EDSBS WORD OF THE DAY

Todays word of the day: shitbag.

Definition: Oh, how about this for starters.

(We didn't set that up, btw. Here's what irks us in the page info:

"Copyright 2005 by Fulmer Cup." See? Shitbags.)

Usage: "Someone who would set up a site using your bit without asking permission even once and then do so poorly is, for lack of better words, a total fucking shitbag."

Cease and desist, pigfuckers.

I believe stevie wonder was the website designer.

by corey bailey on Aug 29, 2006 2:08 PM EDT reply actions

Hey copyright is inherent in publishing something first, right? I mean, these guys have erase their etch-a-sketch and move on, right? They can’t claim copyright on it, can they? It’s not even clear they know all their letters.

by Austin Dave on Aug 29, 2006 2:09 PM EDT reply actions

Time to go medieval on somebody’s ass (only through cyberspace, so maybe it’s not really medieval, but you know what I’m sayin’)

by italiangator on Aug 29, 2006 2:09 PM EDT reply actions

“Time to go medieval on somebody’s ass”

“pinged to death” on their server is what we should be doin here, very easy to do

by mfdoom on Aug 29, 2006 2:17 PM EDT reply actions

What a bag of dicks these guys are. Not cool.

by RV on Aug 29, 2006 2:19 PM EDT reply actions

That is ridiculous. Something must be done! Where are all those fucking hackers when you need a website crashed.

by VolBrian on Aug 29, 2006 2:22 PM EDT reply actions

Can you say Cybersquatting?

A quick whois search reveals that they used DomainsByProxy.com, a site that hides your identity in the domain’s whois directory information. Not only a shitbag, but a chickenshit shitbag.

Orson, find a good intellectual property lawyer.

by JR on Aug 29, 2006 2:23 PM EDT reply actions

Sure, they lifted the Fulmer Cup concept from us… but they can’t pull it off. Besides, it could be the Thundering Herd cup by this time next week.

by Stranko Montana on Aug 29, 2006 2:23 PM EDT reply actions

Nice embossed phil fulmer face action going on. That site is fucking well made. As long as we all boycott it, that’s all that matters.

Its like the tree falling in the woods…if no one’s around, does it make a sound?

by Brian on Aug 29, 2006 2:25 PM EDT reply actions

They’ve got all of three posters there. Woo.

by The Conscience of a Nation on Aug 29, 2006 2:27 PM EDT reply actions

WTF is “exmplary”? You can see the kind of idiocy you’re dealing with right off the bat here. Put a hurtin’ on ’em.

by TigerMARINE on Aug 29, 2006 2:28 PM EDT reply actions

Pretty lowdown. Horse thieves used to be hung.

by dragonash on Aug 29, 2006 2:34 PM EDT reply actions

I’m guessing they are from the fort myer area as that is where their two sponsors are.

it would be an easy enough site to bring down or worse economically prohibitive as one increased traffic to there site thus causing througput charges.

“Fulmer Cup” can’t be copyrighted, too small, you could Trademark it. Which means a lot of cash which obviously they don’t have, and why would they,

As I see it, its like finding out the guy from the Latin Club who likes to play Magic the Gathering has a crush on your girlfriend. There’s no reason to get mad, he’s the guy fro the Latin Club who likes to play Magic the gathering and will have to wait till a furby convention to get some action. Of course it will be with a squirel. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

by corey bailey on Aug 29, 2006 2:39 PM EDT reply actions

That’s not you guys? I thought that was you guys.

Ain’t no feeling in the world like being robbed.

Hit ’em as hard as you can, however you can.

Shitbags.

by Boclive on Aug 29, 2006 2:47 PM EDT reply actions

Shouldn’t it be the Elias T. Jones Cup after this year?

by Sean on Aug 29, 2006 2:56 PM EDT reply actions

That’s just fucked up. What is this – a freshman remedial web-design project?

by CouchBurnin'Girl on Aug 29, 2006 2:59 PM EDT reply actions

The way I read it they can claim copyright to all of their content, which is approximately equivalent to some stuff my dog dropped on the lawn this morning. Outside of that there’s no way they can claim any sort of ownership over the Fulmer Cup concept. One could argue that a criminality contest featuring Tennessee is too obvious a concept to claim ownership over anyways. Plus I see nothing on the site to indicate they were rolling with the idea prior to Monday anyway.

