sure Michigan beat PSU, but they had a medicre year overall. And PSU looks likely to slip back into the middle of the pack again this year.

I don't consider Iowa to be at the elite level but they are close. How long has it been since they were in realistic contention for a MNC at the end of the year?
Overall I see the Pac 10 and Big 10 as pretty simmilar from year to year and the Pac 10 team usually wins the Rose Bowl.

I certainly don't care enough to get upset at the Stanford/SDSU result. I've got a news flash for you father figure, the celler dwellers in every conference are not very good. It's not like Stanford lost to a 1AA team like some other teams this weekend.

Other than the SEC, what conference has more than 2 "serious" teams?

The Big 1O has tOSU and Michigan (with PSU taking Michigan's spot last year).

The ACC has maybe Virginia Tech, though they have not been in MNC contention for awhile. FSU has 40 something yards rushing for the season and one of the games was against Troy? That's major suckage. Miami lost to FSU, so they are a step further back.

The Big East is still the Big East. It's a shame we won't know how good the couch burners really are since they don't play anybody. But nobody besides them and Louisvile could come close to being considered serious.

The Big XII has Texas and maybe Oklahoma on the way back (but they lost to a Pac 10 school last year and have looked weak this year) and also maybe Nebraska is on the way back (but let's see how they look against USC, they could win that game or they could also get crushed like Arkansas).

And for every Stanford or Oregon State embarassment, it is easy to point at a Northwestern, or a Vandy or a Duke, or....

Those beasts from BSU were extremely disrespectful to the Beavers. I could have sworn that somebody on the OSU sideline blew an assault whistle near the end of the 3rd quarter. Those Broncos had poor character; they kept pushing around those defensless guys with callous disregard for their health.

The Pac 10 has two serious teams (USC and Oregon); that's it. The rest of the conference gets pushed around by the monsters at schools like UC Davis, Boise State, and San Jose St.

"They are slowly switching places with the Big East as the doormat conference"

Actually I'd say the PAC-10 now is sort of like the ACC used to be in the early 90's.

1 dominant team USC - FSU followed by 9 other teams who are a tier and a half below them.

The Beavers coach supposedly accepted, then reneged on an offer to coach Bama in the immediate aftermath of the Fran fiasco.. Nice to see him get his ass handed to him.

My only question about the smurf turf is how the hell the Boise grad assistants who break down the film can see the players from the overhead endzone view.
Those little splashes of orange on the sleeves of the Broncos jerseys can't help out that much.

An entire week goes by, and not a single word on the greatest upset in college football. I am speaking of UW LaCrosse smack down of South Dakota State. A Division III school took a punk wannabe D I-AA program to the wood shed.

Shouldn't the loss permanently drop South Dakota State to Division II?

Sure Cal had a rough week but there was no way WSU was going to stay with Auburn. And you forget UCLA...

...BROUGHT DOWN THE WAMMY

Both new clips have to be watched. In the second one Hugh extensively quotes from the comments here at EDSBS.
