LA DAILY NEWS: USC'S TING TESTED POSITIVE FOR 'ROIDS

Brandon Ting, the USC safety who left the team recently to "focus on preparing for med school" along with his twin brother, tested positive for steroids last winter. As every other blog and paper on the planet is positing, we suppose this might have had something to do with his quick exit from the team. (HT: Josh.)

Ting's dad has one very interesting client: Barry Bonds.

You would think a med student would be smarter.
On a side note, our buddy @sjsu keeps pulling away from the pack, single-handedly.

Did either of them play in the Rose Bowl (not that USC won or anything)?

I’m thinking SDSU has to be disqualified. The Fulmer Cup is a team event, so in order to qualify, there should be a rule that at least one other teammate needs to get into trouble.

He’s certainly medaling in an individual award, however…

Yes they played in the Rose Bowl. Here is an interesting list of responses to thei the Tings’ early retirement from the USC faithful. (Before the steroid news was released).

SDSU, SJSU, M-O-U-S-E

Not only they played in the Rose Bowl. They received death threats (from Trojan fans) for screwing up one of the biggest plays.

Austin Dave, my favorite part is when “DAVID” responds to the question,
""How small are these guys anyway? 160? That’s a troll in SC weight. Wasn’t Ting the last one to have a shot at stopping Vince on that last Rose Bowl TD?"

with,

“both Ting’s are in the top 5 all time in every weightlifting category for all players under 180 pounds.”

Hmmm- wonder why?

by AU03 on Aug 2, 2006 10:27 AM EDT reply actions

Hooray. No wonder they were making such a big deal about leaving the team to do pre-med prep.

Clearly they were getting a jump-start on their MD-PhD research program: “Roid effects on the football player, a self-study,” by Ting and Ting.

And y’all thought it would have been Brandon Hancock that had such news!

Is ’roids usage worthy of any FC points?

Speaking of FC points, I just came across a story featuring our UT recruit who allegedly improved grades with his penis. Apparently he’s been “Cooter’ed” here in Knoxvegas. It looks like the Vols are finally getting back into championship form…except for that whole 31-pointer thing.

I knew some Ting was wong with those two.

Well their dad is a shady SOB surgeon in the Bay Area, he operates on all the stars (Barry Bonds), but he’s been suspended and put on probation a bunch. When your father is a money driven bastard where only the results and money matter, it’s no shock that one of his progeny would have the same mindset

It amazes me that there is no oversight of performance enhancing substance abuse in NCAA sports…

yet.

by Boclive on Aug 2, 2006 1:19 PM EDT reply actions

What a joke. You should see what all these ’SC fans were saying about them being “what SC football is all about” and how they are such stand-up guys.

http://www.insidesocal.com/usc/archives/2006/07/tings_quit.html

Of course, there are also guys on that board ragging on them for being “busts”, wasting scholarships, and failing to intercept a VY pass at the end of the Rose Bowl. THAT is what ’SC football is all about, being bandwagon.

Prediction: SC goes 7-4 this year, and the Coliseum is half-empty again, just like the 90’s.

Question Mark Dept.:

Is it possible to get Fulmer Cup points if a close relative is also involved in shenanigans (Tings and Tings’ Bonds Roided Doctor Feel Good Father)?,

or, Bush and his shady step-father/wannabe/agent house rent fiend fink?

My vote: Yes!