Advantage, EDSBS.

by Hokie Andrew on Aug 29, 2006 3:05 PM EDT reply actions

i wonder if Fulmer’s lawyers could do anything considering these motherfuckers profess to have a copyright on something so obviously inspired by the Great Pumpkin himself. Not that he, or they, would give a shit, but they did keep him from getting sued in Alabama.

by VolBrian on Aug 29, 2006 3:06 PM EDT reply actions

“Burninating the villages…” Nice.

If you’re going to rip off someone else’s idea, at least take the time to change the name and alter the concept just a wee bit…just like I did here.

by Phil K. on Aug 29, 2006 3:21 PM EDT reply actions

Sounds like Kyle and I will have to bring suit. The depositions will be fun.

“Are you now or have you ever been a shitbag?”
No, what kind of..
“Are you lying now or later?”
wha..
“Answer the fucking question Shitbag!”

Poor, poor form. Intellectual Property books here I come…

by Maize n Brew Dave on Aug 29, 2006 3:22 PM EDT reply actions

Did you all see thier link to Fulmer cup T-shirts? Just kidding.

by tzubear on Aug 29, 2006 3:51 PM EDT reply actions

Looks like they unlocked the secret to getting hits. Piss off EDSBS.

On a side note – Have you guys thought of doing a fantasy leage for “the Fomerly Known as Fulmer Cup Race” A.K.A. (TFKAFCR). That would be awesome!

by Nile on Aug 29, 2006 3:53 PM EDT reply actions

“Pretty lowdown. Horse thieves used to be hung.”

Oh man, did I ever read that wrong at first.

For the deposition, I also recommend a variation on the old standby: “When did you stop being a shitbag?”

by Boy Howdy on Aug 29, 2006 3:58 PM EDT reply actions

you guys should just possibly re-name the cup. maybe to “Shitbag Fulmer Cup”.

by random thoughts boy on Aug 29, 2006 4:01 PM EDT reply actions

Gee, when did Colin Cowherd start a website?

Kidding aside, anything we can do to help, let us know. What dicks. This is complete and utter bullshit. You come up with an original idea, build an audience for and this pigfuckers swipe it.

We’re with you, O.

by Yost on Aug 29, 2006 4:07 PM EDT reply actions

Can’t you guys mobilize some Tech nerds and hack it or something?

by NoleinTexas on Aug 29, 2006 4:15 PM EDT reply actions

Eh everybody knows the Fulmer Cup started here. We’ve got the dated posts, website hits, and threatening letters from Jack Daniels’ copyright lawyers to prove it (oh wait that last one is just me).

Anyway, RYan Moore put Da U on the board with this

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/colleges/university_of_miami/15381297.htm

Too little too late I’m afraid.

And Marshall will lose a point after no charges were filed in a lame misdameanor charge against one of their safeties.

http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/9624482

So lets see if Marshall can get a little insurance before kick off on Saturday and hold on to the title.

by BIGMIKE on Aug 29, 2006 4:18 PM EDT reply actions

Easy fellas. You are all ready to condemn this (these ?)idiot as the fourth member of the west memphis three.
This could be the work of a silly kid who dosn’t know better.

Orson- I am sure a letter to the site in question and to DomainsByProxy.com (good work JR) will be adequate. If that is ignored, then get pissed.

by tzubear on Aug 29, 2006 4:28 PM EDT reply actions

It’s the “Copyright 2005” that’s salting the wound, I think; the site doesn’t seem to have existed before 7/24/06.

by The Conscience of a Nation on Aug 29, 2006 4:44 PM EDT reply actions

Speaking of this subject the folks running the ESPN message boards are doing a bang up job.

ass = censored
fuck = censored
assfuck = no problem, type away.

by Brett on Aug 29, 2006 4:51 PM EDT reply actions

Well those guys do say where they are coming from with thie slogan “If you ain’t cheatin, you aint’ tryin’”.

