Around SBN: Are The Orioles Bad Or Unlucky With Their Young Pitching?

TAKING THE PIRATE THING A BIT TOO FAR

Texas Tech's competing quarterbacks--fighting for the starting spot just a few weeks shy of their opener--got real buccaneer with it after practice on Monday. Chris Todd and Ryan Rowland, both competing for the starting spot with Graham Harrell, got into it after practice to the tune of a broken nose for Rowland. (HT: The Wiz.) While Leach promptly had Todd keelhauled dismissed the fight as nothing, he did have this to say:

"If you get 130 priests together, there's going to be some battles."

While EDSBS was unaware of Mike Leach's recruiting priests, it wouldn't surprise us given Mike Leach's reputation for being unorthodox (and occasionally just plain bizarre.) It would also explain Texas Tech's very forgiving defense.

A broken nose? How naughty! Yarr.

How did he find 130 Jesuits that played football?

That is astounding. Everyone knows that Jesuits are more suited to basketball than football.

“If you get a 130 priests together…”

Even as a Catholic, there are just too many damn good jokes to be made there.

Seriously, Jesuits haven’t a clue on the gridiron. Just look at all the MNC’s that notable schools like Georgetown, Holy Cross, and BC have won.

Back when Nebraska was relevant, there was a funny halftime segment about the Huskers supposedly playing the Creighton football team. Osbourne was interviewed saying, yes, we would be very happy to play Creighton in football. I know they are undefeated.

Jesuit football. Undefeated since 1877.

The Jesuit High School I attended won the Ohio State football championship last year at the D 1 level. They are ranked 4th in the preseason NATIONALLY. This is based on the strength of their junior class. I will have no more bashing of Jesuits and football.

How much would you guys have paid to watch this happen at Tennessee last year with Clausen and Ainge decking each other out. That’s more action that actually took place on the field at Neyland Stadium last year. I’d have even supplied weapons.

Odell, which Jesuit HS did you go to? I went to Creighton Prep in Omaha.
