroes, with Oregon winning on a blocked kick over Okie land during the last play of the game.
Biggest Surprise of the Day: Notre Dame getting a full gynecological exam – on the table with full stirrups on and all of the rest of it – by Michigan. Maybe ND might play like men in their next game. Willingham is laughing at the savior of ND land – Weis. Not even Beano Cook would give Brady Quinn a shot at the Heisman right now.
Ugliest Game of the Day (Uglier than Tony Kornheiser’s Bearly There Comb-Over): Auburn Vs. LSU. The game was like seeing a heavy weight fight with fighters hugging each other for 12 rounds, and not landing, even if they wanted to, a decent punch. 7 to 3? Looks like a game as exciting as regular season baseball broke out in the deep south!
Saddest Performance of the Day: Nebraska played the game not to win, but to not get blown out by USC. They were running the clock out on themselves for most of the second half. Nebraska needs to be in a conference with teams like Nichols and Dimes State, Rice and Duke. If they are not going to play, then cancel the games with the better teams and stick to the minnows of college football.
The Who Cares Bowl: Too bad there had to be a winner? in the Dadgum father and son fiasco of a game.
Miami Mice lost again. who cares….

Good call on ugliest game of the day… A real horror to watch for those of us down in here; did you actually have time to see the game while you were so busy trying to be “dadgum” clever about the deep south? Baseball and Boxing in one wonderful metaphor….How’s that working out for you?

Great win by the Gators. I felt especially great for Dallas Baker, who will now be remembered for scoring two touchdowns as a senior instead of a boneheaded personal foul as a sophomore. What a difference great coaching makes.
I actually the Auburn/LSU game — two great defenses going at it rather than two inept offenses screwing up (see Miami/FSU).
But did anyone besides me notice the bizarre outfits the Auburn drum corps was wearing? They looked like a cross between Oompa Loompas and garage mechanics! Completely ridicule worthy.

If you couldn’t appreciate the AU-LSU game, you will never appreciate defensive footbaw.
LSU has given up 13 points this season, AU has given up 17.
LSU scored 45 in its first two games, AU scored 40 and 34.
These are two teams with pretty good Os and unbelievable D’s.
AU and LSU will be in the top statisitcal categories on O in the SEC at the end of the season, and will be 1 and 2 in the defensive categories.

I think it’s an unwritten rule that the scholar-athlete always has to come from the home team, just as the ‘SEC Moment’ has to show the home team beating the visitor (although that might be a tough requirement to meet in some games… sometimes a great play from a valiant loss might suffice.)

A few observations about Separation Saturday:
Watching Florida State play is like watching the WNBA. Only slower. And with more lesbians.
The transitive property in effect: watch how a still-underachieving (and still LLLLoyd Carr coached) Michigan team will accrue all of the empty hype previously heaped on the vastly over-rated Notre Shamers. Oh wait, did Herbstreit already vote scUM number three in his poll? Guess so.
We now know the answer to a riddle the media hoped would never be asked.
Q: What’s the only thing more obnoxious than Charlie Weiss in victory?
A: Charlie Weiss in defeat.
Finally, Congratulations to Orson and the Gator Nation! Oh, and about the shameless Dallas Baker manlove: once the gag-reflex subsides and Dallas takes it out of your mouths and puts it back in his pants, you guys collectively need to rinse, brush, and tacitly agree to never mention this again, chalking it all up to frat-boy experimentation and too much Jaegermeister.
We can get beyond this, but I will never be able to look at you the same way again.

“Best Gator front 7 since the early 90s.” Amen to that. A great, gutsy win, and hats off to the Gators. My reality sensors tell me the secondary needs some work, the PK is iffy, and the O could work on finishing a few more drives — but it’s hard to find a lot of fault with a team that rallies from a 10-point road deficit and backs up its pregame cheese chatter. Well done.

Hats off to Justin Harrell for reason #28,763 why college fball is superior to pro.
I’m very upset FSU and Miami lost. Well, not really.
The UF oline is better at run blocking than pass protection. They played very well, overall.
I just watched a Ford Mustang commercial with the offending vehicle (on the Nurburgring, no less) flashing brights on a Carrera GT. Yeah, ok. Ford is a benefits plan that happens to make a few cars and trucks.
Drove back home this AM from Knoxville. My twin boys greeted me at the door with fake Gator tattoos on the cheek … well, I hope they’re fake.

[Total threadjack ahead] Umm, that isn’t exactly a garden-variety Mustang in that commercial – rather, it is the Shelby GT 500, packing 500 supercharged ponies under its hood. OK, so the Shelby wouldn’t exactly outgun a Carerra GT on the ’bahn, but it comes pretty darn close and retails for one-tenth the price. Not a bad performance bargain for $43k. A decent quarterback drives it for at least a winning field goal instead of getting an intentional grounding call on first and ten from the gators 37 yard line and then throwing his second interception of the game on 4th and 13. Still, on a day when a lot of visiting teams were getting a lot of home cooking, (and UF was getting home cooked pretty good, too) you guys won a big road game.
UF takes UT by 30 or more in Gainesville.

Great game by the Gators — the O-line played much better than I feared they would.
What I haven’t heard, however, is how stupid Nelson was to intercept Ainge’s fourth-down pass, rather than let it drop. It was proably a difference of twenty yards, which, if the Gators had not made the first down on Wynn’s run, could have been the yardage that put the Vols in postion for a last minute field goal attempt.
by SF Gator on Sep 18, 2006 8:40 AM EDT reply actions
Great performance by the Gators’ offensive and defensive lines. That INT for TD that was called back in the 2nd quarter for a somewhat questionable roughing the passer penalty sure hurt. I think UF was the superior team, though.
That’s the loudest I’ve heard Neyland in a while, and I’ve been going to UT games since 1989.
The Vols will be back to mid-90’s form soon enough. I think the UT/UF rivalry may be getting back there as well.

You obviously didn’t watch the LSU/Auburn game. Easily the most exciting game of the year. Too good offenses, two great defenses. 7-3 is not indicative of how well played the game actually was. If only the officiating was up to the standards of the players on the field……

OK, so the Shelby wouldn’t exactly outgun a Carerra GT on the ‘bahn, but it comes pretty darn close and retails for one-tenth the price.
To second DHC, the boat anchor in the nose of the Shelby Mustang, posing as an engine, would pretty much kill that race the instant there was a corner… a Roush Stage 3 Mustang GT will keep pace with a Shelby in a straight line with fewer horsepower, and leave it for dead in corners, for roughly the same money.
However, I’d still rather have a modified Skyline R34, right-hand drive and all.

Hmmm, the last two games at Darwin’s waiting room on the Plains have been gifted to the Barn by shitty referees making questionable calls, no-calls and outright rimjobbing of the Cajuns. Does make one wonder.
Great will be the day when a big SEC game isn’t affected by some son of a bitch in stripes. And it ain’t just this game, either. There’s better officiating on the PeeWee fields in any small town in the South on Satuday morning than in SEC games. Pathetic.