Suing them would cost more than it’s worth. Lawyer bills pile up fast, though I’d guess there may be some EDSBS readers who could do some pro bono help.

The site is just bad though. I looked and couldn’t find an acutal score tally (I doubt anybody put in the effort to compile one). I also laughed at the stories they have posted under “Football player arrested”. One was a feature about Marky Mark’s new football movie and another was about a player for Manchester City. These idiots make the guys at Bruins Nation look smart and competent.

by oc phil on Aug 29, 2006 5:23 PM EDT reply actions

I don’t think those are manually built links. They look to me like Google auto-search widgets. You can set them up on your Google home page for “Notre Dame Football” and the like; looks to me like they just transplanted the code.

by beattherush on Aug 29, 2006 5:28 PM EDT reply actions

So they’re not only thieves but they’re lazy, dumb thieves as well? Hard to see them being worth the time, since all the lazy thieves here seem relatively intelligent.

by James on Aug 29, 2006 5:33 PM EDT reply actions

Point taken Conscience. Still, I would advise handling this in a genteel way until you know they are trying to be malicious. If we had to sue every shitbag there would be a whole lotta…….

by tzubear on Aug 29, 2006 5:35 PM EDT reply actions

Suing them would cost more than it’s worth. Lawyer bills pile up fast, though I’d guess there may be some EDSBS readers who could do some pro bono help.

There are plenty of EDSBS readers who consort with jackals, have signed over their souls to the devil, and consume the living flesh of shitbags like this guy for recreation. So, yeaah, pretty much what you said.

by DevilGrad on Aug 29, 2006 5:45 PM EDT reply actions

I know you’re right, tzubear. I just get all het up when folks disrespect my man.

by The Conscience of a Nation on Aug 29, 2006 5:47 PM EDT reply actions

http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/9624482

So lets see if Marshall can get a little insurance before kick off on Saturday and hold on to the title.

I didn’t think points came off the board for dropped charges. Although that has some superficial appeal, it makes programs that have made an art form of getting the local constabulary to quietly shove problems under the rug look cleaner than they really are.

by DevilGrad on Aug 29, 2006 6:12 PM EDT reply actions

Internet Lawyering is not a respectable pursuit. Various methods of e-ttack are easily perpetrated and garner praise from the crowd rather than the hissing a lawyering slapfight would.

by colintj on Aug 29, 2006 6:42 PM EDT reply actions

Those thieving bastaages. Sick’em Orson.

by Stockman on Aug 29, 2006 6:59 PM EDT reply actions

I think this is an unfortunate symptom of success. Best case scenario is amatuers failing to realize aspirations of decency. Worst is that this is the first of many shitbags looking to lamprey themselves to your rising reputation.
Unfortunately, they don’t have your ability Orson. I think the Conscience and I will agree: you possess a profound/profane talent, take your pick (Conscience, please do not expound on any more profane talents than we alredy know of).
So swim unhindered, Great Fish! The world is your ocean!

by Jim K on Aug 29, 2006 8:24 PM EDT reply actions

Ohh! Ohh! Let DevilGrad have at these guys! MiamiHawkTalk.com is full of lawyer types…I’m sure pro-bono work can be arranged or the lawyers can bill themselves- and maybe set a precedent meanwhile.

It also may be when and where you file suit and a cease and desist order on these guys.

You’ve done the first part and posted a cease and desist request…if they don’t. Let Devilgrad at them…ohh ohh please.

It’s be a nice saga for me to write about …ask DG how I can write sometime. I could just log in and start rambling stories of my days at Miami, or in the services or that time at Kmart…

Nah, just talk to DG. He’ll get the bastards that killed Kenny…and filched from EDSBS too.

by MrG on Aug 29, 2006 9:55 PM EDT reply actions

That site irritated me, and I’m not a vested party. I’m with you on the hell and brimstone reaction, Though since they only have three posters, and we know one of them definitely is not a contributor to the site, can we not assume (dangerous word) one of the others is the site creator (thievy McShitbag himslef)?

by Jonathan on Aug 29, 2006 10:57 PM EDT reply actions

Ugh. I Googled FC last week looking for the scoreboard and found this….wondered why there weren’t any EDSBS links. Git ’em, boys.
